  1. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 8, 2012 -> 10:40 PM) Normally, they'd have to be there around 1 p.m. Probably they skipped all the early drills and BP and rolled in around 330-430 p.m. today. But if you really think players just show up at game time for any sport, well, I'm not sure what to say. I understand they have to show up early. My post was deliberately hyperbolic. With that said, those guys live a coddled life. They spent a few hours on a plane that probably had beds, woke up, rode in a car for 30 minutes and stayed in a hotel nicer than any I'll ever stay in. Then, they probably ate a great brunch, walked around Chicago a little and went to the ballpark. It's a tough life, really.
  2. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 8, 2012 -> 10:20 PM) Guess it didn't really matter that the Astros arrived at 4 a.m. Being a baseball player's so tough. How can they handle it? They went to bed at 5 a.m. and have to work at 7 p.m.? Oh, the humanity!
  3. Ajs been lazy his whole career. He rarely hustled down the line. Thank God he made that heads up play in the ALCS.
  4. Anybody know who's been catching Gavin during this funk? Flowers seems to call more breaking balls.
  5. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 6, 2012 -> 04:41 PM) No decision made today. He's having trouble getting around and standing up and fell down a few times although when I showed up he was jumping around like a puppy again. We think the issue isnt the bladder its that he's kind of got dementia, where he forgets what hes doing and where he is, even snapping at my mom who he would never bite when she tried to put his leash on. He looks great physically, barely any gray hair, great coat, but I think mentally he's faltering and its clear he's in pain when he walks/stands. His joints are incredibly swollen. He's probably snapping because of the pain. Arthritis? It may be manageable. If not, you gotta do what's best for his quality of life. It's a hell of a decision. Good luck. I empathize with you.
  6. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 6, 2012 -> 08:07 PM) This time they're being honest...half the team has had it recently There other 19%. On that note, "Sunday line up" means "you play 162 games a year. Go get s***faced this Saturday. Not you Brian Anderson" 94% of the time.
  7. I'm pretty sure "flu like symptoms" translates to "hang over" 81% of the time.
  8. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 5, 2012 -> 10:08 AM) We've had to e-collar our dog for the last two weeks when we aren't home or are asleep. Just gives me the saddest look like, "Are you kidding me?". Makes me feel so bad. He occasionally starts licking/gnawing on his paw or leg, but he usually stops before he does serious damage, maybe just some fur comes off. (It's not that often, so I don't thinnk it's allergies) This time he just went to town, and took off the fur and skin, and it just became a nasty open wound. We got it bandaged up, but he immediately chewed the bandage off, so e-collar was the only option. I'd bet money it's an allergy. Try Benadryl. If he/she stops, it's an allergy.
  9. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Jun 5, 2012 -> 04:06 AM) If it was just for beers I'd most definitely go with Ventura... if I want to get hammered drunk the easy choice is Ozzie. So, given the thread title had to choose Ventura. Hold on, there's a difference? That pretty much explains my problem.
  10. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 08:29 PM) I personally do not suggest ever letting a stranger on the street touch your pet. They are always the people that get bit by a dog and then want money or for the dog to be put down. If they want to have fun with an animal, they can get their own. I have a problem with every person with a dog wanting their dog and my dog to be BFF's. If I'm walking my dog, leave me alone. My dog's don't like your dog and don't want to be besties. I really hate that s***. I don't have dogs to meet people.
  11. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 5, 2012 -> 01:32 AM) I voted for Ozzie, but no question Robin has done a fine job. He might revolutionize managing. You obvously need no experience. He's proving that. The question wasn't "Who do you think is a better manager?" I'd rather have beers with Robin. At least he knows when to shut the f*** up and won't get you into a fight. Ozzie's a loud mouth who just wants to talk about Ozzie. That seems pretty f***ing boring.
  12. I don't know anything about this kid, but if the experts said Viciedo's power potential is 30 home runs, they're f***ing idiots. The Sox knew better. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.
  13. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 06:29 PM) About 8 weeks when separated. Have had her for 2 months, but the biting thing wasn't an issue until the past few weeks. Initially the yelping like a dog got her to stop really quickly, now she just moves past it like nothing happened. You're on the right path. Like others have said, it's something you want to nip in the bud before some idiot freaks out on you.
  14. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 02:10 PM) I assume obedience classes would help with her biting us/gnawing at us? She developed this the past few weeks. Loves biting at us or our clothing. Stern no's and a toy in her mouth don't always work. She'll even lunge at our faces - which is kind of funny, but ridiculous. I know it's all being playful (I think), but she will not close her mouth sometimes. Sounds like a bite inhibition issue. How old was the dog when it was separated from it's littermates? It's easy to correct with an "ahnt " or yelp. Even if you have a huge yard, it's important to still walk your dog for the bonding IMO.
