Stoney new guy on the Score-somebody should tell the Sox
palehose23 replied to palehose23's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Mar 28, 2008 -> 05:29 PM) The "source" was listed as the Score in the second and third posts of the thread. Evidently you didn't look very hard. Here is my original post- (READ IT!!!) I just heard on the Score (for the 1st time today) that Steve Stone and Ed Farmer will be doing the Sox broadcast on the station- I don't think the White Sox know about it yet. To break it down for you- I know that the Stone/Farmer thing happen a long time ago- this whole post is dripping with sarcasm. But the fact that the team DOES NOT EVEN HAVE THIS CORRECT ON THEIR OWN WEBSITE is strange. Apology Accepted -

QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Mar 28, 2008 -> 05:18 PM) Why not take 5 seconds to click the link and read it instead of asking? I took 5 minutes and looked at every post and it did not see what my post is saying. Please re-read my post then I will accept your apology. BTW- the Score comment was facetious -

When the sox start the season in Cleveland they will no longer be playing at the Jake because Cleveland finally gave in and sold out (like the rest of MLB). Progressive Field is now the name with The Jake as a sub title- Sad. http://cleveland.indians.mlb.com/news/arti...sp&c_id=cle

Jim Thome only needs 564 Plate appearances this season to guarantee his 2009 contract. So for those with ideas of Konerko or Dye moving to DH in '09 just a heads up. From Cot's Jim Thome dh-1b 6 years/$85M (2003-08), plus $13M 2009 club option acquired in trade 11/05, with Phillies paying $22M to White Sox as part of deal (about half of remaining salaries & buyout) $10M signing bonus (paid in 4 installments of $2.5M, 2003-06) 03:$9.5M, 04:$10.5M, 05:$11.5M, 06:$12.5M, 07:$14M, 08:$14M, 09:$13M club option ($3M buyout) 2009 option guaranteed with 600 PAs in 2007 or 1,100 PAs in 2007-08

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jan 13, 2008 -> 02:06 PM) Without question Billy Koch. I HATED him. It's almost as if he embodied everything wrong with our ballclub. Most notably, failed expectations. And when people would say, "he's a terrible pitcher, but a great guy," it'd make me hate him even more. I hear you on that one Flash. I am not trying to be friends with these guys- I just want them to be good players. I hate when people tell me that a guy is a good guy so I should lay off of him, forget that.

QUOTE(Markbilliards @ Jan 12, 2008 -> 02:37 PM) Over the years, who have been your least favorite Sox players and why? For me it had to be between Ron Karkovice and Joe Borchard. If he was to remain on the team longer I would have said Andy Gonzalez too, but "He Gone". It makes me mad that Borchard has the record for the longest homerun in the Cell, I wish Frank held that. Borchard was such a failure as a player. Both him and Kark were tough to look at too, they were hit pretty bad with the ugly stick as kids. That homerun record at the Cell is BS- Eric Chavez hit a homerun (off the great Gary Glover) when I was at a game like 6 years ago that LANDED in the middle of the right-center field concourse. Least fave Sox player= Kenny Lofton- he was a big f*^&ing tool and sucked

Can't wait to see all the players again and get that giddy feeling of possiblities for the '08 season. Then about April 15th coming back to earth. But I will be there working so I can really great too excited in front of these guys -
QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 12, 2008 -> 12:43 PM) I can't believe you forgot Joe Borchard. He just hit long homeruns and never was a good hitter in the minors and I still hate him so he will not even get this dubious award.

Finally the greatest 4A player in Sox history is back (with apologies to Scott Ruffcorn. Jeff Abbott and Brian Anderson) LIEEEEEFFFFFFFF!!!!!!

QUOTE(Felix @ Jan 5, 2008 -> 05:48 PM) This thread has turned from good dreams to hilarious in a very quick amount of time. Seriesly. Thanks BearsSox and all the replies afterwards for the funnest thread I have read on SoxTalk in my almost 3 years on this board.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Dec 30, 2007 -> 05:56 PM) The results of this poll are very sad and makes me wonder if our fanbase is as smart as I thought. Stop whining because the poll didn't go your way!!! People were ask for their opinion and given 4 choices and they responded- where does intelligence come into to play here? I am sure that most (like me) would have wanted another option such as KW is on the hot seat- and I am pissed but he deserves a chance. Maybe you were under the impression that Sox fans are smarter than any other fandom but the realization is finally hitting you and its a bitter pill to swallow. Hope you have a Happy New Year and let the season play out before you make your judgments on this 08 season.

