The only absolutes here are that Robert is incredibly talented, we have to trade him and there's no way to time it correctly because he can't stay healthy. His health dictates that we have to take the best package possible and hope for the best. It's just not a situation where you can make any definitive judgements about the quality of the trade when it happens.

He certainly has the eye, frame and LH power to be more than that. He hasn't hit many homers, but some of the ones he has hit have been bombs. I'd like to see him open his hips more, but he's obviously okay with making adjustments. This post made me think of 2b with decent power that were obp machines, so I looked up Brian Giles' stats. In 2000, he hit 315/35/123, 1.026 OPS, 135bb/74k. He finished 19th in MVP voting. ? The steroid era was just stupid. He had a career 1183bb/835k with a .902 OPS and only made 2 AS teams in 15 years.

His k/9 has never been impressive throughout his career, including college. I wouldn't get too excited about his pure stuff. He can be a work horse who battles and doesn't walk a ton of hitters though.
