  1. Reality is that Clevinger has never been convicted of a crime and MLB has found no evidence to back any accusations. As such, he's faced no jail time or bans.
  2. Yet Bauer has never faced a conviction and won every civil suit. Clevinger has also never been charged or convicted of a crime. The facts simply don't favor you guys.
  3. Testimony is evidence? Good luck with that. There's a reason Clevinger is still eligible to pitch, and it sure as hell isn't because he's so good that he's protected. I'm sorry, but you guys are just wrong here. MLB banned Bauer, who was way better and had a way higher profile, yet they're protecting Mike fucking Clevinger? Gmab.
  4. In that case, you should focus on Omar Vizquel and Getz support of him.
  5. MLB is full of selfish and shitty humans. Part of being a professional athlete is an exhibition of narcissistic and psychopathic attributes. This is well known, established and celebrated. Aaron Rodgers is a sociopath. Joe Montana is a sociopath. That doesn't make them criminals. There's literally no evidence of Mike Clevinger being an abuser other than accusations of an ex. By that metric, most exes are abusers according to family court.
  6. Agreed that it wasn't a court of law, but these are the same evaluators that basically banned a CY Young winner for life. I don't believe they had any reason to protect Mike Clevinger - the king of mediocrity.
  7. Accusations aren't evidence. That's the logic America used to hang every black man accused of SA before 1964. We've established due process for a reason, and part of that is protecting people that we presume are pieces of s%*#.
  8. Neither of us know how those bruises were caused.
  9. And if they found he was actually guilty of being an abuser, they would have banned his ass faster than a Nolan Ryan 4 seamer. MLB has no incentive to protect Clevinger. None.
  10. I recognize your belief in this, and I'm empathetic, but Clevinger's case just isn't the one. This isn't Brett Myers or Wil Cordero. It's 2024, and MLB isn't going to let an alleged abuser play without an intense investigation. By all evidence, he just didn't do what he's accused of doing.
  11. Yes, I believe high level AA stats and accolades correlate to MLB success. What's your point?
  12. Again, MLB has every reason to permanently ban Clevinger. He's not that good and he's completely unlikeable. I believe in due process. Like it or not, Clevinger passed every test imaginable. MLB would love to ban him for optics alone, but they couldn't actually find a reason to.
  13. I'm sorry but by every single investigation imaginable, Mike Clevinger never beat a woman. MLB has every reason to ban him, but they never did, because after every investigation they conducted they could find no evidence. I'm sorry that you convicted the guy simply because you don't like him, but by all evidence, he never actually did it. Yeah, I think Thorpe will be good because of his accolades, despite struggling in his first MLB stint while he was hurt. Yeah, I'm okay with a HS pick from Indiana, who was the 27th pick in the draft, struggling through his first year in AAA while still showing excellent pitch recognition and good power.
  14. I'm not trying to change any minds. I'm just existing with you as a Sox fan with a different take, and stating my opinions. Yeah, I think it sucks that this site has become a refuge for a guy that openly rooted for Cleveland in 2005, and I wish it was still as funny and light hearted as it was in the past, but I still find it a valuable place for Sox fans. I don't dislike any of you. I just present a different, optimistic viewpoint of the team. Like I said, we disagree about just about everything, but I'd still let you buy me a beer.
  15. But seriously, at this point all we have is hope, so I'm gonna go ahead and pull for Getz and Thorpe and Montgomery and Albertus and Bonemer and Taylor, and me Taylor etc. It seems like a better path than circle jerking around shitting on kids just because they play for the Chicago White Sox. Being incessantly pessimistic isn't cool or edgy. This isn't Reddit and we aren't 17.
  16. Why would this matter? Most of the loop is built below the river.
  17. I don't think it's very strange to not spend my time shitting on people who are doing the best they can do. It's just being a decent human. I don't hate Nicky Lopez because he's bad at baseball. I hate Nicky Lopez because he's from Naperville.
  18. At least you'll find 7000 posts worth of content for next year. It ain't getting better quickly. Hopefully the Sox will be good enough for the board to have 30 regular posters instead of 8.
  19. Even Getz basically said, "man, I thought we'd lose 110, not 121. LOL. We can only get better from here."
  20. They didn't bring in any "type of player." They signed a bunch of has been's that had a reputation for being decent clubhouse guys. "Their type of players" LMFAO
  21. We're starting from below rock bottom, and no GM of any value is walking through that door. You can either accept that this is going to take forever, or cry all day and s%*# on every Sox prospect that comes through the system. I won't be the one talking s%*# about all those players.
  22. We all knew it was a complete teardown. What results? We're historically bad and he fired the majority of the organization. Did you expect immediate results? Did you actually think we'd be improved? We actively traded everyone with value and signed a bunch of has been's and never were's hoping to catch lightning in a bottle. I would agree that Getz was a bad hire, but using his first year, in which he's fired just about everybody, doesnt really prove anything. Of course we sucked, we were supposed to suck.
  23. Isn't that what Getz is doing? He's fired a ton over people over the last 6 months.
