  1. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Sep 13, 2005 -> 11:17 AM) I got to thinking about this for some reason last night and it hit me. Our last 4 Presidents that are still alive are from Texas, Arkansas, Texas, and Georgia respectively, and exactly zero have opened their houses to refugees from Katrina. Is this a statement on our society? Jimmy Carter's probably busy building them houses.
  2. What will the response be if a terrorist/group of terrorists walk into downtown Chicago and set off suitcases of "dirty" nuclear bombs or biological weapons? . This hurricane and it's aftermath was predicted years ago, and, still, the response by all levels of government was slow and weak. Does anyone have faith that the response will be better to an unpredictable attack/natural disaster? I don't.
  3. QUOTE(JimH @ Sep 13, 2005 -> 09:36 AM) There still seems to be a general misconception that the White Sox broke up the team of Rooney and Farmer. They did not. Nor are the White Sox the ones talking about Mike North doing the color. It's the radio station The Score who is driving this. Just to clarify, in case it hasn't been clarified enough already. Could we get you to clarify this, please?

QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Sep 13, 2005 -> 06:08 AM) I bet that b**** helped Georgie boy stir up the waters in the gulf too. She stayed just long enough to rename the hurricane Corrina. Each member of the Bush family gets progressively dumber.
  5. While Dan McNeil gently weeps. What's wrong with North? On Dog Day he could have BeBe do her Adopt a Pet segment. Fritzi could stop by for some beers every seventh inning of home games. He wouldn't be saying, he'd just be saying. Then selling the T-shirt and mug to accompany that. We could get the meatloaf recipe, stories about aldermen he knows, interviews with da Coach. Oh, and he'd probably even talk about the Sox a little. Does this need to be in green?
  6. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Sep 12, 2005 -> 12:41 PM) The only people who probably know what really happened that night are probably in S&R's close circle of friends. Animals are jealous/protective by nature. Any chance Montecore smelled strange pussy on Roy?
  7. I used to deliver mail, and anytime I would cautiously approach a house where someone had a dog out loose, they'd ALWAYS say, "Don't worry, he doesn't bite." They were wrong. Twice.

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Sep 12, 2005 -> 11:30 AM) I remember a club I drove by. It was a two story club, the entire front open pretty much. LOUD THUMPING MUSIC. People all over the place. The were all guys. It was the first time I had ever seen a club of such. Mind sharing some stories about subsequent trips to such clubs?
  9. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 08:00 PM) This is gonna stick too. When Hawk gives you a nickname, it stays with you for your Baseball life. Like Sammy Sosa - "The Panther."
  10. QUOTE(JoshPR @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 10:55 PM) Maybe we sould get an Icon that looks like a Kiss...... I know what i would use it for Probably a girlfriend.
  11. Well, that makes sense. It seemed like, from the posts, that people had trouble identifying one another. Next year will be way better, I'm sure.
  12. I don't really want the guy to be banned, I was just pointing out that his post falls into the gray area of "Personal Attacks" where on a different night, with a different moderator, things might be different. If you read the link to the original "Personal Attacks" thread, you'll see that that's my basic stance. Mods do a great job. A job I certainly wouldn't be able to do. Thanks.
  13. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 10:20 PM) He didn't attack any player personally, he attacked their play on the field. "Shut up Ross. See you in Milwaukee next year, you whining wuss!"
  14. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 10:20 PM) He didn't attack any player personally, he attacked their play on the field. "what about this loser who should not be wearing a major league uniform?" Um, ok.
  15. I wasn't sure where this rant fell under the new "Personal Attacks" guidelines. Just trying to be helpful and weed out free thinking members of Soxtalk. http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=39261
  16. QUOTE(Colorado Sox Fan @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 09:57 PM) 1) Why is a .200 hitter starting for the Sox at first? Why is Geoff Blum in the majors? You talk about how Ozzie is in love with Timo, what about this loser who should not be wearing a major league uniform? Get him off the team. 2) MB is a nice number three starter, but no Cy Young candidate. Mark: instead of criticizing fan support, learn how to pitch with a lead. If you need examples, see Dewey Hoyt in 1983. A top pitcher doesn't give up the lead TWICE after his team battled back. Disgraceful!!! 3) There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with the upper deck at US Cellular. I sat almost in the top row and had a great view of the game. Anyone who criticizes the upper deck is a moron. Go to Yankee Stadium, or for that matter, Coors Field and sit at the top of the upper deck. Case closed. 4) I don't understand why there weren't more people at the game. I am not an attendance critic, but it was a beautiful Friday night against a top team in the AL and we couldn't break 30k. That's bad. However, I would never criticize someone who didn't go--ticket prices are too high and food and drinks are an outrage. I just think there are enough people in Chicagoland who could go to a game to see the best team in the majors fight it out against another top team. That said, I enjoyed having elbow room. 5) Ross Gload should shut his mouth until he gets a key hit or makes a play in the field. Poor throw on Guerrero. Shut up Ross. See you in Milwaukee next year, you whining wuss! 6) Sox fans are the best in the world! I shouted myself hoarse tonight and it was great to see such enthusiasm at the park. It's a shame our manager played another one of his curious lineups 7) Jenks is a stud! 8) This team won't go far with a manager who favors AAA ballplayers who shouldn't be near a major league stadium. 9) Sorry I couldn't see you guys Thursday night, but I had to work too late. Just as well--another frustrating game for Sox. 10) Despite everything, I want to go back Saturday and/or Sunday! I love the Chicago White Sox!!!! 11) Anytime Carl wants to get a hit, it's OK with me. Good night, God bless and take you shots, boys!!! Uh oh....bye bye.
  17. I'm not understanding how this thing was set up. It seems like you should have had a section all together, but, instead, were scattered all around the park. If it was anonymity you were seeking, you could have stayed home in front of your computer.
  18. I feel bad. These guys aren't making enough money now. I have $34 left from the second place money I won last year. Who do I make the check out to?
  19. QUOTE(SpringfieldFan @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 08:03 AM) It goes kind of like "bum BUM bum bum-bum bum, bum BUM bum bum-bum bum...". Does anyone recognize what song I am talking about? If not perhaps you could list the songs you know are played regularly and I could look them each up until I recognize it. SFF That's "The Little Drummer Boy."
  20. QUOTE(qwerty @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 05:44 PM) 1994 david cone won the cy young for the royals... the same year bob hamelin won the rookie of the year. That's true for the AL, in the NL Fernando won both in '81.
  21. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 06:20 AM) Finished product. I went with the longer bags. Why did you make the bags out of wood?
  22. Since people are talking attendance, did the Soxtalk & (I forget the other sox board name) outing ever happen? If so, was there tension like "West Side Story" and "Beat It?" Ooh, I can just imagine the dance off.
  23. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 6, 2005 -> 11:25 AM) There is no IMG button on your keyboard. There is however an IMG button here: I thought using green would be overkill in this case.
  24. OK, I've just spent the last 5 minutes looking for an IMG button on my keyboard. Must be an upgrade.
