  1. Mark McGwire has come out and said he had no knowlege that LaRussa had ever used alcohol.
  2. QUOTE(Beltin @ Mar 21, 2007 -> 12:38 PM) There are exceptions to everything. You, sir, are a gentleman.
  3. QUOTE(Beltin @ Mar 21, 2007 -> 07:18 AM) People here promote all kinds of crap in their signatures/avatars and it is their prerogative. Much of it is muted promotion of sex, tv shows, college teams, etc. and none of it has to do with the White Sox. Until you pointed it out, I did not even notice the link in his signature. I am not familiar with WSI but I do know I enjoy threads started by StatManDu far more than I like enduring one thread after another debating the OF and 5th starter. Please leave the man alone. The Brady Bunch is not crap! Take that back.
  4. QUOTE(mreye @ Mar 20, 2007 -> 05:59 AM) Oh come on! What did he ask? I can't remember what the question was. What I remember is that it really had nothing to do with the homily, and the priest was visibly not all that happy about being interrupted. It was a religious question though, and the priest answered. Then the guy followed up with another question, and the priest gave a short answer and said he'd be happy to talk about it after church. I'm assuming the priest went to confession shortly thereafter and confessed to lying to a parrishoner in church. My dad was with me, and he was stunned.
  5. I was at mass one time and a guy raised his hand during the homily and asked the priest a question. I couldn't believe it. The guy was doing the Horseshack hand wave in the second row until the priest finally stopped and acknowleged him.
  6. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Mar 19, 2007 -> 08:44 AM) Indeed. If I had to restrict myself to one everyday American micro, it would be Sierra Pale. Bigfoot is out and about now, btw. Snatch it up while you can! I'm going to make a crazy suggestion here I know, but have you thought about rinsing off one of the old straws to keep around for just such an emergency?? I know that's always been my strategy for when I discover I'm down to my last rubber anyway. . . Fine, I'll just save all the old straws. They're easy enough to clean. Speaking of condoms, I just turn them inside out and give 'em another go. It's like new, and I get the pleasure of the ribs.
  7. El Duque. Best game. Jack McDowell 1-0 against Seattle (I think it was Randy Johnson pitching for them). Ok, I'm officially old. I searched and can't find the best pitched game I remember. Never happened? Was I looking at BlackJack through goatee colored Sox shades? Closest thing to what I remember was 2-1 Sox over RJ. http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/SE...199406250.shtml Guess that makes me a fan.
  8. Would it be too much to ask for Capri Sun to throw an extra straw in the box? It seems like every other box I open only has nine straws for the ten delicious drink pouches.
  9. QUOTE(shipps @ Mar 13, 2007 -> 02:28 AM) Am I the only one that gets nostalgic when it first gets warm and the time has changed? Where I sit, it's always warm, and the time doesn't change. FU nostalgia.

    Zodiac

    I was having a similar run of poor movie going experiences lately, but I really liked Zodiac. I can't remember if I read this book in the past, but I knew the story pretty well. I think it might have been cited as an example in a book about serial killers that I read a few years ago - "Mind Hunter" by John Douglas. It was written by an FBI serial killer expert and showed how police are able to pinpoint likely suspects based on various facts known about the murders. The movie was long, but I didn't spend the entire time looking at my watch. There weren't any unnecessary scenes that I can remember, and that is a huge complaint of mine when I see a movie. Thumbs Up.
  11. I still turn up most of their songs when I come accross them on the radio. My older brother got the first album for his birthday in 7th grade and played it constantly. RIP. Long live Sib.
  12. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Mar 8, 2007 -> 07:52 PM) Casey Kasem? Shaggy? Yeah...I rest my case on just how "ROCK" the dillweed is. "Keep your feet on the ground, and keep reaching for the stars."
  13. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Mar 8, 2007 -> 08:18 AM) See, and I thought Gina sucked. IMO it was a case of the judges really not being too familiar with a song, and being completely naive on a style of music. They showed it last year with Daughrty (sic?) also. Just because he got up there and "Rocked" didn't mean he was good at the style. But since our judges don't know s*** about Rock, they thought he was good. There are a million guys slugging it out in Rock bands around the world who can sing circles around that Chris Daughtry guy, and a million female Rock singers who stomp the crap out of Gina. BUT those people don't go for American Idol. The chick from Evansense is MUCH stronger vocally than Gina (and I can't stand Evansensce). If any of our judges had any knowledge of the style they would have torn her to shreds as they do when somebody butchers a tune by Whitney or Celine. Same with Daughtry, he was a very mediocre Rock guy, but they don't know the style at all, so they loved the way he butchered the tunes and made them all tough sounding, when they actually sounded pretty wussy, partially due to a band that is too technical to REALLY Rock. Daughtry has the #1 song in Casey's Top 20 right now. I don't like it, but it's true.
