QUOTE(southsideirish @ Nov 8, 2007 -> 05:59 PM) Come on. You can do this with every player on every team if you go that route. This is stretching it a bit. Point is that not many players of use have come from the White Sox farm system. People would complain a lot about all the prospects KW was trading to get proven players in return. Not many, if one, have turned out to be much of anything. Thanks Southsideirish- that was exactly my point.

For all the people who want to watch the youngsters develop remember this fact. Only 3 players were drafted, cultivated in the system, and played on the 2005 World Series team Aaron Rowand Joe Crede Mark Buerhle all the rest were thru trades and free agency. GET MIGGY C NOW!!!

QUOTE(WCSox @ Oct 19, 2007 -> 06:02 PM) Some people have a difficult time performing in pressure situations. Is A-Rod one of those people? I'm not sure at this point and I wouldn't want to spend $300 million to find out. That's good because guess what, YOU WON"T BE SPENDING 300 MILLION!!! The Sox will Like many have said on this board- what's the harm in having the greatest baseball player that you have ever seen on your team when he breaks the most hallowed of records? I would love to see A-Rod on this team, warts and all. And I know that the rest of you would also.

Byrnes and Rowand in the same outfield...
palehose23 replied to wilmot825's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
Rowand and Byrnes?! Excellent! That outfield would be the grindiest outfield of all time- Most Sox fans would have multiple orgasms as soon as they signed. -
I asked for this months ago and it seems like this is imminent per the Score.

Jaqcue Jones (not a rumor or fact)
palehose23 replied to BobDylan's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
Jacque Jones would be a great pick up for the Sox. 1. He is a career .280 hitter with left handed power 2. He is a Sox killer- get him before someone else gets him 3. He is a Cub and nothing would be better than him being good for us while he was a so called bust for the Cubs -
Jose Paniagua- his third of an inning in 2003 made my year. 108.00 ERA was what I will always remember

Who would make a play for A-Rod now?
palehose23 replied to caulfield12's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
Who would make a play for A-Rod now? Me and every team in the MLB- He is great, once in a lifetime talent who would make your team a big draw immediately. -
These statistics explain a lot...reality or not?
palehose23 replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
You want a 'real' CF how about looking on the Northside at Jacque Jones- He is exactly what the Sox need- Lefty pop, decent glove, and hatred for Cubs fans -
Which Tribe players would actually start for us?
palehose23 replied to scenario's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(scenario @ Mar 31, 2007 -> 11:13 AM) Which Tribe players would actually start for us? I'm not talking long term. I'm not talking multi-year 'potential'. I'm talking about 2007. If you mixed the two rosters, who would win the starting positions? Position Players First, compare the position players for the two starting lineups... Consider both offensive and defensive contributions. Konerko vs. Blake Iguchi vs. Barfield Uribe vs. Peralta Crede vs. Marte AJ vs. Martinez Pods vs. Dellucci Erstad vs. Grady Dye vs. Trot Nixon Thome vs. Hafner Starting Pitchers (the way they're slotted in the rotation) And who would you take in each of these matchups? Contreras vs. CC Garland vs. Westbrook Buerhle vs. Lee Vazquez vs. Byrd Danks vs. Sowers Peralta Martinez Dellucci Grady Hafner CC Lee Byrd -
I like to take the Starters wins and get the team's win and so... Jose Contreras 19 wins Jon Garland 19 wins Mark Buerhle 15 wins Javier Vazquez 15 wins John Danks 10 wins Bullpen/Other starters 14 wins 92 Wins

Sox on Veterans HOF ballot/results tuesday
palehose23 replied to StatManDu's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(Hideaway Lights @ Feb 26, 2007 -> 10:26 PM) There is no question Santo should be a hall of famer And I f***ing hate Ron Santo Santo is NOT a Hall of Famer- He has hit as many home runs as I have since he retired and if he could not get in on the writers ballot then he's SOL. Hall of FAME, not Hall of Decent, Above Average, Sentimental Pick. -
Sox Hire Chris Singleton to Join Ed Farmer

QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ Jan 12, 2006 -> 01:35 PM) You are exactly right. Hence why Ronney left. he was asking more than the Score can pay. Incorrect- Rooney broke off talks because he was promised his dream job in St. Louis. But thanks for playing -

QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Jan 6, 2006 -> 05:20 PM) No its about catering to a small group of the population that refuses to learn american customs..We contuine to cater to spanish speaking people, while every other ethnic background is thrown to the side.. Irish,Italians and Polish Imigrants helped build Chicago into the great city that it is..And they had to learn the Langauage as well as kept their own. They recieved no speaical treatment.. why should spanish speaking people? If your going to cater to one group you have to cater to all..Otherwise that is racist, there is no way around it. Here is an english lesson for you- I before E EXCEPT after C ( i.e. RECEIVED not RECIEVED" Let me CONTINUE- (or like you put it CONTUINE) "Those who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones" -
This was the greatest day of my life- (I am the big black guy on the right if you were wondering)

QUOTE(BobDylan @ Jan 4, 2006 -> 05:50 PM) Also, you can't imply how smart or stupid your reader is. Obviously most people will understand the sentence, but you're missing the point. This is hilarious!! The best thread I have seen in a while.

QUOTE(BobDylan @ Jan 4, 2006 -> 05:40 PM) As a student of writing, I've been called an idiot by a professor. I agree that it should be constructive...but one day he'll be hearing a lot worse from fans or readers. He could've written the second coming of Hamlet. It wouldn't matter. I see your point but I am also a journalism major so I think that most professors in our field are just asses. I see grammatical errors in our papers, TV anchors, and talk show host all the time. My pet peeves are Redundunt speech and double negatives. (I.E) Hawk- "Back with the Final totals in a moment." I turn off the TV before the Postgame comes on just because of that.

Damn!! The kid is in college- keep it constructive.

palehose23 replied to maggsmaggs's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Jan 4, 2006 -> 02:36 PM) Tejada has a not played well in US Cellular Field in his career. 50 at bats, 1 homer, .220 average and a .555 OPS. vs. White Sox Pitching -
Chris Rongey is new Pre/Post Game Host.
palehose23 replied to Harry&JimmyRocked's topic in Pale Hose Talk
He was named the new Pre and Post game host for Sox games on the score 670 -(Feder had it as WSCR 1000- which we all know is incorrect) Thoughts? -
Why the hatred for Scoop and Jay Mariotti? They are just doing their job by getting you emotional about what they write- which I can see you guys have fallen into their trap. Columnist are supposed to have an opinion that is controversal, if they did not- they would be beat writers. Wise up and if you truly don't like Scoop or Jay Mariotti (like Hawk says) DON'T READ THEM and don't tell me that you do not read them because when I ask why you don't like them you always come up with 5 or 6 articles they had done recently. (SORRY HAWK but you do it too.)

I got a framed Chicago Tribune front page from Field of Dreams from October 27. It is an awesome gift.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Dec 16, 2005 -> 01:26 PM) If they offered Rooney the same money in Chicago, he'd be there, imho. I respect your opinion but like others have said on this subject Rooney left the Sox because he was always wanted to be the Cards play by play guy (ala Wayne Larivee leaving the Bears for the Packers). The Score, White Sox, and Rooney were in negotiations and then John cut off talks abrutly.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Dec 16, 2005 -> 03:26 PM) The trophy sits on a stand, and you walk right up to it, but they do say in the rules that you cannot touch the trophy at all. I kind put my arm around the table for my pic. I got to hold the trophy and take a picture- its like holding your long lost son after he was lost for so many years. Heavier than I thought it would be- about 30-40 lbs. I wish I was more computer saavy so I can show the picture but it keeps telling me that it can't be uploaded. It was the greatest day of my life.