The White Sox and Alexei Ramírez agree to 4 year deal

QUOTE(max power @ Dec 23, 2007 -> 10:09 PM) Speaking of richar, is he still sucking in whatever winter league he is in? Per Rotoworld Danny Richar - 2B White Sox .224/.265/.254, 0 HR, 5 RBI, 17/3 K/BB, 2 SB in 67 AB Richar hardly embarrassed himself with a .230/.289/.406 line in 187 at-bats for the White Sox, but neither did he do a lot to solidify his status as a regular. The team needs to invest in a legitimate alternative. Thats Avg/OBP/SLUG for the stats impaired- Looks Good!!!! -
QUOTE(heirdog @ Dec 23, 2007 -> 08:39 PM) Krause inherited Jordan...Paxson inherited Jalen Rose. Please stop the comparisons. Paxson has done well and his true legacy will be decided based off whether he can take a semi-talented, hard working team into a championship by pushing the right buttons coming up in the next year or so. He took an underachieving, lazy team with a few bad contracts into a hard-working, asset laden team with a nice contract structure in place. They haven't performed this year so it looks bad but give this team Jordan in his prime and we would be talking a different tune about Paxson. Yes, every team needs a supporting cast and other superstars but let's not kid ourselves, Jordan is the reason we won six...not Krause, not Pippen and not JR. Kenny was the talk of the town when we won the WS and we all talked about how he brought us the championship with his moves...sticking with Garland, Crede and Rowand. Trading for Konerko, Contreras, Garcia, Pods. Signing AJ, Dye, El Duque etc. He pushed all the right buttons and we felt like he was robbed for GM of the year by Shapiro. Then we won 90 and fell flat after the AS break and it was written off as a bad half. We underachieved last year and our bullpen was a joke (which was Kenny's doing) so now he sucks! Maybe he was given too much credit when we won but now it seems, he is taking too much heat but that's how it was before the 2005 season so let's hope for a similar result. Jordan without Pippen= Zero Championships Jordan without Pippen= Getting beat 4 straight vs. the Lakers because the Bulls could guard "tragic" Johnson without Scottie. Jordan without Pippen= Triple teams and 2007 Kobe Paxson gets so much of a pass here in Chicago. Signing Ben Wallace for way too much money and years, letting go of Tyson Chandler and Eddy Curry (which are the exact players the Bulls need), and not finding a way to get Kobe Bryant on this 2007 Bulls team is terrible. GM with high expectations for his team 3 straight seasons and can't even get to its Conference Championship and he is still held in high regard. GM wins a championship for a franchise that hasn't seen a title since 1917 and then follows it up with 2 "disappointing" season (90 wins is tough to come by) and this GM is all of a sudden an idiot. I'm not saying but I'm just saying. On KW- 1st get your facts straight, Konerko was acquired in 1998 by Ron Schueler not Kenny. Kenny deserves blame for the underachieving of 2007 but to go as far as to say he sucks is asinine. Be hungry for a championship but lets get into the season 1st then if the team is not good call for his head. WE ARE NOT THE YANKEES- We are not even the MARLINS.
-
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Dec 23, 2007 -> 06:24 PM) Who is talking out of their rear end? I haven't seen anyone call Schueler a much better GM. I think he's on par.If your a Bulls fan, from your post you must have been on 24 hour suicide watch when Jerry Krause was replaced. He's got 6 rings. Someone should hire him immediately. ON PAR?! WOW. Schu has Zero rings and will not get hired again as a GM. As soon as KW "fails" here there will be a team(s) looking to scoop him up to run their organization. And yes Jerry Krause is a MUCH BETTER GM than John Paxson ever will be. He traded for Scottie, drafted Horace, got rid of Doug Collins, and didn't listen to Jordan's suggestions on personnel (i.e. Walter Davis). You tell me a better GM in this city's history than him? I'm Waiting... Thats what I thought!!
-
STFU While I do not like what KW has done this offseason but to say that Schuler is a much better GM that KW is asinine. Bringing up winning percentages, division titles and the like means nothing- THE RING IS THE THING. When did we turn into the Yankees? You and your father have seen exactly the same amount of championships on the South Side-1 and KW was the GM. If it was a fluke or happenstance I would love to have that GM who luckily brought us this BS championship than a GM who kepted us mired in mediocrity. The Central now is much better now than the Central/West that Schuler had to get thru. Be mad at KW- Hell I am furious at him- but don't just talk out of your rear end.

