  1. QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Dec 9, 2005 -> 10:20 AM) i dont see tejada diving to stands catching a ball in the world series. Ill stick with juan Urbie Is you crazy? That has to be the dumbest thing I have ever heard since Hawk said "where'd you play him?" about Ken Griffey JR.
  2. QUOTE(OldSox2 @ Nov 25, 2005 -> 07:40 PM) Kenny wrote another chapter in trading great prospect(s) for an established, over the hill player who might help for one year, two at the most IF he (Thome) can still hit. I don't get it. Among other things, we solved a serious dilemma for the Phillies. They didn't want Thome; they want to play Howard at First Base. He is a much better player and his salary is the minimum. So who can they go to to take Thome and half his salary off their hands? Kenny and the White Sox. I still can't visualize how they talked Kenny out of Gio. I bet they're laughing in Philadelphia, harder than when we traded Johnny Calison for Gene Freese back in 1960. I remember when KW traded prospects (Olivo, Morse, Reed) for a established, maybe not all the way over the hill player who might help them for one year (Freddy "The Rock" Garcia) that worked out pretty well didn't it? Sox won the WORLD SERIES with only 3 Players from their system (Buerhle, Crede, Rowand)- all those prospects that we heard about in the 90's Kevin Beirne, Aaron Myette, Brian Schmack, Jeff Abbott, Jon Rauch,Jason Dellearo,Joe Borchard,Craig Wilson,Mitch Wylie etc- where are they at now? I just think that KW has at least bought himself some latitude by winning the Series with his trade and free agent acquisitions
  3. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Nov 12, 2005 -> 07:37 PM) From the Tribune: The cheap ass Score wouldn't come close to that figure and I bet they weren't even within 150K of that. In fact I'm pretty sure of it. Thanks to them we will have to live with a sub-par announcing crew for the foreseeable future. You either pay the best or they leave. It's that simple. I encourage everyone to contact the radio station and let them know how disappointing it is to lose the best announcer in baseball to another team. It's embarassing, considering we just won the World Series. Hey before you speak about something that you don't know about get the facts right- I told everybody at the end of the regular season that Rooney cut off negotiations so he could go over to his beloved Cardinals. The Score had nothing to do with that. He left the Sox so you should be mad at him
  4. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 07:44 PM) ``When a man signs a contract he should honor it,'' Guillen said. ``They signed me for three seasons to win ... they were going to pay me just the same whether or not we were champions.'' AMEN, OSWALDO! I wish some of these egotisical f***s in baseball and other sports could honor this same statement. And yes, Soxy, QUOTATION. While I agree with you on honoring your contract in baseball, basketball, and hockey- Football is a different animal. When you have a guaranteed contract you should honor it, but when a team can cut you when they want and you out perform your contract (i.e Terrell Owens, Javon Walker) then you should hold out. Walker being a great example why you should make as much money as you can while you are healthy. Now Walker will be lucky to get his market value after tearing up his ACL.

  7. TO ALL THE PEOPLE JUMPING TO CONCLUSIONS- Rooney's favorite team growing up = Cardinals Cardinals moving to a new station and word is that they are not happy with Wayne Hagin (post Todd Helton statements) and Rooney would fit perfectly in St. louis. Give it some thought- I believe Rooney is calling the shots and heading down south.

  13. everybody Calm down- I love when our fandom has doom and gloom on the brain with a 10 game lead and never losing 4 games in a row this season. Can we just pretend that Ozzie knows what he is doing when he fills out the line up card- after all sox still have the best record in the majors.
