Is there a database where I can download year by year fWAR or bWAR for all qualifying players?

Shohei Otani is likely coming to the USA

QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Oct 11, 2017 -> 05:46 PM) If he doesn't wait till he's 25 we're talking tens of millions in lost money. Hundreds, not tens. -
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 9, 2017 -> 10:54 AM) I guarantee you will be wrong, Jake won't throw a gem. It's Jose vs Max Hoping for a pitcher's duel with the Cubs bullpen blowing the game at the end.

QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Oct 9, 2017 -> 08:30 AM) I don't even know who the f*** Clarkin is... which makes it even more awesome. I love a deep farm system. The second piece in the Rutherford deal.

QUOTE (hi8is @ Oct 8, 2017 -> 11:38 PM) Let's all hope that Rodon is "that guy" and that Kopech and Hansen both just come up throwing video game insane mode numbers from the start. If it all works out perfectly ( I know, I know ) this s***'s bonkers Rodon Kopech Hansen Giolito Lopez Let a brother dream. The great thing about that is there are about 5-7 other legitimate starter options in the White Sox minor leagues that you don't even have listed. Dunning, Cease, Clarkin, Adams, Fulmer, Guerrero, Stephens all have starter potential as well, and I think I may even be missing some on that list.

QUOTE (gosoxtim8 @ Oct 7, 2017 -> 07:24 PM) they let the nats back in the series Good hopefully the Nats can take that opening and finish them off.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 6, 2017 -> 11:37 PM) Thanks. Then we have no chance at all. He's giving up nearly $200 million to get here 2 years earlier. Comparatively, the difference between $300K and $8 million is nothing. -

QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 6, 2017 -> 04:33 PM) I haven't read the stories. Can somebody summarize this for us? Sox have little to no chance of signing this guy because "............." I am 'assuming' it's cause we just spent all that dough on Robert and aren't allowed to bid much and we can't even compete in the ballpark $$ wise. Is that correct? If this is the case ... wouldn't it have been smarter to go for this guy instead of Robert? Isn't this guy pretty much a can't miss pitching/hitting star? Otani doesn't appear to be in this for the money. If he was, he'd play in Japan for 2 more years and not be restricted by the international amateur free agent rules. Even if someone maxed out their pool and hadn't spent any money on international free agents to that point, Otani is still likely giving up close to $200 million to get here 2 years earlier. I hope the White Sox get in on him, figure out what it is that he's looking for, and offer it to him. He fits the rebuild timeline very well, and it would be interesting to see if he can succeed as a two-way player, and what the White Sox might do with that. -
QUOTE (hi8is @ Oct 6, 2017 -> 03:38 PM) What's with the Nats love on this board? They're not one of the teams that is constantly talked about by national media, they've massively helped the White Sox rebuild thus far, and their opening round opponent is the Cubs. They are essentially the perfect storm of White Sox fan support.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 6, 2017 -> 07:14 AM) in 194 ABs. You are talking about a minor league career of .741 OPS for the rest of his time. A guy who hasn't been good enough to be an everyday starter at one position in the minors. The position he plays most of all is 2B, which is covered is covered by some guy named Moncada. He is not passing up all of the legitimate major leaguers in our system, including Tyler Saladino this off season. You might not see the case for Tyler, but the White Sox have already made it. What does Moncada have to do with any of this? I don't think that Peter should start next year, but I do think he's a better option than Saladino to come off the bench and get 250-400 PAs next year to see if he can be a valuable bench piece. The White Sox could disagree with that, but they would be at odds with every piece of available information in doing so.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 5, 2017 -> 10:54 PM) I think you missed the "don't overweight this year" part. He obviously had a bad year, we get it. But it is also pretty obvious the White Sox still believe in him as they kept him on the roster and gave him ABs all of the way through the end of the season. They sure didn't do that for the players they were done with. Think of guys like Brad Goldberg they were on the roster, but they still never called back. Then they dropped him completely. If the Sox were done with Tyler, he would be gone. On top of it, it isn't like Peter is even doing big things in the minors that screams call up. He has so many guys ahead of him it isn't even funny. I think you missed the "back issues" and "age 29 season" part. As for Peter, he ended his age 24 season hitting nearly .300 with an over .850 OPS playing while playing 5 different positions for the Knights. He's also performed better than Saladino at each level of the minor leagues at a younger age. I don't see the case for Saladino over Peter.

