  1. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Apr 28, 2014 -> 06:27 AM) Well the Bulls played like crap and Hinrich was an uber turnover machine. Taj was beasting. I love that guy. I think the Bulls win the next game and then drop the 4th contest in Washington. Heinrich had 4 of their 16 turnovers. He was terrible, but only had one more turnover than Noah and Taj had.
  2. Left forearm hair starting to turn gray. Right arm still brunette.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 7, 2014 -> 11:57 AM) Well done by SSS http://www.southsidesox.com/2014/4/6/55852..._campaign=blogs That was really good. It will be completely ignored, of course. The Reds had similar crowds last year in September. I always pay attention to crowds when I watch highlights, so I remember their small outfield crowds standing out. Yankee stadium always has almost all of the seats behind home plate open, also, because they're ridiculously expensive.
  4. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Feb 11, 2014 -> 08:11 PM) I'm not sure what you're asking exactly but you would set the box up in your parents basement. Then in AZ you get access to all their channels. That tv will have to be on whatever you in AZ are watching but you can actually change the channel from AZ and the tv will also change to it. You answered my question. Thanks.
  5. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Feb 11, 2014 -> 01:36 PM) Yes, but if you only ever watch sports, and have a friend who watches the same sports, you can have one cable subscription and one sling box instead of two cable subscriptions. OR, if you live outside of the range of CSN Chicago and your father lives inside the range, you can watch Sox games on the Sling Box while he is watching at home. Does the person in Chicago have to be watching the game, or does it work as long as that tv isn't on another program. I've been thinking about getting a sling box for my parents' house in Chicago so I can watch Bears and Sox games in AZ. They have a tv in the basement that they never use (it is hooked up to cable).
  6. Is Lone Survivor appropriate for a 10 & 12 year old boy? Not really worried about language - more concerned about graphic violence that might lead to nightmares.
  7. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 19, 2014 -> 05:08 PM) In what world is shoulder to shoulder a penalty? They make it easy on the refs when they don't bring their arms up when making the tackle. Without arms, it always looks like a missile being launched.
  8. I love Bobby Jenks. I'd be all for the Sox signing him and helping him get his life back on track. I'd love it if he could help us down the road, but I really don't care. The Sox don't owe him anything, but I'd have so much respect for the organization if they signed him to a minor league deal. Every so often I pop in one of the WS games and watch. Jenks looks so innocent when he comes into the game. He looks likes he's overwhelmed. Then he starts throwing nasty stuff.
  9. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Jan 5, 2014 -> 05:24 PM) Aikman did point it out. Oops. Not sure how I missed that.
  10. Refs miss holding on virtually every play, but I don't understand how buck and aikman cann see the Rodgers replay twice and not point out the obvious hold on the play that allowed Rodgers to escape. It has to be an nfl mandate.
  11. I'd say the same thing to Phil Emery that I said to my daughter when she was being potty trained - "front to back." A good d-line (specifically good tackles) will make it easier for everyone else. Conte's bad, but I don't know that I've ever seen a safety one on one with a running back running untouched by the d-line and linebackers as much as I've seen Conte.
  12. My wife starts way too many "conversations" with, "Someone just posted this on Facebook...." I know that she knows I don't care, but she tells me anyway.
  13. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 31, 2013 -> 03:17 PM) Every year people make resolutions, and fail to keep them. Sometimes minutes after the new years ball drops. I am going to share my one resolution with you guys, and if you so wish, share one of your own. Over the last two years I have gained some unhealthy weight. I am by no means morbidly obese, but I have gained some weight that I notice every day when I see myself in the mirror. Im not going on a crash diet, but I am cutting out soft drinks, eating sugary snacks, and replacing them with fruit and veggies. I am replacing leftovers for lunch with salads, and I am going to walk a minimum one mile a day as well as start a morning excercise routine. My father has had not one, but two triple bypasses done in my lifetime, and frankly at 35 years old that scares me. His first triple bypass was when he was 35. I dont drink much at all(he drank pretty hard), I dont smoke(he still does, at least a pack a day), and i am a lot more active at this point in my life than he ever was, but at the same time I am starting to feel effects of getting older and I am not really pleased with it. I dont want my kids to see what I saw. I just wanted to write this down, "say it out loud" if you will, so i could go back and look at it and try and keep this resolution. Comment if you want, make your own resolution if you want. Any way about it, have a happy new year! Do these three things and the weight will come off quickly and in a healthy way. You should also sign up for one of the free diet sites/apps that allow you to count calories and log what you eat every day. I signed up http://caloriecount.about.com/ for a few years ago and it (sites like it) are really good for seeing what you are eating daily and helping you make informed decisions regarding necessary nutrients (protein, vitamins, etc) that come from a balanced diet. Good luck.
