  1. A Sox fan will probably never be brought out of retirement to manage the team?
  2. Is this the new math they talk about? My abacus came up with 680 yards if he averages 40 ypg for 17 weeks.
  3. Lack of urgency, getting out hustled, and being fundamentally challenged are all things the manager controls. Physical errors and losing an individual matchup falls on the players. Being physically prepared to play is a group effort.
  4. I feel like last year’s team was so much more loose and having much more fun. Almost like they saw TLR meandering around the ST fields and said, I don’t care who’s managing us or what he’s saying, we’re “changing the game.” Chains, celebrations, smiles, etc. This year, from day one, it’s felt like a collective “oh boy, Gramps is still here?!” Total let down. They play with the energy and enthusiasm of their manager.
  5. It may be that he’s almost 80 years old and is probably at the ballpark for 12 hours every day. I wish he had the awareness to realize he’s not physically or mentally able to do this job anymore, but he’s too stubborn. We’re stuck with him until he gets “promoted” to an advisory role. Then, he’ll be involved in hiring the next guy.
  6. I’d probably have the same question about the distance. Doesn’t really matter.
  7. How was Seby’s ball 405 feet when it hit to the left of the sign that says 398?
  8. Starter goes 5 innings. Let’s bring in 3 or 4 relievers for an inning each. Wash. Rinse. Repeat.
  9. I wonder what it will feel like if this team somehow makes the playoffs and goes on an ‘06 Cardinals-like run and wins the World Series. I know it’s not likely, but WIld Card teams and lowly slotted teams have won championships in baseball and other sports. I feel like it will be much less fulfilling than the ‘’05 Sox, ‘85 Bears, etc.
  10. I’m starting to think he may be a Cubs fan.
  11. I feel like no matter what TLR is doing, it always includes some level of “mulling around.”
  12. In the AL, only Houston and NYY have 70+ wins. The rest of the league is either mediocre or bad. So, as frustrating as this season has been, the Sox are in the playoff hunt as much as all the other 60+ win teams.
  13. Maybe we’ve been wrong, and TLR’s plan hasn’t been to replicate the ‘83 Sox but the 83 win 2006 WS Champion Cardinals. Sox only need to go 25-23. Then all we have to do is figure out where we’ll stand for the parade. HOF baseball person. Checkers/chess.
  14. He’s just completely lost at the plate (both sides). The good news is he almost has to get hot at some point. The bad news - that’s not the way the season has gone.
  15. Yep. I tried to find last year’s trade deadline thread because I remember quite a few posts from people here wanting to dump him.
  16. I hate when the logo of the sponsor is as prominent as the Sox logo.
  17. If this is the start of an online petition to do so, consider this my signature.
  18. I’m in the camp of being glad Hahn didn’t panic and trade prospects for rentals. It’s either happening or not this season based on how Yoan, Giolito, Grandal, Eloy, etc. perform from here on. If they don’t meet expectations, it doesn’t matter who was traded for unless one of our underachievers was part of the trade, but none of them have much trade value at this point.. A retool is needed, but now probably wasn’t the best opportunity unless the return was part of the future plan, not just the rest of this season.
