4/23 - Sox @ Twins 6:40 - Fedde vs. P. Lopez
TaylorStSox replied to WestEddy's topic in 2024 Season in Review
Guys, I don't think we're very good. -
At this point, you just kind of have to fire somebody, right? Manager, hitting coach, bat boy...
-
Juan Gonzalez
-
This was always weird and creepy as f*** to me. Why do you care who he's having sex with?
-
He's also 57 years old.
-
Burger, Anderson and Garcia have combined for a -.3 WAR this year. The faster we can distance ourselves from that era, the better.
-
I think it'll be more telling if he can continue to miss bats against more advanced hitters. He's going to live and die based on his k rate imo.
-
I have. Beckham was a bad player that remained a fan favorite and was given way too long of a leash. I'm not saying the Sox should have kept Beckham. I'm saying the narrative you invented about Semien was wrong.
-
He was blocked at 3rd by Beckham and Matt Davidson. The issue wasn't failing to identify Semien. The issue was trading him.
-
That's not really true. Everyone knew the bat was legit, but a lot of people thought he would have to move to 2nd to make room for TA and liked Micah Johnson more. A lot of us hated that trade as soon as it happened.
-
None of those pitchers were in the same class of prospect as Thorpe and they all suffered from chronic injuries. Stiever pitched 1 full season in his entire career for Christ sake.
-
What other starters have we had like him? He's not Alec Hansen. He has a very easy, repeatable 2 pitch mix. I can't think of another similar Sox prospect.
-
The only way Thorpe doesn't end up a solid major league starter is a serious injury.
-
I'm not sure he's revamping the organization, but I'm very impressed with the creativity of the Cease trade. Thorpe's floor is a 3, Iriarte's ceiling is a solid 2, Wilson can be flipped for a top 10 and Zavala has incredible tools. Considering Cease was coming off a down year, that trade is amazing.

Will any team give Trevor Bauer a last shot?
TaylorStSox replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I feel like Bauer got fucked because he's a hipster jock that doesn't like other jocks, and he wasn't scared to call MLB out on their s%*#. -

Of course he's a moron. Baseball is full of morons. AJ, Crede, Brian Anderson and Aaron Rowand spent their entire Sox tenure drunk, sending dick pics and doing massive amounts of coke in Lakeview. That doesn't mean that Bauer shouldn't sue the league. -

Can he sue MLB? This cost him hundreds of millions. -
I'd like to see him fight Jake Burger.
-
1700 PA's. He's just not a major league hitter.
-
What's he supposed to do? Try harder? Grind more? Run through some walls?
-
I'm sure he's well aware that he's been a failure and his career is slipping away.

Is it wrong to want the Sox to embarrass themselves?
TaylorStSox replied to reiks12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I don't think the players or Getz "deserve" to be embarrassed. Getz is taking over a team that refuses to spend money and it's coming off a failed rebuild where nearly all the assets lost their value on the trade market. He has very little to work with. Even Grifol is being paid to be a punching bag while knowing this is his only shot at being an MLB manager. -
The real Jake Burger is a 28 year old, .750 OPS, below average defender. Even if he wasnt traded, he wouldn't have been on the team by the time the Sox are ready to compete. He was worth a lottery ticket starter. If it doesn't work out, it's still not a bad trade.

I can't figure out how Thorpe projects, but after watching his change up over dozens of hitters, it's the best pitch that's came through the Sox system since Sale's slider. There's multiple variations of the pitch, and they're all nasty. He can make it tail or sink based off the match up. Originally, I compared him to Radke, but I also see a lot of RH Jose Quintana. I'd also rank Cease's 4 seamer up there. It's the heaviest 98 you'll ever see.
