When young players are ready, it's no longer a rebuild, right? I just don't know how you "go cheap" on a rebuild when going cheap is kind of the point.
People just need to accept that he's not a fantasy player and he'll never have a pretty slashline. That doesn't mean he can't be an extremely valuable player. He has a couple of elite tools. I don't think it's worth a top 5 pick, but it is what it is.
Because most MLB managers still believe in sacrificing AB's to get runners over. I'd prefer Moncada never wastes an AB and he also has some bat control issues. Madrigal is a much better fit for that role. Moncada should be trying to get on base and drive the ball. That's why I like him leading off.
Right on. I agree with that. I think he'll be an ideal situational hitter, whose slash line might not be impressive, but will help the team win. He's going to challenge the sabr guys.
Well, one is in A ball and the other is an MLB hitter who's still refining his approach and has been transparent about it. I'll be completely shocked if Madrigal ever draws more walks than Moncada.
1. Moncada - switch hitter who gets on base and can swipe bags
2. Madrigal - tailor made for the 2 hole
3. Eloy - situational hitter with power
4. Robert - ungodly power potential
He's going to destroy baseballs regardless of how tightly they're wound. That sound off the bat is incredibly rare. I want to see him facing advanced pitching asap to find out who can exploit the holes in his approach. That's the next step in his development.
If all things pan out, you're looking at a future rotation of Gio, Kopech, Cease, Vet FA, Reylo. Ideally, you'll have Dunning back in the mix in 2 years and Pilkington might behind that. I'll take it.
