  1. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Apr 1, 2018 -> 10:20 PM) Easter Sunday + garbage team + I plan to monitor it all year. I notice it for teams throughout the league all season when I see highlights.
  2. A little different spin on the age old thread. I maintain that the Sox aren't the only team with an attendance problem. Exhibit A - Nationals @ Reds. http://www.espn.com/video/clip?id=22996266
  3. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 25, 2018 -> 06:31 AM) I agree with this. And I still don’t know how one person is going to protect a whole school. Once he or she is taken out, it’s, over. This doesn't solve the problem, either. The gunman will just move on to the next place that has a crowd of people and open fire. We've seen it at churches. Should we arm the pastor? We've seen it at a movie theater. Arm the popcorn guy? We've seen it at a night club. Arm the bouncers? Saw it in Vegas, and there aren't too many places with more security and surveillance than a casino. The psychos now have a template. Buy powerful weapons that can fire off rounds in rapid succession, go to a crowded place where people are corralled, and open fire. It's unrealistic to hire enough security to prevent this if the weapons are available. So, we have to eliminate the access.
  4. The original post was about the drugs CC was on started on page 21 (1/20/18 @ 8:31pm). It looks like that post was deleted, but you can see it in the quotes of subsequent posts.
  5. QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Feb 16, 2018 -> 07:09 PM) That 18 school shootings this year figure isnt exactly accurate... https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/no-the...m=.4e7203f9b404 Isn't the Washington Post one of the "fake news" sources? Why should we trust this story?
  6. QUOTE (KagakuOtoko @ Feb 11, 2018 -> 10:42 PM) Are confidence pools done by spreads? Generally, it's just picking the winner (straight up), and ranking them by confidence 16 points to 1 point. I use the point spread, as I'm sure everyone does. I also use the rule that Vegas gives the home team 3 points. But, if you use it strictly, it seems there's always an upset or two in the 10-12 range. I've never taken the time to see if there is a trend.
  7. My kid finally finished the project, so I thought I'd provide the result. First, the expectations for his project are much less than I had in grade school. All he really had to do was collect data and analyze it. If it had been more of an "experiment," the expectation would have been to perform the experiment and record the results. Then, a five minute presentation in class. When I was in school, it was that plus a 8-10 page typed research paper with bibliography, etc., and we had to do it on a typewriter. Such a pain. Anyway - the results (highly flawed due to sample size): Top 10% in High School class earned considerably more than those ranked 11%-last in the class. There were a few outliers that skewed the data toward this result, but overall, it seemed to trend that way if the outliers were removed. I'm just glad it's over. Thanks for your help.
  8. The only gambling I do is NFL Confidence Pools. I have a pretty good method that always keeps me at or near the top of the Overall Season Total. Week to week, I tend to do well but drop one or two of the big point games. I plan on looking back at last season and seeing if I can figure out a trend.
  9. QUOTE (greg775 @ Feb 10, 2018 -> 10:58 PM) We should do a poll of who wants greg to voluntarily leave Soxtalk and who wants him to stay. I still say I have a silent majority that would vote for Greg to stay. Well, if they are indeed "silent," your stay here is ova. I'd probably vote for you to stay, though. Of course, there's alway a chance I'd just write in Jesse Ventura or Ozzie Guillen.
  10. How many hours of research would you say you put into gambling per day? That's my 2000th post in 13 years, so give the answer a little thought.
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 4, 2018 -> 08:22 PM) Collinsworth might as well have been Bergman announcing the ALDS in 2005. What a disgrace My wife doesn't really watch sports outside of the big games, and she was complaining about the announcers all night. I agree. They were bad. What a slurp fest.
  12. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Feb 4, 2018 -> 08:00 PM) As I thought TD ! He caught the ball outside the 5'yard line. Definitely a TD. Would have been nice to have the obvious PI called.
  13. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Feb 4, 2018 -> 06:00 AM) Colorado gym teacher accused of assaulting student who wouldn't stand for pledge Cleve R. Wootson Jr. Washington Post A 20-year veteran teacher is accused of assaulting a middle school student who refused to stand for the Pledge of Allegiance, the latest incident in which a protest over the flag has devolved into apparent violence. The teacher is Karen Smith, who until recently taught physical education at Angevine Middle School, about 20 miles north of Denver. She couldn't immediately be reached for comment. They don't call it "physical education" for nothin'. Stand or you get a a whooping. Lesson learned.
  14. Last night, a guy (in his 20s) bowling against us threw 11 strikes in a row. they were like carbon copies of each other (except for 1 that had slightly different action). Going for the perfect game, he threw what looked like another perfect strike, but only knocked down 8 pins. Ended with a 298. Really disappointed for him, but it was so impressive to see in person. I had a 156 and felt like Earl Anthony.
