  1. I don't think you can make a pro-choice abortion argument that sounds good. Trump wins this issue because he can give the extreme example of a late term abortion.
  2. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Oct 19, 2016 -> 06:09 PM) "SECOND AMENDMENT. PRO-LIFE" - Trump on Supreme Court Trump truly sounds like someone in college filling out a blue book on an essay exam. He is just stretching for time when he talks.
  3. QUOTE (whitesoxjr27 @ Oct 19, 2016 -> 03:38 PM) My friends want to meet up at Level 257 in schaumburg tonight. I don't know if i want to be in room full of cub lovers tonight whining if they lose or screaming if they win. Show up at half time.
  4. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 15, 2016 -> 07:41 PM) if we as Catholics vote for Clinton over Trump since one is pro abortion and the other anti (abortion) Pro-choice doesn't mean pro-abortion. However, Roe v. Wade declared abortion a legal right under the Constitution, and it's interesting that the "law and order" candidate is allegedly not interested in following that law. I guess we can pick and choose which laws we follow.
  5. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 15, 2016 -> 11:45 AM) 1)She is pro choice and Trump is pro life. 2)She also offended all catholics in the leaked emails, but it's getting no publicity. 1)I doubt Trump is actually pro-life. 2)12 years of Catholic school here, and I was not offended. I actually agree that there's a faction of Catholics that are as fundamentally nutty religious as any other fundamentalist religions.
  6. What Trump is doing with his taxes is neither illegal nor unethical. He's correct that we all take advantage of the write offs available to us. But, it's telling that he knows it looks really bad when held up against his public statements about the obligation to pay taxes, the need to build infrastructure and military (which take tax dollars), etc. Not being forthright from the beginning regarding his taxes is a definite sign that he knows it looks really bad and would be pounced on by his opponents in the primary and presidential races.
  7. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 13, 2016 -> 06:55 AM) Because what somebody did or didn't do 20 years ago is a more important qualification than what they can do in the future. 'Merica! Right or wrong, it's what is done. Remember when John Kerry's post Vietnam protest was a big deal in 2004? The whole swift boat controversy was somehow relevant despite running against a guy who basically dodged the war.
  8. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 13, 2016 -> 05:16 AM) Greg, one thing you've never done is articulated a legit argument for Ventura. It should be pointed out that Ventura isn't in the race, so his past misdeeds (if any) haven't been brought to to light. But, as soon as he or anyone else enters, their past becomes a real issue. My guess is that a guy who made his living as an outlandish professional wrestler in the 70s and 80s probably has some skeletons in his closet that he'd like to keep there.
  9. QUOTE (iamshack @ Oct 4, 2016 -> 09:16 AM) Yeah, that is a great point about safety. Drowning is the largest cause of accidental death for children below the age of 16 in southern Nevada (or something like that). For the pool option, we were planning on an automatic pool cover to help provide additional security, in addition to the legally required fences and what not. As for what would we get more usage out of...I honestly don't know...I know as a kid I would have been out on that sport court as much as I could...heck, I used to throw a ball against the brick wall of my house for hours at a time...I can only imagine if I would have had something like that. The pavilion is also pretty cool, but I just wonder if that really offers activities we can't already do, just outside...not sure that is worth the kind of $ a project like that would require. I had a pool before I moved. Vegas weather is similar to my situation in AZ, and as nice as it is to have a pool when you want to use it (especially with out of town guests, etc), it often goes unused for big stretches of time. It's kind of a pain to maintain, and believe it or not, it can be too hot outside to even be comfortable in a pool in the summer. So, you're limited to night swimming and a slightly longer swim season. But, with the desert nights cooling like they do, the water doesn't get to a comfortable temp until May and goes away in September.
  10. Sad that I clicked on this to find out who the "evil empire" is. Gotta turn my baseball mind back on. From a 23-10 start to the manager getting fired - I checked out at mid-season.
  11. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 5, 2016 -> 12:55 PM) I mean those slave-owning, wig-wearing- wooden tooth having politicians were completely perfect in writing their blueprint for the next few centuries. That's why it has never been amended.
  12. QUOTE (knightni @ Oct 4, 2016 -> 05:07 AM) Pray tell... what is the correct way to protest in greg's world? The idea of protest is to get attention to your cause so that change can happen. Vote for someone who's isn't running for President. It's the best way to thank our veterans for their sacrifices. I'm voting for David Letterman. He showed us how to laugh after 9/11.
  13. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 5, 2016 -> 05:42 AM) Buck will forever be the guy that will get you to the door, but will never be able to walk you through it I'd take him with the Sox. He clearly knows how to build a team.
  14. My Dad would classify this as a case of someone who can dish it out, but can't take it.
  15. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 3, 2016 -> 09:41 AM) When did he say that? I may have missed it. SS2k did not say "All," but his statement also did not qualify what he thought HC was running on beside Bill's record. He said that HC is running on her husband's record. The implication is that is all she is running on. SS2k did not say she's "basically" or "mostly" or any other words that would imply that he thinks HC brings anything more to the table than Bill's presidency.
  16. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 2, 2016 -> 09:26 PM) Now Jesse Ventura or Bernie? We like! Everyone likes the backup QB. If they were the candidates, the two parties would have spent the past few months trashing them. Then we'd all hate them.