QUOTE (Hawkfan @ Oct 5, 2017 -> 05:55 PM) The trade got a little better today. Not really, it just continued the sad and unfortunate trend of Chris Sale performing poorly after the month of August.
-
While I'm disappointed by the result, I'm not at all surprised. Sale has always been mediocre to bad after August. Why did anyone think the postseason would change that?
-
QUOTE (almagest @ Oct 5, 2017 -> 08:10 PM) The starting pitching has been pretty bad so far this postseason. That trend continuing would bode very poorly for the Indians.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 5, 2017 -> 07:52 PM) Because Saladino probably has a higher ceiling. Don't overweight a bad year this year. Based on what? Saladino is entering his age 28 (maybe 29 depending on how you want to count it since his birthday is July 20) season, has back issues, just posted a whopping 33 wRC+, has never posted a full or partial season wRC+ of 100, and did not show as well defensively as in prior years. Jake Peter, on the other hand, is entering his age 25 season and has done nothing but hit and offer positional versatility on his steady climb through the White Sox organization. He's not likely to be a star, but I'd bet on him providing more value than -1.2 WAR if he's on the White Sox for most or all of the season next year. Saladino probably would as well, but I think Peter is the more likely player to be above 0.0 WAR if he's on the 25 man roster.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 5, 2017 -> 04:58 PM) Tyler got himself 278 plate appearances this year and was such a disappointment that he didn't deserve more. Until there's a true 40 man roster crunch there's no reason to fully dump him, he's not at his arb years yet so he's basically free, but he'll be a guy who could potentially face being DFA'd next summer to clear room for Jiminez or another callup. May as well hold him and see if he can Yolmer it up next year until we need the roster spot. If we need the roster spot and he's still hitting in the .200 range, then I won't complain about cutting him and I also won't be able to say he didn't get a fair shot. If your'e a 27 year old fighting for a roster spot you can't put up a sub-.500 OPS and expect someone to owe you another shot. So why hold the roster spot for him over Peter, who is probably at least the same player, and offers the potential to become a better player?
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 5, 2017 -> 12:08 PM) No one is picking Jake Peter. Utility infielder who will be in his age 25 season and has hit well at every level of the minor leagues. Seems like the perfect Rule 5 candidate to me if left unprotected.
-
Why is no one concerned about protecting Jake Peter? He's the type of guy who'd be taken immediately in the Rule 5 draft, and I'd rather see him get ML PAs and figure out what we have in him than see Saladino back out there again next year. I think Peter could be as good or better than Sanchez and offers the same positional versatility.

QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Oct 4, 2017 -> 04:42 PM) I think the White Sox have a similar rule in regards to hair cuts. Facial hair OK, long hair on the head, not OK. Fry had to cut his hair days after his call up. I don't like either and prefer to let the boys be boys. Think they'll keep that rule when Kopech comes up?

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 4, 2017 -> 04:51 PM) Verlander's deal extends through 2020 at the longest, and that's if the vesting option is hit. That wasn't that big of a hit. Cabrera's is the big one. Making $30 million in 2018-2021, and $32 million for 2022-2023. That's another 6 years and $184 million for a guy who was worse than a replacement level player this year. Paying $60ish million per year to those two would've all but assured they couldn't be in on Harper, Machado, or Arenado.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 4, 2017 -> 04:12 PM) Eh, them not wanting to pay up for a trade with the Sox isn't really that big of a deal to me. Bailing the Tigers out of Verlander is the biggest deal to me. I'd've gotten over the failed trade talks, and had once the Sox got Eloy, but then they turned around and gave the Tigers yet another out on yet another huge contract that was supposed to financially cripple them for years to come.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 4, 2017 -> 01:04 PM) Houston has always been my 2nd favorite team and with all of the teams I hate that made the playoffs, I am ride or die with the Astros. Even after what they've done in the last 10 months? I liked the Astros before that, now I want them swept out of the playoffs.
-
QUOTE (Sleepy Harold @ Oct 4, 2017 -> 02:03 PM) James Fegan @JRFegan Replying to @JRFegan Sox need to protect Eloy Jimenez, Casey Gillaspie, Ryan Cordell from Rule 5 eligibility, case to be made for Jake Peter, Brian Clark, Jordan Guerrero...Micker Adolfo, Tito Polo. This frees up some space I doubt anyone would take Micker, he's struggling to not strike out 30% of the time in A ball in his age 20 season.

QUOTE (SCCWS @ Oct 4, 2017 -> 11:49 AM) Sale and Q will be under the spotlight this week. Both had an impact on their teams winning their division. But now they have to produce in October when the pressure intensifies. We will see how they hold up. It will be really interesting if they meet a few weeks down the road. A Red Sox-Cubs World Series is just about the worst thing I can imagine in the baseball world.
-
Why does everyone here want the Indians to win it all? I'd rather see Sale win it all if it has to be an AL team, but I'd prefer the Nats or Dodgers to win it all.
