  1. The new normal for me as a Sox fan is checking mlbtraderumors.com multiple times a day in the offseason and in the weeks leading up to the trade deadline. Kind of a sad fan existence.
  2. When I look at the money being spent on FA, I’m more and more convinced the Sox will never compete again. We’re destined for constant rebuilds. I don’t see the Sox ever building a sustainable winning team. We’d have to have a billionaire owner who thinks of the team as a toy, not a real estate investment. The only hope is they get lucky every so often with a young roster that puts it all together at one time like they did in 2005.
  3. My earliest memories of the Sox are listening to them on the radio because the Sox went out of their way to make it difficult to watch them on tv. My dad used to have the game on in the garage while he tinkered with things or relaxed in the sun on the weekend. I remember Jimmy & Harry, but only vaguely. I was nine or ten when Harry left. Drysdale & Hawk are the first team that made an impression on me. As mad as some people are about Benetti being let go, I’ve felt that way about Paciorek not returning. Hawk & Wimpy is still my favorite Sox combo.
  4. Sounds like they’re yelling “sell the team!” I assume it’s both fan bases in stereo.
  5. Terrible trade deadline for Getz. I feel sorry for Crochet and Robert getting stuck with the Sox. They deserve an opportunity to play on good teams. I somewhat understand not trading Crochet since his performance value is offset by the likelihood he’ll not be available much near the end of the season due to innings restrictions. Trade partners would have lowballed to Sox. I imagine Robert is trying to figure out how to go back to Cuba.
  6. Sure, it was a Draft Kings lottery ticket, but I placed a World Series bet on the Sox before the 2023 season. True story. I didn’t actually think it would happen, but I figured it was worth a few bucks, and, hey, you never know. One season later there’s a very real possibility we’ll lose 120 games. Unbelievable.
  7. Don’t forget, Terry Bevington was a catcher, too.
  8. Yep. If this happens, I just become a baseball fan. I won’t care about any team in particular. I’ll watch the playoffs and maybe take in an occasional spring training game, but I won’t have to waste time caring about a team that’s never cared about me as a fan.
  9. 54 games remain. If the Sox play .500 ball the rest of the way, they lose 108 games. It’s almost too hard to wrap my head around their ineptitude, but I’ve had the misfortune of watching parts of too many games this year. So, I’m comfortable saying they stink.
  10. And what, good sir, are the Sox good at?
  11. I never understood why the in-game chat between the announcers and Ozzie/Chuck was always muted. I assumed it was an MLB.tv decision. Of course it was just the Sox being the Sox with another fan friendly decision.
  12. The Condor seems familiar, but still not great. I feel like Conductor is a typo for Condor. I doubt anyone would call home either.
  13. MLB lists Sale’s nickname as “The Conductor.” I don’t think I’ve ever heard that. Edward Scissorhands would be more appropriate.
  14. I think they’re too hot, and JR told Pedro to shut this sh*t down.
  15. Agree. If our record was reversed 48-16, I don’t think anyone would have a problem with SSSU.I Corny - but most/all announcer catchphrases kinda are. Im on record as not having a major issue with this guy, but he is definitely over the top about some pretty inane stuff.. I was watching the AKC Agility Challenge this morning, and if the Sox gig doesn’t work out, it would be a perfect landing spot for Schriffen.
  16. This team is all kinds of special. Remillard thrown out by at 3rd followed by Pham getting chesty on a play he had no business making. The “ex-Cub” being involved only adds salt to the wound. Can’t let that happen.
  17. I don’t watch every game, but in my exposure to him, I don’t have a huge issue. I think he’s guilty of overselling a bad product.
  18. I don’t have any issue with the way he calls a game. He’s a solid announcer. However, some of the things he says are incredibly stupid. The fans watching don’t need to be coddled or misled. This team stinks. I don’t expect him to say they stink. That would be dumb. At this point, he should just be calling the game. Get excited when the Sox do something good, but don’t oversell. If he can’t figure out a way to be truthful, I think he’ll be equally insufferable if/when the Sox start to win.
  19. Pace yourself. You have to be running out of houses.
  20. This little jingle is going to make some Soxtalkers unreasonably angry.
  21. It’s pretty exciting to have almost all the starters hitting above .200. I’ll stand up for that.
  22. One thing I like about Grifol (and it may be the only thing) is that he lets his relievers throw multiple innings. He doesn’t limit everyone to one inning and burn the bullpen up every day.
  23. If Moncada and Eloy can ever stay healthy (healthy - not just not on the IR), for a full season, they would be much more valuable than Burger. Your last sentence is basically inarguable. They cannot be relied upon to perform.