  17. I went to Walmart today (a place I try to avoid), and I know it's a cliche, but oh, the humanity.
  18. QUOTE (Reddy @ Oct 2, 2016 -> 11:11 AM) It's just basic human nature, and it's not going to change. If it's YOUR candidate, you applaud their "evolution" on an issue. If it's THEIR candidate, they've "flip flopped" and they're "pandering" to win an election. Just like Ben Franklin said about the Revolution: "A rebellion is always legal in the first person, such as "our rebellion." It is only in the third person - "their rebellion" - that it becomes illegal." Same diff. No doubt. Ol' Ben had a way with words.
  19. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 2, 2016 -> 08:13 AM) Well, the present election is a good example. Hillary being dinged for her husband's trade policies from 20+ years ago or using the term "super predators," it goes with the territory. Two events that happened twenty years ago, related to Alicia Machado and Trump's Federal taxes/losses, are going to help decide the election in her favor. Maybe that's why Obama had an advantage in 2008, having more of a blank slate and much less of a record to run on or against, but looking at only "recent" comments would generally lead to younger and even more inexperienced candidates, yes? Yeah, there is really not a clean solution. I just find it a little head scratching that something someone said 20 years ago that they might not feel now is still a point of emphasis in an election. In this election, Trump has the advantage of never actually voting for any of the current policies, so he is similar to Obama in lack of experience I like to think that I'm not the same person I was 20 years ago, 10 years ago,.....
  20. I clicked on this story on yahoo ranking the top 10 qbs of all time. It's preposterous to me that Troy Aikman is in the top 10. http://newarena.com/nfl/counting-down-the-..._content=aikman His TD/INT ratio is way worse than Jay Cutler's, which is almost unfathomable. And that's with a HOF WR, HOF RB, And the best line in football for most of his career. Aikman http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/A/AikmTr00.htm Cutler http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/C/CutlJa00.htm
  21. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Oct 2, 2016 -> 05:30 AM) Oh no? 1983 - White Sox first Chicago baseball team to draw two million fans. 2006 - Sox max out on season ticket packages, draw just short of three million with nearly 60 sell outs that season. Only the reduced capacity of the ballpark due to Reinsdorf lopping off the top eight rows of the upper deck a few seasons prior prevents the Sox from blowing attendance records out of the water that year. Yeah, but...
  22. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 2, 2016 -> 03:07 AM) If you bought into his transition to a moderate Republican and stripped away all of his extreme viewpoints and statements over the years. He seemed more on point regarding economic solutions and uplifting the middle class than most of his fellow Republicans. This is one of the things I find very odd about politics, and I mean it in regard to how all politicians are treated. We bring up their voting record and and things they said 15 years ago and hold them to it today. It's like they aren't allowed to grow or change opinions without it being called a lie or "flip flop." I understand that their voting records and statements they've made are important, but if 15 years ago I said something that showed a blind devotion to law enforcement, and today I was critical, doesn't that show that I'm paying attention? Would it really be better for me to view a police brutality video and act like I wasn't able to see what was on the video? Again, I don't mean this in a partisan way. I mean it in regard to social, economic, and policy issues. I'm not sure why politicians aren't allowed to grow or change as long as they can justify the change.
  23. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 30, 2016 -> 04:20 PM) How can you say that? I quote different announcers/broadcasters/shows; I link to a lot of articles; I express my opinions about both candidates whom I dislike. How can you say I provide nothing of substance when I link articles? Just cause I guess I have opinions different from yours I must be worthless poster in your eyes. Again ... I post links and examples. I don't know that I've seen evidence of you disparaging both top candidates in the same manner, but that's your right. You seem to be a little more aggressive when it comes to HC. I also don't see evidence that you "learn" from things others post. Also your right. You often acknowledge a good point made that is in opposition to one of your posts, which is fairly uncommon in this forum, but then you go right back to posting the same things. On another topic of sorts, I wonder how you can justify saying that you are going to vote for Jesse Ventura, who, last I checked, isn't running. That seems like you are not taking your right to vote seriously. That, to me, is a slap in the face of our military who have sacrificed for that right. Yet, you are so upset that football players are not honoring the National Anthem and flag properly because it is an affront to our military.
  24. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 27, 2016 -> 08:23 PM) This is an example of the bias against Trump. This is in a news story on CNN.com not an opinion piece. ... The sentence says: "With no apparent consideration for the political recklessness of his crude comments, Trump once again went after Machado's physical appearance, bringing her up on his own." The writer said the comments were "crude" and says they were politically "reckless." Says who? This is how you can tell the writer of the story favors Hillary over Trump. And don't get me started with the TV folks like Chris Matthews. He basically issued a love letter to Hillary making sure he had the first crack at who won the debate. He screamed that it was a shutout with HIllary hitting five home runs to Trump's none. Cmon Chris. Any Trump supporter could point to five zinger lines Trump had that would look good as soundbites as well as Hillary's. If Hillary won, it was by a very very small margin. The bias amazes me. I just saw a yahoo article that referred to Trump's crude behavior, but it also said that Hillary pretends to be amused when you know she's not. My head is spinning. Must be a subliminal attempt to prop up a third party candidate. Perhaps Governer "The Body" will be getting my vote.
