  1. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 22, 2013 -> 12:55 AM) Phegley has proven to be coachable and can pick up his game defensively. He'll play a lot of games this first half. Coachable? Based on what? Phegley sucks and has zero tools. He looks like a roid monster that swings a lead bat. He has no tools. No bat sped. Warning track power. No eye. No arm. And his feet behind the plate move like Paul Konerko's cousin.
  2. Off season optimism clouding rational thought. I like it, but y'all crazy!
  3. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Nov 20, 2013 -> 07:07 PM) Maybe should try a split finger pitch then. A lot of pitchers have sucess with it. I can't even remember the last guy the Sox had who threw one unless you count Contrersas and his forkball. Doesn't seem like they teach it in the Sox system perhaps because it's hard on the elbow and shoulder ? I don't think Cooper allows or teaches a split finger. Too much stress on the arm.
  4. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 19, 2013 -> 04:01 PM) He pales in comparison to Jim Thome. I'm not sure I'd put them in the same generation. Thome played at a time when the ball was wound up like a golf ball. Their careers overlap, but different generations.
  5. QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 19, 2013 -> 03:34 PM) Dunn at a 162 game average: 38 HR 96 RBI .238/.366/.495 Konerko at a 162 game average: 31 HR 99 RBI .281/.356/.491 Differences: Dunn bursted on the scene as a 21 year old. Konerko sucked in his first ~400 ABs. Konerko signed a 3yr/39mil contract for his 35-37 seasons. Dunn will be a FA next year looking for a contract for his 35 year old season. Do you think he'll get a a 3 year contract? Konerko has much better longevity and it's not debatable. Dunn is arguably better in his best years. How can you say Konerko has more longevity? Dunn is 4 years younger. We don't know yet. Konerko stopped producing at 35. The book on Dunn has yet to be written. Hell, in 20 years, Dunn might be viewed as the best clean power hitter of his generation.
  6. QUOTE (Jake @ Nov 19, 2013 -> 03:23 PM) Dunn's always been a better hitter, but Dunn has pretty much always badly harmed his value on defense in a way unlike no other player ever, especially when he was playing OF It's not like Konerko has really ever been a good defender. We've been fed that narrative for years, but that doesn't make it true. If Dunn played his career in the AL, it would have been different.
  7. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 19, 2013 -> 03:19 PM) He has been a better player. Dunn has a higher OPS, more HR's and BB's. He'll probably end up with more RBI's and a higher OBP.
  8. Has Konerko ever been more talented than Dunn? Seriously.
  9. Not that Dunn is particularly good or anything, but getting rid of him to keep Konerko is one of the most illogical moves I've seen. It makes no sense on any level.
  10. He better be able to post bond. He's going to have a hard time making it out of jail alive.
  11. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Nov 17, 2013 -> 05:36 PM) Not really impressed with my ps4 so far. Killzone graphics are nice but still nothing too great. PSN is a disaster so far. Shocking.
  12. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 13, 2013 -> 04:23 PM) I dont feel that way. Parker is a physical presence and showed some defensive improvements. I think he is Carmelo at least in the NBA. Did you miss Wiggins shutting Parker down in the second half and taking over the game in the last 2 minutes? Or score more points per minute from the block and perimeter? Did you miss Perry Ellis putting up 20+ on Parker while shooting over 50%? Parker is a great player and had a great first half with Wiggins on the bench, but Wiggins is on a different level.
  13. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 13, 2013 -> 10:17 AM) Parker is already there though. Wiggins grabbed alot of points later in the game but I didnt notice him like you notice Parker. He's a superstar IMO. Wiggins doesn't need to dominate the ball to take over a game. He can impact the game in more ways than Parker. He's a special player.
  14. Those rankings are only relevant to today's Signing Day. Once the Spring signing period ends, the rankings will be revised.
  15. I'm glad we live in a time where males in their 20's are invincible.
  16. I'm trying to decide whether I'd rather be waterboarded or listen to Hawk announce a PK farewell tour.
  17. As much as I like SOA, I wouldn't watch a prequel show. I'm pretty much over Clay's sociopathy and whining Teller's.
  18. Does Danks hold the record for trips back and forth to Charlotte?
  19. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 12, 2013 -> 04:58 PM) I buy the "revenge for trying to kill my daddy" theory over the "must kill brown people" theory. But that doesn't fit the narrative that all conservatives hate colored people. The "blowing up brown people" part was bipartisan.
  20. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 12, 2013 -> 08:44 AM) IIRC other European countries had similar intelligence about Saddam, but yes, it was still a weak claim. Frankly Bush should have said we're doing this to set up a base of operations in the region to kill AQ and other similar groups while also getting rid of the world's most dangerous tyrant and he would have had more support. Bush took office during a mini recession. We were not in a "thriving economy" in 2001 and 9/11 certainly didn't help. But yes, he spent way more than he should have. I'll agree with that. And lastly, a trend that has not only been continued by Obama but expanded considerably (see, US drone policy). I can't believe you were able to type some of this with a straight face. Sadam wanted no part of a war. The world's most dangerous tyrant? Seriously? He hated AQ as much as anyone and everyone knew it. The Iraq war was a farce. The Bush administration would have made up anything to justify an invasion. It was just an excuse for the Neo Cons to finance their war machine and satisfy the nation's need for vengeance by blowing up brown people. It didn't matter that they were completely unrelated. They were Muslims, damn it!
  21. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Nov 12, 2013 -> 08:53 AM) Kurt Sutter was on Howard Stern this morning and he is hoping to make a show called Original 9 the prequel to SOA. I would begin two years after SOA ended. Sounds liek soem pretty cool stuff. Gotta dig a 70's motorcycle club show. Too bad we know how it ends.
  22. First, Obamacare is neither a failure nor a success at this point. People don't understand it and the website has been a disaster. The policy itself needs to play out. With that said, comparing a social initiative meant to provide healthcare to millions of uninsured Americans to a war built on a lie is absurd. The only victims of Obamacare are Americans who will see their insurance premiums rise, yet receive a better policy. The victims of the Iraq war are the thousands of American and Iraqi citizens that needlessly died so that Bush could distract Americans while lining the pockets of his buddies as he financed the war machine. This is a strange thread.
  23. QUOTE (scs787 @ Nov 9, 2013 -> 01:03 PM) Someone brought up a good stat in another thread, his line drive% was the highest of his career @ 23%. He had 74 line drives in 103 games which is 22 more than he had his stellar rookie year in 7 less ABs. I really don't know what to think about Gordo. The changed batting stance looked like it was really gonna work for him...But then again I did just suggested the Sox go after Murphy. It's gonna be quite the interesting offeseason. Who determines what a line drive is? He had 28 xbh's in 408 PA's. Hes not driving the ball.
  24. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 9, 2013 -> 12:33 PM) Did Beckham steal your girlfriend? I do find it aggravating that Sox fans can watch a guy suck for 4 years and still make excuses for him. I thought we were supposed to be the smart fans.