  14. QUOTE(BobDylan @ Mar 7, 2007 -> 11:50 PM) And we're closer to more answers... So young.
  15. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Mar 2, 2007 -> 10:12 AM) I realize not many here are doctors but I figure I will give this a shot anyway since it's a weird thing to search for on google. Just about everyday I wake up with facial pain and a slight headache. Really makes no sense at all. Anyone got any clue wtf that might be? Is there an ass print on one side of your face? Happened to me in college. Roommate.
  16. QUOTE(DrunkBomber @ Mar 2, 2007 -> 10:54 PM) 40 out of 48. Try dropping Rhode Island, I felt like I was playing Operation on crack. That was actually my biggest problem - speed. I was rejected on Colorado, and I knew where it went, but it took me three times to place it. It happened a couple of other times as well. I still would have struggled with the Northeast in this timed test.
  17. Fill in the US map using the names from the list. I didn't have time to work on the Northeast. I got 39/48. http://www.pibmug.com/files/map_test.swf
  18. QUOTE(Beltin @ Mar 1, 2007 -> 11:43 AM) I agree. Internationally speaking, though, I believe that the recent failure of our professionals (NBA, MLB) against other countries has as much to do with our players lack of commitment to train for the events, arrogance, and poorly constructed teams. Essentially, in baseball, we sent the 2005 Yankees to battle when we would be better served to send the '96 Yankees. Players have to be willing to sacrifice their personal glory for the good of the team.
  19. Lost is beginning to resemble so many of Stephen King's books. Great characters, great premise, and then somewhere along the way the story kind of fizzles and comes to an unfulfilling ending. I hope that doesn't happen here.
  20. QUOTE(Beltin @ Feb 28, 2007 -> 09:58 PM) What is an even bigger joke is all the players in the major leagues that got a free pass despite never facing the superstars of the Negro leagues. Imagine how sick some of those HOF players would have looked if they had to face Satchel Paige in his prime rather than when he was pitching in his 50s and still pretty darn effective. Josh Gibson would have made Babe Ruth a footnote in the record books, too. My understanding is the Negro Leagues dominated MLB in an All-Star game or two and the talent and overall level of entertainment was so great that those games consistently outdrew a lot of major league franchises. The Negro Leagues were major leagues with major league players. Don't forget to use green next time lest you look like a major league ignoramous. There's no way anyone can conclusively say what would have happened over the course of a full season of competition if the Negro league players had been allowed in MLB. Surely, there were Negro leaguers who would have excelled, but there are just as many who would have failed to live up to their billing. Just use Triple A can't miss prospects as an example of how wrong scouts can be when the players move up to the next level. All Star games are just that. All Star games. The Negro league All Stars likely would have done well in MLB, but every player in the Negro leagues was NOT Paige or Gibson. They had their fair share of roster filler, and I'm sure that some of the numbers that the All Star Negro league players accrued came at the expense of these lesser players. That said, I think Negro league players do have a place in the HOF, but I don't think it's right to say that any player would have dominated the MLB players because we just won't ever really know.
  21. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 28, 2007 -> 11:50 AM) And secondly, a different study by a UC Irvine Sociologist found that illegal immigrants currently have a much lower incarceration rate than virtually any other native born group of Americans. Illegal immigrants are particularly skilled at digging under, climbing over, and cutting through all types of fences. Hence, the lower than expect incarceration rate.
  22. If this is true, the Angels should be able to void Matthews' contract for misrepresenting himself.
  23. QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Feb 27, 2007 -> 11:48 AM) ESPN does this now and then... "nothing new to report, so we'll make some completely baseless rumors up that make no sense, but makes the Mets, Yankees or Red Sox better so their fans will continue to read" They can't even make accurate trade predictions at the trade deadline. Am I supposed to believe that they can predict trades six months away?
  24. QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ Feb 27, 2007 -> 05:43 PM) I heard that this type of burial chamber and boxes is very middle to upper class in quality. According to the bible, Jesus' family was a lower class family. His dad was a carpenter, so not really middle class. His family would not have been able to afford this kind of burial. Joseph was in the Union, and he did some work on the side, so money wasn't an issue for the Son of God.
