Thornton's lost all confidence in his fastball. He doesn't power through his motion. He expects every ball to be hit. He needs a real positive inning to get right.

QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Jun 14, 2012 -> 08:06 AM) My Vizsla puppy is getting neutered today. As he will have stitches, the vet says no running, jumping, or playing fetch for the next week. He's a freaking puppy! That's literally all he does is run, jump, play fetch and sleep. I think we're going to try keeping him on leash in the house while he's recovering. We have two cats that he loves (and loves to chase) so hopefully the leash will keep him from chasing. And then we're going to have to take him on extra long walks every day to try and wear him down. Any advice on how to keep him calm over the next week? Don't get the cone from the vet. They'll tax the hell out you. Get one of the inflatable rings from Petsmart. They're cheaper, smaller and more comfortable. Not a big fan of neutering pups as they need the testosterone to fully mature, but it's highly debatable.

I hate AJ, but I'm glad he's on the team this year.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 13, 2012 -> 08:37 AM) Even his defense has been subpar. He must've found himself a crazy piece of ass that's taking up all his concentration. How has his defense been subpar? He's generally hit like s***, but his defense is still plus to great and he's still driving in a lot of runs. Not worried about Ramirez.

We pretty much already have a younger, cheaper and better version of Soriano in LF already.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 12, 2012 -> 11:04 AM) Say no to Soriano. That is all. Rios is doing fine and I'm confident that he will end up being productive (all things considered) for the rest of his contract. Rios is probably better and cheaper. Soriano's contract makes Rios' look like a bargain.

Something has to be done to improve the rotation

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 12, 2012 -> 09:44 AM) I refuse to buy into the velocity being a huge reason...you don't need to throw the ball 92+ to pitch with his stuff. What he needs is consistency...his stuff is easily good enough to win even with a sub-90 fastball. It's one thing to never have the velocity. It's another thing to have the velocity and lose it. Most pitcher's can't adapt and reinvent themselves when they lose their velocity. I wouldn't touch Liriano with a 10 ft. pole. One thing the Sox could do is move Floyd for prospects and then flip those prospects for a guy like Volquez. You're still going to have a hole in the rotation, but Volquez probably has more upside than Floyd. I don't see it happening though. -
QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jun 11, 2012 -> 04:46 PM) You use offload data you aren't using at that time by synching it to your PC/MAC or use Dropbox much the same way. Storage space does mean something, so if you can get 32gigs, I'd recommend it...but 16 gigs is still quite a bit of space for a portable device, and for most things you can always offload the data onto a PC as I mentioned above to clear up space. Thanks for the reply. I'll have to look into Dropbox. I don't have a dog in the PC vs. Mac debate. I don't really care. Computers are a means to an end to me. I do have to say the lack of USB support is frustrating. For example, if I'm working on a song and want to play it at a friend's house, I can't just plug into his soundcard and go. That sucks. Also, it'd be nice to use the as a hardware synth or MIDI controller. I'm sure there are wireless solutions though. I guess the issue is changing the way I work and finding alternatives.

So, I'm looking to get an Ipad. I've been pc based, but the applications I'm looking for just aren't available on Android. I'm going to be using the Ipad for music production, web browsing, games and Netflix. Storage will be an issue because the Ipad doesn't support USB hard drives. Is there an alternative for storage? Does anybody have recommendations for which model I should be looking into? I have a limited budget and would love to get one used. Refurbished 16 GB Ipad 2's are pretty reasonable, but the lack of storage scares me. Any guidance is appreciated.

QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Jun 11, 2012 -> 03:24 PM) Uh, how does this guy have his abdomen "torn open"? I see a crack in the ceiling http://dejanno.files.wordpress.com/2012/04/prometheus.jpg There's a follow up to the article in which somebody asks the same question. The author has a link for pre production art with that shows the crack/rip being more prominent. Obviously, some of the explanations are farfetched, but Scott's films tend to explore creation with some subtle hints and some not so subtle.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jun 10, 2012 -> 05:32 PM) I was really looking forward to a conversation with the space jockey in stasis. Instead he just went berserk and left the whole thing infinitely more grey.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 10, 2012 -> 05:08 PM) What year is the 1979 Alien film supposed to take place? I'm assuming that over time the Aliens in Prometheus evolve to the ones we're more familiar with? 30 years later. Alien takes place on planet LV426. The moon Prometheus takes place on isn't the same.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 10, 2012 -> 04:56 PM) But as he swallowed the vile in the beginning scene there was a different type of space ship in the sky that left the planet. What was all that about?

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jun 10, 2012 -> 03:53 PM) It answered a lot, but certainly not all. I still liked it a lot, though. Took me until almost the very end to realize that the old guy was Guy Pearce. Like what?

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 10, 2012 -> 04:36 PM) And what do you guys make of that initial scene where the guy seemingly committed suicide? Do you think that was Earth and was he sacrificing himself to deposit his DNA on the planet?

I'm an Alien and Ridley Scott fanboy. I gave Prometheus a 7.5. It looked great. The Giger vibes were back. It explained all the questions about xenomorphs and space jockeys. It was entertaining and enjoyable. However, there were problems with character development. The pilot and his co pilots really needed more screen time. I didn't buy their decisions in the end, and frankly, didn't really care. I found myself questioning David's motivations vs. Theron, her father and the corporation. The score was just awful. It really took away from mood of the film. This was the biggest disappointment for me. Scott's films are driven by their score. He's usually a master at setting tone through sound. As a fan of Alien lore, it was satisfying, yet hollow.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 9, 2012 -> 01:33 PM) No. That post stands as it was originally written. OK. I was giddy that Hudson was gonna revolutionize pitching too. I'm still working on this reading thing.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 9, 2012 -> 01:28 PM) Ok, so your problem was you missed part of my first point. Check the bold. Did you edit your OP?

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 9, 2012 -> 01:22 PM) Games started with Arizona: 2010: 11. 2011: 33. 2012: 6. 11+33+6 = 50. He hit the DL once, earlier this year, and is back, although his last outing was short/bad. So yes, I'm sure, and I'm totally baffled as to why you'd ask. It's not like that's a hard stat to find. 50 starts in less than a year would be like, a modern record. Over the last year and 1/3rd, he's been slightly above average. That's not the point though. 50 starts in less than a year is some Ed Walsh kind if s***.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 9, 2012 -> 01:12 PM) He's made 50 starts for Arizona in a little under 1 year, 10 months since being traded. Pretty often. You sure about that?

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 9, 2012 -> 11:46 AM) Why even bring up Holmberg when the fail stares at KW everytime Hudson takes the mound? How often is that?

You're revisiting a trade because a guy's doing well in High A a few years later? Wasn't he in A ball when we traded him? What's he still doing in the low minors? I don't really follow the minors.
