I made one....Let's just say it definitely wasn't one of my better angles or hers. After that viewing I quit the video biz. The chick did let me keep it to though...I tossed it, but still....she didn't know that. Tossed what? Was there a solo act? I'm very confused.

It should be branded, then sent to Cooperstown. I'd love to see if they'd display the ball with an asterisk on it.

#500 as a walk off, is this a first??

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Sep 17, 2007 -> 06:50 AM) Oh, and he along with A-Rod, Griffey, and Frank (well and soon to be Manny Ramirez, probably in 2008) are the CLEAN guys to hit 500 plus home runs in the era of the cheats. Unfortunately, we don't really know that about any of these guys. I'm not accusing any of them, but the reality is that all MLB players are guilty by association. -
QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Sep 16, 2007 -> 11:57 PM) yeah but HR's and RBI's are really big stats to look at when people make an MVP vote.... i think if they all had the same season this year Dawson would still win out. Now if your asking which player id personally vote for, prob davis. Approaching 50 HRs was a key, too. It hadn't been done since 1977 (George Foster). Still not crazy about a guy winning on a last place team, but Dawson's season was really great. I don't think he's a HOF player either, though. This is why we have an illegal immigration problem.
Middle Buffalo replied to NUKE_CLEVELAND's topic in The Filibuster
I like how so many people only point to the negatives of illegal immigrants, and how they seem to believe that there would be little impact in removing them from our economy. As has been pointed out, many illegals have valid SS numbers. It may not be theirs, but they are employed, and they do, in fact, pay into SS and the other taxes that we all pay. Unfortunately for them, they won't see the benefits when the time comes to draw the money out. For those illegals who work "off the books," how is it any different from the countless Americans who do the same? Or do American citizens honestly report all of their income to the government? I think we all know people who do "side jobs" for cash. Illegals buy goods (cars, gas, clothing, food, etc) here in the US for personal consumption. Remove them, and how do some of these smaller businesses survive. Illegals rent properties (houses and apts). Remove them, and how do landlords survive? Why should US business owners pay the price because the government failed to secure the borders and control the flow of immigration? Also, it's a bit short-sighted to point out that native Spanish speakers place a strain on the education system because we have to hire teachers to teach them How do we know they are illegal? Many illegals have children born here in the US, and according to the laws of our land, these children are US citizens. They have valid birth certificates and social security numbers. Do we deny these legal US citizens their Constitutional rights? Sure illegals in some ways place a strain on the economy, healthcare, and educational systems, but they also create value. I don't think solutions like massive deportation or building a wall are viable options. In fact, if we do build a wall, it's only as effective as the people we entrust with the job of guarding who comes and goes - and it's a little naive to think that guards can't be bought off by coyotes. It happens every day. Not everyone who entered this country illegally did so by wading accross a river or trekking through a desert or underground through sewer lines. -

Middle Buffalo replied to NUKE_CLEVELAND's topic in The Filibuster
QUOTE(Texsox @ Sep 5, 2007 -> 09:13 PM) Couple points I disagree with. Economics is one reason people want to come here, but isn't this the land of opportunity? Don't we want to be that shining beacon of hope around the land? Freedom, the good life, etc. Or is the American dream dead? There are a lot more than 12,000,000 wanting to move to the US. Amnesty means different things to different people. If you are saying no instant citizenship, I'm with you. If you are saying no path to full, legal status, ever, I disagree. If you have been living here and leading a good life, your neighbors like you, you've been working regularly, the cops do not know you, I'd rather you stay then take what's behind door number one, two, or three. Ironically, many of the people who are most outraged by the US illegal immigration problem are in favor of the war in Iraq. A war that we are fighting (it's been said) in order to give the Iraqi citizens all of the rights and liberties that we hold so dear in this country. Why don't we want to extend this great gift of freedom and the American way to all people? -

Anyone know how to get podcasts to load in sequential order. I download radio shows, and they load backwards. So after each segment, I have to go back and load the next segment. I know there must be a way because mine used to load the proper way, but I had to restore it recently. Help! I'm beginning to dislike iTechnology.

QUOTE(vandy125 @ Aug 31, 2007 -> 08:44 AM) I had this happen to me recently, and I had to "rebuild" the Ipod (I forget what their terminlogy actually is). Basically had to have everything cleared out on the Ipod and reloaded. That's what I did. Under devices, I went to owner's iPod and hit restore. It wiped out everything on the iPod and restored the original settings. It's not a big deal to me because I mostly use it for podcasts, and it reloaded all the checked items in my iTunes. It didn't affect my iTunes library in any way. It would have sucked if I had a bunch of pictures, etc stored, though. I couldn't find any other solution in the help section.

QUOTE(The Critic @ Aug 31, 2007 -> 05:28 AM) I don't subscribe to the podcasts I like anymore, I just download them as mp3s, set the genre as "podcast", and find them by pressing "music, genres, podcast", then the artist. I did the same thing for a few days, but now "podcast" has disappeared from the "genres" list. I can't even find the podcasts under songs or artists like I have a few times.

I listen to podcasts on my iPod, and all of a sudden today I can't get them to work. All of the music I have loaded will play, but under podcasts, it shows nothing. I have them in iTunes, and I have them checked to be synced to the iPod, but they don't show up anywhere. Anyone have any idea how to get them to load?