  15. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jan 30, 2018 -> 10:01 PM) Just heard he did a great job on his speech and it was a big hit. Hmmmm ... Chris Matthews disagrees. It was available for your consumption and thoughts, yet you wait for the review. Why not just watch it yourself and tell us what you thought? Let me guess, you heard it was great from a ®eal news news source. Chris Matthews disagrees - fake news.
  16. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 29, 2018 -> 09:36 AM) I really really dont like Maher. He's a smarmy douchebag, and that may be too kind.
  17. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jan 27, 2018 -> 11:04 AM) I don't like trump. I do want prosperity. So yes i want him to succeed 1. Neither do I, and he's done nothing in his first year to change that. 2. I also want prosperity, but personal wealth (mine, yours, Trumps') shouldn't be at the expense of our rights, the environment, etc. Money isn't everything. As a Catholic, you might recognize "whatsoever you do to the least of My people, that you do unto Me." 3. Ultimately, I want Trump to succeed. I try not to think of politics as an us vs. them thing. If everything is good for the vast majority of people due to the policies of the current administration, what do I care if the person getting credit has a D or R next to their name? Truthfully, I don't notice much of difference personally no matter who is in charge. And, my response to your earlier post was that you wouldn't take the time to look up the stock market results for preceeding years. They were not all negative, as I recall. But, I don't recall Rs rushing to credit Obama.
  18. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 27, 2018 -> 05:06 AM) Go find yourself a chart. You may be in for a shock. Did you notice how much the economy improved under The democrat? Probably not, considering what cable and radio show you frequent. Trump uses the unemployment numbers now. Candidate Trump said they were phony numbers. There is an article you can google that tracks Trumps tweets about the stock market. When Obama was in office, bubble, bubble, going to crash. His first tweet about it while he was in office, bubble gone up all because of Trump. I feel like Greg will ignore this. Information learned flipping through channels (and landing briefly on a conservative radio or tv program) holds greater weight for Greg than any other form of information. And he doesn't even like Trump. But, come on guys...he's just askin'.
  19. Russell Westbrook was upset when he saw the list for the all star game because he was picked last. This inspired him to go for 46 against the Wizards and John Wall (who he was picked immediately after). https://nypost.com/2018/01/26/the-nba-has-r...l-of-petty/amp/ Turns out the list was sent out in alphabetical order. Westbrook is such a moron.
  20. QUOTE (Wanne @ Jan 20, 2018 -> 12:50 PM) lol...where the hell were you people from 2008 to 2016 with the Divider in Chief in charge? Barry did more to completely divide this country and stir up racial divide than anybody I've seen in my lifetime...but it all depends on what side of the fence you're on huh? I realize most on this board kissed his ass at every turn...they saw absolutely nothing he did as bad. That's your home boy from Chicago...I get it. It's why I usually never get involved in these type of threads/forums. Barry was just as despised...and by just as large a segment. There's more people in the country than just Chicago...NYC...and Califoria. What people don't seem to get...why Donny was elected isn't because of the D or R next to their name...it's because he's really neither...people are sick of both. Neither said gives a tinkers damn about you...or your family or well being. If you honestly think Democrats do...you're incredibly naive. It's all about "what can you do to get yourself re-elected". How/why do you think the spend so much money to take a meager salary...only to leave (if they ever do) as multi-millionaires? Newsflash...country has been split for quite some time. It's idiotic to blame it on Trump...but I'm sure the MSM will do it's best to "tone it down". lol.... Keep the masses at each other's throats....it's how people stay in control/power. This country isn't smart enough to figure that out yet.... You are clearly not familiar with Greg.
  21. Some of Trump's best friends are Haitian....
  22. I'm trying to adjust the color on my tv - not an easy task when Joe Buck's hair is my reference point.
  23. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 13, 2018 -> 06:37 AM) That post regularly anymore? Hard to think of any. Admitting to the R word in today's world can cost you your livelihood. Admitting on a Chicago White Sox message board that you are Republican can cost you your livelihood? Um, ok.
  24. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jan 9, 2018 -> 02:50 PM) Thanks soxfan. I wish peeps would read entire threads for comprehension. One poster was implying I had some reason for bashing Oprah and I'm not even bashing Oprah. I respect Oprah and like her for gosh sakes. If she ran against Trump and she did OK in the debates etc., I'd probably vote for her. I know I wouldn't vote for Donald. I didn't last time. I sat it out rather than waste my vote on Jesse V who had no chance as a write in. I'm pretty sure you've said numerous times that you voted for somebody but you did not want to reveal the name other than to say it was not trump, Hilary or The Body.
  25. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jan 9, 2018 -> 04:01 PM) I thought Trump was different. To me and the stuff I read (CNN, etc) I read a daily barrage of negative stuff on Trump. Can't remember anything good said about him in a long time, hence it seemed to me he was despised by about all. Might I suggest you start listening to Rush for ten minutes or so at a time during, I don't know, your lunch break?
