  1. Parkman’s cousin is somewhat wrong. It’s monsoon season June 15 til the end of September. Not usually a ton of rain, but definitely some violent thunder and windstorms from time to time. It is humid - not Texas or Chicago humid - but humid enough when combined with 110 degrees that outside work isn’t easy. Most construction work is done by 2pm. Road construction is done at night. Being outside during the day is no joke. It’s not even comfortable to swim - the sun is so brutal. I hardly ever swim before dinner.
  2. July thru September outside in AZ are no joke. I assume they’d play night games, but it’s actually humid during those months in addition to being 100+ every day.
  3. Watch him when someone else is talking. He stands at the side swinging his arms and swaying back and forth like a six year old in church. Sounds like he’s ready to ignore the health experts so we “can get back to work.”
  4. He sounds like a dope. Providing summaries of what he “meant” is dishonest. The voting people need to see just how inept he is.
  5. Trump - not exactly a “buck stops here” type of leader during this crisis.
  6. Sad news. I probably liked him more than most - especially when he was paired with Rooney. Underrated announcer.
  7. Thanks, Tex. I’m a little like Ron Kittle. I won Rookie of the Year, am easily recognized (same avatar for 15 years), and now I’m just part of the White Sox scenery.
  8. Tomorrow is my 15 year anniversary on this site. I still check in pretty much every day. This site has been a blessing for an out of state Sox fan. Kudos to all who post and moderate. Hopefully, we have some baseball to talk about soon. This season is the most excited I’ve been about a team in several years.
  9. Not to make this political, but didn’t Trump & Fox News originally claim this virus was a hoax and/or politically motivated to make him look bad? Now he’s talking about how quickly, bigly, and greatly he reacted? So, which is it? A true pandemic or a hoax?
  10. Yep. Also, Coronavirus is a lower respiratory affliction. It shouldn’t feel like chest congestion. It’s more like pneumonia from what I’ve seen.
  11. I have pretty bad dust/grass/weed allergies, but I had to take care of my yard this weekend. Now, I have a sore throat, cough, and chest congestion. Not exactly the best time for those symptoms, but it’s typical for when I do a lot of yard work. As long as I don’t get a fever...
  12. It’s funny to see/hear Cubs fans complaining about the possibility of losing Bryant because of money. I’ve heard Kap, Silvy, Parkins, and a few other complaining on their shows. It’s a little hard to feel bad for a team that outspends 90% of the league. i hope nobody bails them out. I don’t want them to get anything for Bryant.
  13. I’m sure someone knows the answer - why are there always guys outside the stadiums buying extra tickets right before the game?
  14. Let’s not ignore that Keuchel said other teams were clearly doing it as well.
  15. Doesn’t it seem a little unlikely that there was a switch in the manager’s office that controlled a bulb on a sign in right center field? Did they really run wire halfway round the stadium? Who was sitting in the manager’s office during games, watching the monitor, and signaling to the players with this switch? Wouldn’t it only be useful in night games? Wouldn’t a light blinking on and off during the game be noticeable? I’m no LaRussa fan, and I agree that his head in the sand approach to steroids is laughable, but I can’t believe this allegation by McDowell.
  16. Berman showed more enthusiasm in HR Derbies at All Star games than he did in the El Duque inning. It's glaring. That's as tense as a playoff moment gets, and he shows zero excitement. i didn't mind Buck as much, but I watched my VHS tapes of the games a few years ago and had to laugh/shake my head when he was going on and on about Clemens and Pettite's special relationship and workout regimen.
  17. My phone’s facial recognition feature knows me when I’m on the toilet. Not sure that’s a good thing.
  18. It’s not a big deal. I was just pointing out that their most exciting period was the early 90s. They didn’t win the Super Bowl, but they were definitely a great team. Their “success” shouldn’t be minimized. It’s pretty remarkable that they kept making it when you consider recently the runner up often misses the playoffs the following year.
  19. Yeah, the early 90s Super Bowl teams were a snooze.
  20. I had the exact opposite reaction when I saw Eloy jog out to left field last year in Spring Training - very awkward stride when he runs.
