$$$$ fine for Ol' Billy B $$$$ fine for Kraft Take 1st & 2nd round picks from them for next three years. Might seem harsh, but at this point they're repeat offenders and its institutional. They're not showing respect for "the Shield." Poor guy whose job it is to take the air out of the balls is probably getting his a$$ chewed for missing one. 11 of 12 is unacceptable. -
mlb.com has some videos of Ryan Dempster at the Cubs convention doing impressions, etc. I guess he's funny (for a baseball player), but I find him unbearable.

The chord for my iron is 12 feet long. I can't think of a situation where I'd be ironing 12 feet from the outlet.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 15, 2015 -> 03:40 PM) Does sports radio ever make you feel differently? I finally quit listening to it. I've been able to listen all day to various shows (Monsters, Heavy Fuel Crew, MJH, Waddle & Silvy, a local AZ show , etc) for twenty years while I work, but recently I realized I couldn't take every day recently being a referendum on the merits of Cutler as a QB. The hosts never say anything different. The callers never really say anything different, and since most shows just have the same schedule of guests weekly, that never changes. It's amazing. Regardless of the facts or arguments presented, people never seem to be willing to change their opinions about anything. It really hasn't been that hard to move on from sports talk. I'm sure I'll go back from time to time, but I think I'm done as an everyday listener. I'll tune back in for info about the drafts or any major news, but as a daily thing I think I'm done. -

All Dez had to do was catch he ball. He did not need to stretch for a TD. In stretching for a TD, the ball was jarred loose by the ground. Good call. I'll add that I was rooting for Dallas, but Dez routinely acts like an idiot, so I'm not surprised he isn't smart enough to know that the situation called for a catch, not a TD. -

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 9, 2015 -> 12:55 PM) Bottom line, the most successful coaches, manage everyone the same damn way (not necessarily same message, but the ego's and dollars are checked at the door and the best players win and everyone is disciplined and held to the same standards). Jimmy Johnson cut a guy for falling asleep in a meeting (John Roper?). He was asked what he would have done if it was Troy Aikman, and Johnson said he would have woken Troy up. Not everyone is treated the same, nor should they be. http://m.bleacherreport.com/articles/55409...-legend/page/23 -

QUOTE (gatnom @ Dec 29, 2014 -> 03:15 PM) I know a lot of people that my parents live near that would freak out the second a black person moves in, and that is completely wrong. Not replying specifically to address your parents or their neighbors, but the "white flight" isn't always as simple as racism or prejudice. Plenty of people are motivated by their largest personal investment rapidly being devalued as their neighbors dump their houses and run to the next town. And, this flight happens within racial groups, too. Black people move out of black neighborhoods. Hispanic people move out of Hispanic neighborhoods. The reasons are usually a little more nuanced than race alone as a factor. Gentrification is a cycle tha reoccurs in all large cities. A big factor that leads to it is access to transportation. It's how big cities got big. People with more money wanted bigger houses and more land, so they move out of the city. Roads were built to support that. People with less money try to live close to their jobs. They don't have they money to maintain their houses. Property values drop. Taxes drop. Services drop. People see opportunity to buy fixer uppers. Neighborhood slowly changes for the positive. Rinse. Repeat. It's not only black or Hispanic neighborhoods that undergo gentrification, either. See the neighborhoods right around the Cell for an example.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 31, 2014 -> 07:03 AM) A quarter to a third of Cutlers good stats came at the end of blowout games That's probably not accurate (just anecdotal), and I could just as easily say that Rodgers put up the bulk of his statistics in blowouts where the defense very likely quit against him. Were Rivers' stats put up at the end of games? Point is, statistically, Cutler measures up with most non-elite qbs. He's paid as elite, but some of that was cap maneuvering. I'm pretty sure his salary goes down pretty drastically the nex two seasons. -

http://www.nfl.com/stats/categorystats?tab...;seasonType=REG So, statistically, Cutler's season was virtually identical to Phil Rivers. Rivers threw for 17yds/game more, but the rest is pretty similar (including tying for most INTs). Rivers choked away a playoff birth against a Chiefs team that was completely beat up. Yet, Rivers is a media darling. He's a great leader, teammate, husband, father,.... So much of the analysis of these players is based on media perception of their personalities. I'm not making excuses for Cutler. I don't have much confidence in him, but I wouldn't have much confidence in anyone not named Brady or Rodgers. -

It seems like the in thing for receivers is to try to make one hand catches and its leading to drops -

The Cutler piling on continues. Last two plays were Forte's fault. 1st play Forte was set up outside and cutler called him into the backfield to block. Forte whiffed on the blitzer. Next play is a screen and Forte gets lost behind the defensive lineman. There was nowhere to throw. There's no way cutler could avoid that sack. Nonsense by Gruden. -

Any chance they can move cutler around a little? -
I've listened to all, I think. I might be one behind. It's pretty good, and I can't figure out if Adnan is guilty. It seems to me that the friend is pretty heavily involved or may have done it, but I'm not sure of the motive.

QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Dec 2, 2014 -> 07:27 PM) "Runaround Sue" by Dion. I don't know about any more but Nancy Faust used to play it a lot and the whole crowd would sing. Those were the days. That is something the sox need to bring back. I don't remember when or why it was sung, but I remember the whole crowd sing the "whoa oh oh..." part.

QUOTE (MAX @ Nov 15, 2014 -> 07:57 AM) That was fun. Those HR derby shots really had no place among the others though. How far were the rooftop shots at Comiskey?

QUOTE (scs787 @ Nov 27, 2014 -> 09:21 PM) I'm right here...I blame the OL I think a big problem with the Bears offense is that their two primary WRs are basically very good, very big possession receivers. They don't get any separation from the DBs, so every successful pass play is either a screen, a short route where they "box out" the DB, or a jump ball. They have no ability to stretch the field or get deep, so the defense is able to be much more compact than if the Bears could get deep from time to time. -

Rodgers threw back across his body on that td. Every commentator will say it's forbidden when the result is an interception. When the result is a td, nothing but praise for the throw. -

Am I the only one who liked the Payton era all white road uniforms? I don't know if it's just nostalgia, but I much prefer them to the road uniforms they wear now. -
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Oct 31, 2014 -> 04:51 PM) It's obviously everywhere because it's the Cubs but it'd get a lot of play if the White Sox did it. For sure it would. Many shows in town on radio would cover it. I didn't say it wouldn't be covered. If the Sox made this move, it would have been reported, that's it. Waddle & Silvy devoted the first two hours of Fridays show (while they were at the UC for Bulls/Cavs) to Joe Maddon coverage. Monday started with the press conference and Joe Maddon ball washing for a good portion of the remaining show. It may turn out to be a great move. It's a move they had to make. If the Sox did it, it would be a blip in media coverage.

They have to get rid of these timeouts at the end of games. It's unbearable. -
I understand that this is a good move for the Cubs. Their fans should be excited. However, the slurping from the media gets old. If the Sox were making this move, it wouldn't even register in local media. Espn 1000 would have Doug Padilla on and ask him a few questions and that would be it. No Plesac, Law, etc. that have or will be on because it's the Cubbies. I'm past the point where I root against the Cubs. I am rooting against Theo & Crew. I want them to fail because of the media worship they get.
