  1. He was a mean son of a b**** as a player and doesn't believe in dinosaurs, but he played the game "the right way." I wouldn't mind him around prospects. He commanded respect. Robert and Moncada have spent their careers training like idiots and caring more about their social media profiles than baseball, but at least Moncada pretended like he gave a s%*#. Robert acts like he has zero respect for the team and the fans. I'm a White Sox player apologist and I can not stand Robert and his bs. The rebuild didn't work and most of your buddies have played their way off the team, but you're a 5 year vet and a millionaire. Stop moping and show some professionalism. Be a God damn adult.
  2. I would have paid good money to see Robert pull that s%*# in Cleveland with somebody like Carl Everett on the team. I don't want Robert anywhere near whatever prospects we have on the team.
  3. He's literally not a 4 WAR player because he doesn't play enough to earn that distinction. MLB seasons aren't averaged out per 162. They actually play 162 and kind of need players that actually play.
  4. And I'm sure GM's are very transparent about these type of things. People pretend these deals are somehow secret and GM's aren't situationally aware. MLB GM is a job with a very small ecosystem. They would prefer their trades are as mutually beneficial as possible. Nobody wants to burn bridges to "win" a trade.
  5. Robert has been a 4 WAR player 1 time in 5 seasons. This season in 159 PA's he has 32 hits and 53 k's. At this point in his career, he's not a superstar, has never performed like a superstar, and won't get the return his perceived talent dictates.
  6. I think another thing people aren't considering is that Robert clearly doesn't want to be here, and it shows in his effort and decision making. Get all the stench of the failed rebuild off of this team and move on. I'm sure any trade we make will be looked upon poorly in retrospect, but the fit just isn't there.
  7. I think Sox fans probably overvalue Robert and will be disappointed in any realistic return. At some point the production has to match the tools. He's 27, in his 5th year and has never had 600 PA's in a season. Even in his best season, his k:BB was atrocious. Obviously all the tools are there. At this point in Mike Cameron's career, he was a consistent 5 WAR player that actually played in games. Robert's production isn't a better version of Mike Cameron.
  8. We have showcased him and he hasn't been very good. Might as well try again next year and see if he can create value. Being critical of this move is really just looking for nits to pick.
  9. Between Cease's pure stuff, ceiling and durability, calling him a mid tier starter is just fucking stupid. It really is.
  10. That kid is for real. When you see an 18 year old with that kind of easy oppo power, there's no reason to not have really high expectations. He looks so coordinated and smooth that it's hard to believe he's 18.
  11. Montgomery is at the very least 1 full year away. This isn't a discussion worth having.
  12. I think fans have put unreal expectations on Montgomery, not the Sox. As we've discussed on the minor league board, he's a 22nd pick who's 3 years removed from high school. Sox fans need to hit the breaks and let the kid work.
  13. I would bet on their being absolutely zero chance Montgomery comes up this year.
  14. Gonzalez is wearing out in his first full season of professional baseball. He's still carrying a .350 obp and 39:31 k to bb ratio. Not bad for a kid that was completely written off by many.
  15. The only concerning thing about Montgomery is the k's. He still way ahead of schedule for the 22nd pick. He's 3 years removed from high school. He's taking his lumps in AAA, but it's not like he's completely overmatched. I would have preferred her stayed in AA, but nothing that's happened is overly concerning.
  16. Grandal's also a piece of s%*#. If he thought smacking Anderson was the best way to address clubhouse issues, it shows just how stupid the guy is. Both Grandal and Anderson were among the worst players in baseball over the last 2 years.
  17. This is just wrong. Frank was ridiculed by fans for being selfish and soft throughout his prime. One of my first Sox memories was attending a game and asking my Dad why the fans were booing Frank.
  18. Both Frank and TA were booed in their primes.
  19. Getting caught by a punch thrown by Jose Ramirez isn't even remotely as bad as Robin getting the dog s%*# beat out of him by a 45 year old pitcher.
  20. Every time I see people talk s%*# about TA I remember this is the same fan base that embarrassed themselves by booing Frank Thomas relentlessly and remember what they have in common.
  21. Eloy could easily lose 10 lbs and be a different player. He's the most frustrating player on this squad.
  22. When I'm bummed out about the Sox, I just watch this.