  15. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 01:20 PM) Currently at 80% on RT. I'm going in with tempered expectations and hope that they're exceeded. I'm going in with an open mind and not expecting Alien. It seems the disappointment comes from it not being Alien even though Scott said it's not Alien.
  16. QUOTE (Tannerfan @ Jun 3, 2012 -> 12:24 PM) In the Los Angeles Times today in the Angels FYI column, it's reported that Albert Pujols will play third base in their upcoming inter league games. Angels manager Mike Scioscia points out that this will allow the Angels to keep their 3 and 4 hitters in place with Kendry Morales who has been the DH playing first base hence the move of Pujols to third. In the story Pujols is quoted as saying "You have more time than you think. It's not like playing shortstop or second. The ball gets to you quick, you catch the ball, you throw it. That's it." Obviously you see where I'm going with this. Move Konerko to third, and have Dunn play first in National League parks this year. I think Paulie is vastly underrated as a fielder, and reacts very quickly to balls hit his way. Also I believe he was a third baseman in the Dodgers organization. Could he play there as well as Orlando Hudson? I'd love to find out. Konerko has no range at all, none. If I was playing the Sox and Konerko was at 3rd, I'd bunt at him over and over and over and over and over. Hell, I'd have Dunn and Viciedo bunt.
  17. QUOTE (Springfield SoxFan @ Jun 1, 2012 -> 10:20 PM) I was shocked to hear that the Sox are 20-3 against Seattle in the last 23 games, amazing. It's kind of weird. We used to hate Oakland because they owned us, and their fans probably never even noticed. Seattle fans probably hate us now, and nobody has ever even noticed. f***in, baseball, man.
  18. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jun 1, 2012 -> 10:21 AM) Spoiler/phone fail.
  19. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ May 31, 2012 -> 01:49 PM) So i just finished A Dance With Dragons. Wow. Talk about cliffhangers Some thoughts (obviously some heavy spoliers) Waiting for this next book is going to suck
  20. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ May 31, 2012 -> 08:23 AM) I feel there is no way that character is getting cut, especially since he has already been mentioned in the show. They probably just don't want to cast the role until his screen time becomes necessary Agreed. It kind of makes me wonder if Dagmer is Ramsay. He's been playing the role of Reek.
  21. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ May 29, 2012 -> 03:27 PM) Season 3 casting has been revealed with these additions: http://insidetv.ew.com/2012/05/29/game-of-...-season-3-cast/ Possible spoliers No Ramsay Snow? Since he's not in Winterfell, I guess it doesn't matter anyway. He doesn't do much for the next couple seasons.
  22. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ May 28, 2012 -> 04:35 PM) I don't understand when people complain about Alexei's lack of upside. He's a top 5 shortstop, what the hell kind of upside are we looking for? He's probably the most underrated White Sox I can ever remember.
  23. I missed the game because I work for a bunch of commies. Anyway, what was Sale featuring? Was he throwing more sliders than changes? I remember in his last start, he was throwing a 2 seamer or cutter that was sitting around 88-92, almost exclusively. Then in his last inning, he went with the 4 seamer and a sequence of slider, slider, change, change, slider when he got into trouble. There seemed to be some concern about his velocity, but he wasn't throwing the 4 seamer. It was more of a 2 seamer/cutter that moved away from righty's.
  24. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 27, 2012 -> 08:01 PM) My counterpoint though is that they already offer extra discounts for people taking carryout orders, not counting the delivery fee, so I feel like they're charging the price of bringing food to the door at least 2 times based on that. Seriously, watch their ads, they advertise "$10 carryout pizzas" all the time, or deals like that. And then I'm expected to tip beyond that? That said, i definitely tipped when I ordered on Super bowl Sunday and it arrived in 30 minutes. You're paying for a service. Of course you should be discounted if you pick the food up yourself.
  25. QUOTE (Tex @ May 27, 2012 -> 07:43 PM) If you are at a restaurant and see a "waiter fee" of $3 *and* a note that it does not go to the waiter and you should tip anyways, what would you think? The delivery fee covers the cost of providing the service i.e. gas/car. The fee is bare minimum so the restaurant/driver aren't losing money by bringing your food to your door. The delivery guy's still providing a similar service to the waiter, but with costs coming out of their pocket. Really, delivery is a pretty premium service in itself. Personally, I have no problem paying a guy $10 (fee and tip) and even more if it's a big order or the delivery was extremely fast.
