QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 09:32 PM) 2004 was his second best season with the mariners. I spelled his name wrong too. He was fat, drunk and sweaty though. -

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 09:29 PM) Heh, 27 years old, declining, heh He was declining. Look at the numbers. There were also a lot of questions about his character and desire to play baseball too. Worked out though. -

Remember when you had to give up a top 25 prospect who hit .400, a promising young starting catcher with a laser arm and a low minors power hitter for a declining, fat, drunk and sweaty Freddie? -

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 05:44 PM) Oh man, this place is gonna be a clusterf*** when we trade Peavy for a package centered around Will Middlebrooks or David Holmberg. It'd be super if they could, for once, exceed our expectations. I would laugh so hard if it was Holmberg. After reading years of posts from people with Holmberg's nuts planted deeply in their mouths as a way to talk s*** about KW. -
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 05:24 PM) You wonder if the back was bothering him a while prior to the injury and if that was impacting his numbers? No idea..he's old so he might just be done but If I were a contender i'd try to get Paulie. If I were the Sox, I wouldn't care what I got back, the point would be to do whatever made Paulie happy (imo). I don't know if its his back, but he's been really bad for over a year.

I'd be surprised. Konerko looks like he's mailed it in and is just counting down the days until retirement.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 04:17 PM) The Peavy thing has come too far to fall apart now. Not starting him tonight and all that. It'd be embarrassing for Hahn to keep Peavy now. It'd be like he couldn't get a deal done. The tricky part is the money. I bet Jerry has told him exactly how much of the salary of Peavy/Rios he's allowed to pay. Let me sum up the last 177 pages for you... Nobody knows a damn thing about what's going to happen. Carry on. -

QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 09:22 AM) We'll still get Middlebrooks, they'll just cut off one of his thumbs And we shall call him Carlos. -

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 09:15 AM) It would be absurd for Peavy to start tonight. We'd knock down his value 5% or so by starting him. I suspect Hahn will knock down his demands and settle for a Garza like package. I didn't figure Peavy to bring a top 50 prospect. 5%? what does that even mean and how did you come up with that number? -

How in the hell did Hahn find a Rienzo body double to sit in the dugout that quickly? That guy is awesome. -

Hahn didn't even tell Rienzo because dude speaks 3 languages poorly. They're currently taking away his Twitter account. -

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 07:40 PM) So either a.) Hayes is off a bit b.) Rienzo made his way from Charlotte to Cleveland in the past hour or c.) Andre is a dirty, filthy liar. Hahn told Hayes to lie. Hayes is a Sox shill. -

QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 07:36 PM) Dan Hayes @DanHayesCSN 49s #WhiteSox have a contingency in place if they were to trade Jake Peavy: Andre Rienzo is in Cleveland. https://twitter.com/DanHayesCSN Hayes needs to check his email. -

QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 07:29 PM) Hahn is such a shifty, sly maneuverer that he made it so Brazilians now dont speak Brazilian Hahn is yelling at Rienzo right now in Portuguese, Spanish and Merican for f***ing up his covert maneuver. -

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 06:31 PM) Well, I guess he could replace Crain the bullpen if Peavy doesn't move. Crain was on the DL. -

Could the Sox have planted the Rienzo tweet to make teams think a deal is imminent as a leverage tool? That would be dirty, but fun. -

Does anybody think The Plan is to be this left-handed in 2014?

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 05:03 PM) Santiago has more out-pitches. He's been a starter less than 1/2 a season. He needs to get his control fixed. Selling him low would be asinine. If anyone needs to be sold low it's Peavy. Save payroll, get younger. And for sure we don't need more low obp hitters. I'm not sure what any of this has to do with my post. My point is simple. As of right now, Quintana is, and has been, a better pitcher. Nobody has suggested "selling low" on either. -

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 04:48 PM) Better but not that much better. Santiago's also getting better. We would be more likely to get full value for Quintana than Santiago. Both are good young pitchers...Peavy's the one we need to trade. We don't need more past their prime veterans or Ozzie-style low obp hitters. Quintana's getting better as well and has a better track record. You might be able to project Santiago to have a higher ceiling because he throws about 1 mph harder, but Quintana is the better pitcher. -

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 04:41 PM) What? Santiago is just coming into his own and is pitching at a high level. People on here want top prospects for Quintana? Santiago's better. So we want to dump him for a 3B with zero power and a mediocre OBP? It does scare me that Ventura seems to think he's a middle reliever, so we may give him away like this. Santiago misses more bats. Quintana has had much better results. As of today, Quintana > Santiago. -

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 01:54 PM) I don't think I ever said he isn't valuable. He is. But I don't think he's a top 10 pitcher, I think he's hit his peak, we'd be selling high if we trade him as we other teams will also see his value, and I would prefer not to have these same clowns in the field supporting our pitchers next year. Just my opinion. How can you say he's reached his peak in light if the progress he's made this season? He's raised his velocity considerably since being called up and his change has been downright nasty, at times, over his last few starts. -
I have no problem holding onto Rios. The best case scenario in a trade is that you get somebody as good as Rios In a few years anyway.