QUOTE(Dogfood22 @ Dec 2, 2007 -> 02:32 PM) My awesome plan: 1. Trade Jenks, Fields, Anderson and Danks to the Marlins for Miguel Cabrera. That should get it done. Let the Marlins move Jenks then for whatever pieces they need. Maybe to DET for Maybin and a prospect? That would suck for us but it would be great for them. We'd be adding what, $10 million or so? 2. Turn around and trade Paulie and Crede to the Angels for Brandon Wood, Chone Figgins, and a mid-tier prospect. We'd subtract about $14 million or so here. 3. Sign Jose Guillen to play RF and move JD to left. We'd probably add about $10-11 million here. 4. Sign Bartolo Colon. We'd add about $8-9 million here probably. So far we've added about $14 million or so to payroll, which is less than what we would've given Hunter. 5. Trade Uribe, Hall, and Sweeney to the Giants for Randy Winn and cash. Winn has a bad contract (owed $8 million in '08 and $8.25 million in '09) so lets get a couple million off of '09. They can have some more bad contracts, but ours are for only a year. Uribe and Hall can be backups for them. We add $1.75 million to the payroll here. 6. Trade Broadway + MacDougal to the Nats for Jon Rauch. He's arbitration eligible, so we'd probably come out about even here. 7. Trade McCulloch plus two of the following: Getz/Lucy/Valido/Sisco/Aardsma/Day/Haeger/Phillips/Masset to the D'backs for Juan Cruz. This is overpaying but it's not like overpaying with great players. Then, after the D'backs pick their two, offer two of the remaining to the Pirates for Soloman Torres. Cruz is arb eligible and should get a bit over $2mil I'd think. We'd add $3.2 million for Torres, so that's about $5.2 million more added to the payroll. 8. Trade virutally nothing to the Dodgers for SS Wilson Valdez. 9. Trade Pablo Ozuna to whoever for whatever. He has speed which is nice, but Owens has better speed and is more versatile in the OF. So, see ya Pablo and subtract a million from the payroll. 10. Sign Mike Lamb for about $2 million/year. Lineup: S 2B Figgins R SS O. Cabrera R 1B M. Cabrera L DH Thome R RF Guillen R LF Dye L C Pierzynski R 3B Wood S CF Winn Rotation: L Buehrle R Vazquez R Contreras R Colon Floyd/Egbert/Gio competition Bullpen: CL: Rauch RSU: Linebrink LSU: Thornton RSP: Wassermann LSP: Logan MR/LR: Torres MR/LR: Cruz Bench: 4th OF/backup CF: Owens Backup catcher: Donny Lucy/Cole Armstrong/invite competition (really, offense from a backup C is NOT that important) Backup SS/2B: Valdez Backup 1B/3B and primary pinch hitter: Mike Lamb So, under my totally awesome plan, we add about $22 million to the payroll. We were offering Hunter $15, so basically think of it as Hunter's money plus $7 mil more. We get a lot more speed, OBP, we don't have any grinders, we ACTUALLY have veteran guys in the pen (Cruz and Torres) who can pitch in multiple roles without s***ting their pants, we have a deeper rotation, better defense, and we'd be relying on no more than 3 rookies (one possible SP, a 3B hitting 8th in the order, and a backup catcher). We downgrade at closer but pick up one of the best hitters in the game. We downgrade at 3B from Crede but we get a legitimate stud prospect to play there. Everywhere else we upgrade, and in some places, we vastly upgrade. ...had to edit this. While not very possible, I like a person with a plan and actually puts it to paper (in this case monitor). You really have a lot of time on your hands and you use it wisely- thinking of ways to make the Sox better. I hope you are Kenny Williams just posting this to see what we think and then actually put some of these plans in action.

Where can I buy the TV that you David Riske fans had because apparently he was Cy Riske when he took the bump for the Chisox in '06. My TV told me that he was a below average middle reliever that would give up long homeruns but I like what your TV told you much better. Maybe in '08 that TV will show me that Jose Contreras fastball will be 95 again and his splitter will actually fall off the table- I got about 2K and I am heading to ABT electronics immediately. Oops was that supposed to be in Green

I will post it again for those of you who can't (or don't want to) read- For all the people who want to watch the youngsters develop remember this fact. Only 3 players were drafted, cultivated in the system, and played on the 2005 World Series team Aaron Rowand Joe Crede Mark Buerhle all the rest were thru trades and free agency. GET MIGGY C NOW!!! None of the post- except southsideirish's and maybe the Frank Thomas post (questionable)- refuted this FACT. DRAFTED, CULTIVATED, and PLAYED on the 2005 World Series team. Garcia- Not drafted or cultivated Garland- Not Drafted El Duque- Not Drafted or cultivated Pods- Not drafted or cultivated Konerko- Not drafted or cultivated Jenks- Not Drafted some cultivation Frank- Did not play in the playoffs (34 games in the middle of the year did not bring this championship home) That is all