  14. QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Dec 21, 2013 -> 11:35 AM) First order of business in the next CBA should be the trading of draft picks. They did some nice work in the last CBA negotiations laying groundwork for it so hopefully that happens. If a team (like say the Sox next draft) saw a deep draft ahead and would rather trade the #3 and a player for a #10, #12 and a #60 or something along those lines, with the bonus pools coming in the trade, then that would be a great option to have. That makes too much sense for mlb. The only negative I can think of is hearing how great Theo is at trading for multiple picks.
  15. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 18, 2013 -> 04:27 PM) Ok seriously, why is it so f***in hard for people to say Alshon JEFFERY? Herm Edwardson just called him Jefferies on sportscenter. I just don't get it. Herm Edwards? See, it's not as easy as you think.
  16. QUOTE (bshah723 @ Dec 17, 2013 -> 09:21 PM) where did you see this/hear this? Carmen & Jurko mentioned it. Mac had coffee with Adam Delavit? - the PD. Carmen even sang "reunited" while they were talking about it. I'm guessing they'd eventually move him into Carmen's seat, though. Maybe waddle goes to more national stuff with the network and Carmen moves back to shows with Silvy?
  17. QUOTE (Tex @ Nov 22, 2013 -> 12:15 PM) By my count there were 10 - 12 years of hmm, is there something? Then 5 or 6 years of "don't look over there, it's selling tickets". Finally a few years of trying to get it cleaned up. I doubt it took 10-12 years in an athletic environment for athletes, trainers, and medical professionals to figure out PEDs were rampant in the clubhouses. If someone at my job, your job, any job is up to something, word spreads pretty quickly. That could be affairs, drug use, alcoholism - you name it. People like to talk. There were 10-12 years of teams and reporters ignoring the information available. The fans were a little slower to catch on because the fans were fed improved technology, smaller ballparks, tighter winding of the baseballs, etc. Propaganda in other words. That said, count me among those who think ARod is a victim of a witch hunt, and a part of me wants to see him get off just to stick it to the Yankees and MLB. And I'm not an ARod fan. And I'm one of the old school fans who loves baseball a little less because PEDs ruined the stats that I grew up memorizing.
  18. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 10, 2013 -> 06:16 AM) I think if the Sox actually won 10 in a row like he said, and the Cubs continued being the Cubs, he would be wrong, but I do think it would take something really extreme. Not just winning once or twice. But there definitely was a change in Cubs' fans attitudes once the Sox did win. There is no denying that. 10 in a row would surely change some minds, but the real problem that the Sox have to contend with is that the media is about 80% Cubs fans. If that doesn't change, it really won't matter. The media basically act as and advertising wing of the Cubs.
  19. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Aug 26, 2013 -> 02:48 PM) I have to say, I think Hawk's TWTW thing is stupid and overblown.... I agree in as much as Hawk's dismissal of "modern" statistical player evaluations is short sited and comes off as bitter old guy. However, TWTW in some manner is what most people point to when they compare someone like LeBron James to Michael Jordan (or insert your own example of hero of yesteryear to current player). They always point to Michael's will and refusal to lose as the thing that separates him from everyone. Bill Russell had TWTW. Wilt Chamberlain did not. Really, how is it acceptable for ex-jocks and broadcasters to constantly say things like that, but Hawk's TWTW is the subject of ridicule?
  20. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 20, 2013 -> 06:29 PM) Why are the Sox and Royals combining announcers? It's a cool idea. Although it won't officially become a cool idea until the Cubs do it.
  21. QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 8, 2013 -> 04:17 PM) Probably for ptac, I'm having shoulder pain. When I move my arm like I'm throwing, I feel it but it doesn't hurt, but when I lift my arm like a chicken wing, I feel a pinch or strain. Sound serious? Serious enough that you should stop lifting your arm like its a chicken wing. Problem solved.
  22. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Aug 5, 2013 -> 09:34 PM) Sale is obviously great. Alexei never played in the minors, so he doesn't count. This organization can produce pitchers but we absolutely can not develop young hitters, that needs to change. I thought about the Sale thing after I posted it, so strike that. And we signed Alexei, so I give the Sox credit for that. It's splitting hairs, but I think the Sox should get some credit for developing him on the major league level.
  23. 4/10. No excuses - just dumb. Which I suppose, in a way, is an excuse. That makes me a liar, too.
  24. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 5, 2013 -> 07:38 PM) The important thing down the stretch is the production of our future pieces. If we lose, I want to lose with our talented young players doing well (and our pitchers kicking ass)...basically exactly like we have during the losing streak. I don't pretend to know much about our minor leaguers, but all I ever hear is how bad they are and how bad our system has been for years. Nate Jones, Quintana, Reed, Santiago, Sale, Beckham, Alexei Ramirez, Viciedo - not terrible production coming from a team's minor leagues. Granted, no superstars, but decent depth. Again, I'm not saying any of them are great, but they're all legit major leaguers.
  25. It's crazy that I was actually getting mad watching that video.