The bad news for DMX is that the sheriff of Maricopa County, Joe Arpaio, is a dog lover. So much so that he has converted an air-conditioned prison that was not "livable" by humans into a dog shelter. Now he has the humans displaced living in tents outside in 110 degree weather. http://www.thevoicefordogs.org/Headlines/SheriffJoe.shtml

QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 22, 2007 -> 01:33 PM) He'll still be the co-signer on the the loan though. It seems to be better that he's on the title. That way he can at least get it back and sell it minimizing his loss. If he wasn't he'd be screwed paying it, or letting it ruin his credit without being able to do anything about it. I was thinking he could remove his daughter's name if he is able to show the bank that she is unable/unwilling to pay, and that he will make the payments until he can sell the vehicle.
-
In Arizona, you can petition the lien holder to remove a name from the title. http://www.azdot.gov/mvd/faqs/scripts/faqs.asp?section=tr (See #20 & 4) It would seem that you could do the same in Illinois. Similar question regarding car titles. If someone abandons a vehicle on my property (it's a rental property), is there a way for me to legally take position and title of the vehicle?

I routinely know 1 of the 10 or 11 songs listed on this thread. Most of the time, I've never even heard of the artists. I'm so stuck in the mid 80s to early 90s. And even then, it's only the stuff that was popular on the radio. One day I'll post my list, and I'll immediately be chased off the board by Kid Gleason or the Critic. Today, my shuffle consisted of old Tony Kornheiser shows, Brandmeiers latest, selected bits yesterday's Adam Carolla show, and Mac Jurko and Harry. I'm afraid to list any of the music I listen to.

I found a pretty good free site with a google search. fftoolbox.com has free leagues and cheat sheets. The best part is that when you register, you can modify the cheat sheets according to the scoring rules in your league. They have a generic default ranking for all the positions and a top 100, but I'm in two leagues with different scoring rules, so drafting is always a little bit of a nightmare. With the customized cheat sheets, I should take my rightful place at the top of both leagues. Of course, I was lucky enough to land the 10th pick in both 10 team leagues. -
Gwynn, Ripken are HOF Class of 2007
Middle Buffalo replied to sox4lifeinPA's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 31, 2007 -> 10:00 AM) I'm just ecstatic to see this year's class be two truly professional, admirable human beings. Its a nice change from some of the players currently among the elite active ones. Nice trend. Sandberg was deserving for years, as well, and he made a very good speech at the induction ceremonies that was echoed this year by Gwynn and Ripken. -
Gwynn, Ripken are HOF Class of 2007
Middle Buffalo replied to sox4lifeinPA's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 31, 2007 -> 09:49 AM) This is the thing. When you think about Cal Ripken, you compare him with the greatest SS's of all time. When you think of Tony Gwynn, you compare him with the greatest hitters of all time, not just the ones at his position. You compare Ripken to Derek Jeter. You compare Gwynn to Ted Williams. The fact that Ripken is one of the best-hitting shortstops of all time does not make him a better fit for the HOF over Gwynn, one of the greatest hitters, period. Not that you were saying Ripken is more deserving. True, and Gwynn simply does not compare to Williams because he just slapped singles. The reason you consider HOF by position is because some positions take a greater toll physically on a player and, therefore, you can expect the stats to differ from position to position as a result. Comparing the offensive stats of a catcher to those of a 1B is unfair to the catcher. Catchers are compared to other catchers, 1B to 1B, etc. for the HOF. What you're saying about Gwynn being compare to other great hitters is true though. He's compared to players like Wade Boggs. -
Gwynn, Ripken are HOF Class of 2007
Middle Buffalo replied to sox4lifeinPA's topic in The Diamond Club
Gwynn had 3100+ hits, but only 750 for extra bases. That's 2400 singles. For a guy who couldn't run the last ten years of his career, I don't see what all the fuss is about him. Defensively, he was the outfield version of Ripken. He caught anything he could get to, which wasn't much. Early in his career, Gwynn could run and he was a threat to steal, and he was a much more valuable defensive player. He could get on base, but he couldn't steal a base for the last ten years. He drove in 100 runs one time. I'm not arguing with his selection, but he's as flawed a player as Ripken. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/stats?playerId=1150 I agree with much of what has been said of Ripken. Ripken was the first of the modern, slugging shortstops. He'd be in with or without the streak. Without the streak, though, he wouldn't be "Cal Ripken." http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/stats?playerId=789 He had two MVPs & was Rookie of Year. That said, I was always way more scared of Eddie Murrray with the game on the line. -

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Jul 26, 2007 -> 07:52 AM) 3 pages in and no love for Intellivision yet? Heck, I still have mine from when I was a kid (bought in '79 I think) hooked up! Just this summer I found a back-up system at a garage sale, with original manual, for a whopping $0.50!!! We also have my wife's Colecovision hooked up. That one we still have the original box for! Intellivision baseball (where the guys kind of moved like frogs) was great, and they also had a computer add-on with an even better baseball game. It had player names and profiles. Great for the time. Here's a link to the intellivion basketball game. No NBA rights, so Larry Bird was "Larry Hawk." http://www.intvfunhouse.com/games/slam.php I can't believe how dated it looks *tear*.
