2017 AL Central Catch all thread
Middle Buffalo replied to southsider2k5's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE (ptatc @ Apr 14, 2017 -> 08:27 AM) Agreed. I like homers for game calls. It's annoying from the outside listening in but for fans of the team, that's what they should do. Different sport, but I don't get a super Homer vibe from Pat Foley & Eddie O on the Hawks games. They definitely call the game from the Hawks perspective, but I don't think they do it with blinders. I think it's possible in baseball. There are two teams out there and plenty of time, so a little research and some stories about the other team from time to time would be nice. -
I know Greg bothers some people, but his obtuseness continually entertains me. I'd love to think this is some character he is playing for the internets, but, nope, I think he really thinks it - types it.

Top White Sox Prospect Report - 4/14
Middle Buffalo replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in FutureSox Board
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 14, 2017 -> 07:54 AM) This will be our regular Friday base content. Owen will run down the Top 15 prospects in the system (and maybe others at times), looking at how they did in the past week and so far on the season as a whole, pointing out trends as warranted. It will give you a quick look at how all the high end talent is doing. Here is the first edition. As with all these new content formats, we are open to feedback! We may tweak things as we go on, and if you have suggestions, we are listening. Good stuff. Thanks. -
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Apr 11, 2017 -> 06:54 PM) I'm like the 6th person in America that has never watched GOT but this is a pretty solid idea. White Sox need to do s*** like this when they're good let alone rebuilding. I'm like the many in America that have watched every GOT (2x), but this is a pretty solid idea. White Sox need to do s*** like this when they're good let alone rebuilding.

I started listening to "Doughboys." It's 1 to 1.5 hours per episode. It's two guys and a guest reviewing a different chain restaurant each show. I've listened to 9. Surprisingly entertaining after you listen to a few.

J. Geils - 71. "Centerfold" remains one of the quintessential 80s songs. My older sister had the 45, and my brother & two other sisters played it over and over as we created havoc in the basement that we spent so many hours in when we were growing up.

Look, I think what he's trying to say, is that Hitler wasn't perfect, but....

I chose the beef. I think it's my favorite "Chicago" food. I love pizza, but I can tolerate almost all types. Even the cheap ones (Little Caesars, et al) have place in my life. Incidentally, I went vegan for Lent (basically no meat, fish, eggs, cheese - I'm not reading ingredient labels), and it hasn't been too hard. The no animal part of being a vegan is easy, but finding non-carb and non-canned food replacement meals makes it a little difficult. It's pretty inconvenient to be a healthy vegan if you don't want to go to the store every night for fresh vegetables & fruit.

A guy with a ponytail was walking out of the grocery store while I was on my way into the store. He said to a woman he was with, "...and I really thought the ponytail would help...." I'm very curious what he thought a ponytail would help him with.

QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Apr 8, 2017 -> 10:02 AM) The apocalypse won't be the gloom and doom people make it out to be. We will simply evolve from humans into vampires and werewolves thus taking another step up on the food chain. See, that doesn't sound so bad does it? I'm fine with being a vampire or werewolf, but those night time hours are going to be a killer. I'll still try to get to bed by 1 or 2.

2017 NFL off season thread
Middle Buffalo replied to southsider2k5's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
I imagine the Texans have a little interest in Cutler. -
His response was pretty fair, I think. He also pretty much said that he'll give you another game if you complain at the end of the month.

QUOTE (raBBit @ Apr 5, 2017 -> 01:31 PM) Do you have something to add here? Not really. I guess I could just make the same point over and over and refuse to be involved in any actual give and take. My preference is to pop in and out of threads and make a comment or two and move on to the next.

QUOTE (raBBit @ Apr 5, 2017 -> 01:15 PM) There's a difference between a typo and going on cable to cover your ass and opening with "I dindunuffin." But yeah, you got me. I don't know the difference between your/you're. How are you with there, they're, and their?

2017 White Sox Home and Away Uniform Change
Middle Buffalo replied to Frank_Thomas's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Apr 3, 2017 -> 09:24 AM) I think the peak Sox uniforms were the '05 era. - White, Gray, Black and Vests - Sock logo on the sleeve, not the main Sox logo Bring back the sock logo, make an updated '59 the Sunday jersey. Use '76 (Sale is gone), '83, and '88 as the occasional throwback. Agreed. -
QUOTE (raBBit @ Apr 5, 2017 -> 10:25 AM) Your mincing words. From the Susan Rice school of English?

QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Apr 5, 2017 -> 12:19 PM) This is the response I sent John, Thanks for the response. Speaking frankly, this is a bit frustrating. This package was marketed to fans as a value deal of a group of games. I realize things happen with April weather, but I believe it's disingenuous for the White Sox to walk back on the good faith value of 11 games for a refunded portion of a miniscule amount of money and 10 remaining games (maybe 9 now if tomorrow's weather is bad as well). The true value of this campaign is to get butts in seats in a down year, in my opinion, and I believe the White Sox always make a lot of money on concessions per fan, more than the value of the ticket that will go unsold. I would say that refunding $3.54 does nothing for the White Sox or me, but even a free upper reserved ticket in July gets me to a game, gets me to buy hot dogs, candy, beer and whatever else - and gets me to cheer on the squad. We both know this is a rebuilding year for this team, and that there are going to be dog games in July and August against not-popular teams where the organization will struggle at the gate - why give me $3.54 for each of two tickets back when the team could make $50 in concessions for giving ballpark passers the opportunity to exchange for an upper reserved ticket to a handful of organization-picked games? Sincerely, ***** I was going to suggest writing to them. I bet you get a positive response.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 30, 2017 -> 12:58 PM) While something like 62% of Americans are invested in the stock market.... This is largely due to the tax consequences of not putting money into IRAs or retirement plans. Of course, I'm sure it's ok when the government essentially forces people to invest money into the stock market or be penalized with a higher reportable income at tax time.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 30, 2017 -> 08:06 AM) It is a loss of freedom. Period. It is just as easy for the government to socialize pretty much anything because "it is for the public good". It is an absolutely terrible reason for anything when it comes to the power of the federal government. What about public schools? Should all schools from K-12 be tuition based, with only those who can afford it able to go?

QUOTE (hi8is @ Mar 27, 2017 -> 11:23 AM) This is worth the click... it's obvious his feet are royal f***ed up https://instagram.com/p/BSJkXGrFwrR/ That video is embarrassing.

This administration has already been reprimanded for endorsing individual companies & attacking others (Ivanka brands, Nordstrom....) How is Trump's constant endorsement of Fox vs. other media outlets any different?

QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Mar 21, 2017 -> 11:56 AM) Jerry Krause has passed Doesn't get enough credit for building a six time champ around MJ.

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Feb 15, 2017 -> 09:25 AM) Started listening to Bill Burr everyday at work...soooo funny. Burr is great, but I kind of tired of his solo podcast. He's always good as a guest. Not sure if they're available anywhere (pretty sure I listened on YouTube), but there are some really funny Opie & Anthony shows with Burr & Patrice O'Neal. Patrice O'Neal was an all time ball buster. I listened to several "My Dad Wrote a Porno." Pretty funny. It's not top of the rotation for me, but I'll check back in when I need some pod.

I'm usually irritated when I'm in traffic and it slows down to a complete crawl because someone on the other side of the highway has a flat tire. I think, why are people slowing down to look at that. That said, I'm thoroughly enjoying the opportunity to "rubber neck" at this car accident of a President the American people elected. This administration can't get out of its own way.
