I wonder if the Sox have just had enough of Kopech. They've given him every opportunity to right the ship and he refuses to attack hitters.
-
There's definitely something. It was just a nonsensical list with bad reasoning.
-
The Sox are a trash organization top to bottom, but you gave absolutely terrible examples of why.
-
"Wearing a minor league jersey" for a short time in advanced leagues doesn't mean you developed them.
-
Reylo and Eloy were developed in different systems. Reylo is really good, so his inclusion is a head scratcher. Madrigal spent a year in the system, came up, hit well over .300 for an extended stretch and was traded.
-
Reylo is a damn good pitcher. Nobody needs to be blamed for him for anything. He made it.
-
AAA isn't for "developing" players. It's a placeholder league where players are getting reps in and refining their game. The Sox had nothing to do with Yoan Moncada's development.
-
Blaming the Sox for Reylo, Madrigal, Eloy etc never developing is just a super trash post. Maybe I'm misunderstanding because it makes zero sense.
-
It's like blaming the Bobcats because Adam Morrison never "developed." Yoan Moncada was a finished product. His production is on him, not the half year he spent in the Sox system.
-
All of those guys were advanced prospects who were beyond the development stage. They have nothing to do with Getz. Most of them were "developed" in different systems.
-
I would too. A couple things I noticed were that his ch to LH hitters has more tail and his ch to RH hitters has more drop - obviously exactly what you want to see. Based on the highlights, he certainly looks like he throws harder than the gun reads and the velocity is consistent up or down in the zone. The more I watch, the more I'm drinking the Kool-Aid, but I also try to be optimistic about these things.

10 minutes of Thorpe highlights. From what I can tell, he has a couple of different variations to his change up. He may not throw hard, but he really makes hitters looks bad.

Considering "the kids can play" was the most memorable ad campaign of my lifetime, I think we've seen it before. What's the difference between 62 and 75 wins? Cheaper tickets, moving seats during the game and more beer? In that case, give me 62.
-
We've sucked our entire existence. What's the difference? The Sox aren't going anywhere. It's not like the team is going to "cease" to exist.
-
I don't really understand your point. We're probably 4 or 5 years away from any type of contention. We're starting a rebuild where the vast majority of our assets were failures. The cupboard was bare. This is gonna take a while.

Are you drunk?

Thankfully everyone can read because this isn't what I said, in any way. I said he's the king of hot takes. That means he's willing to make risky evaluations. Nothing in that say I don't like Keith Law.
-
BTW, in 140 minor league innings, Thorpe has a 12.22 k/9. He has to be doing something right.
-
I literally said I like Keith Law.
-
He's also shown elite patience, he's already moved to A+ and he's 19. I like Law, but he's the king of hot takes in the baseball community. Keith Law really like attention.
-
Generally, it looks like Getz is taking a more fundamentally sound/high ceiling approach eg Thorpe and Zavala. I'm not going to complain about that.
-
His slider was his worse pitch and his contact rate in the zone went up.
-
Cease doesn't throw a change up. Of course velocity is going to be more important for him. That doesn't say a lot about Drew Thorpe though.
-
Greinke's best year was 2015. His vFA was 92.3. Greinke's interesting as there is very little velocity separation among his main pitches.
