Yes, Yahoo. The thing I don't understand is how can they have a score for a game that is not even being played? Are they just making up numbers? yup According to MLB.com 7-5 was the final of the M's/PADRES game. - Pete

You got the Sox, M's Score from Yahoo, right? When will they get their heads out of their asses? We play the M's TOMMRROW! - Pete

Ummm... HUH? FIrst, I doubt vvery much that Saddam has the abilty to take over Rhode Island let alone the country. Secondly, do you really think that we'd just roll over. I fight for protection, I fight for what i beileve in and when I feel threatened... I don't feel threatened at all by Iraq. I have yet to see what they have that posses a threat to us. What missles do they have that can reach here? f***, what ships or planes do they have that could just slip by undetected? And I am hardly a pussy, I will fight to the death when it calls for it, and I have the scars to prove it. - Pete

If it isn't apparent how I feel from my previous two rantings, or any of of the upcoming ones, then your pretty thick And if there is a draft, I have friends in Canada that would love to see me. - Pete

Well...unless Danny Wright makes an unexpected recovery (we think he's healthy, but he hasn't pitched basically all spring), Loaiza will be #4, and probably either Josh Stewart (or Wright if available) would be #5. The Offical Site pretty much came out and said that the fight for #5 is down to Wright and Stewart, and that Estaban (I guess I should learn to spell his last name now) has won the #4 postion, and JM said that he's loyal to Garland, and that's why Estaban isn't getting the #3 spot. (not an exact quote, but that's the rough of it) - Pete

I’m cheating a bit on the soapbox this week. The following is the first chapter from my next novel, “The Revolution”. A story about how three people lead a group of protesters against a war and the government’s increasing power and how it leads to the destruction of the country. Additionally it has a bit of fantasy twist to it. While the current events are the basis for the story, this does not take place in the US, or on this planet for that matter. Just, something very similar to it. Look for “The Revolution” coming to your local bookstore or Amazon.com on the day after hell freezes over. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- War. The act of violent aggression that takes place between two or more factions of people. An event that has happened since the dawn of man, where two rival tribes would savagely attack and kill each other. First, the weapons were nothing more than their own bodies. But with the invention of tools brought around the use of stones and large branches for use of blunt instruments. Now, killing was easier. It’s a lot harder to crack a skull open with a bare hand than it is with a club. With the discovery of using flint to sharpen things, spears were invented to keep distance from you and your victim. The knowledge how to control and summon fire at will started a new revolution in weaponry and warfare. Not only could fire itself become a weapon, but it could be used to forge metals. Now swords, maces, flails and armor replace the primitive sticks and stones. Along with the inventions of Medieval weapons came a new classification of weapons. The projectiles. Bows and arrows were the first, however the most important invitation was soon to be discovered: gunpowder. Rifles, crossbows, they shared one thing in common. No longer did you have to be up close to your opponent to kill them. You no longer had to feel his breath, have his blood spill on you, or watch the life drain out of his eyes as you killed him. Rivals were no longer human, but mere targets off in the distance. This is when war started to loose it’s human face. Technology improved, artillery was invented. Now it was possible to kill groups of people from a distance. And as that technology improved, that human face of war, and the imagery of what you were doing to those you are attacking became less and less clear. The invention of airplanes and their military use furthered this by being able to drop bombs from thousands of feet up, killing hundreds of people with a push of a button, and not having to se a single charred corpse. Guns improved, bombs improved and wars that originally would kill hundreds now killed thousands. And with the invention of Atomic Weapons, thousands of lives could be blinked out in a second. Now, in modern times. We fight push button wars. A seaman on a ship pushes a button to launch a missile, without knowing of how many will die , military or civilian, because of that push of a button. Warfare is now a video game. In this nation we were also blessed because very few wars have been fought on our soil, and none has occurred for nearly 150 years. All the time we saw destruction, it was in a faraway and foreign place. The dead belonged to other nationalities. We could sleep soundly in our beds without fear of being bombed in the night. We fell into a lull, a comfort. That is until the attack that killed thousands of average everyday civilians like us that were just doing their jobs. That’s when the reality hit. Since we were so unfamiliar with this, and the sudden shock, we wanted to do anything to keep it from happening again. And our government took notice of the sudden lust for protection. They looked at this as their chance to go ahead and seize some control from the people, in return to provide them with the false sense of safety. And when the people demanded a scapegoat and that the perpetrators be brought to justice, they found this the opportunity to attack an old enemy from before. Soon the flames of war were fanned, and everything started to come undone. However, not everyone was so quick to give up their liberties, or head into war under suspicious circumstances. Large protests arose in the major cities and on college campuses. And at the time I was a 21 year old sophomore at Vance University. I would go to those protests, watching, analyzing, and trying to figure out just how I can make a difference in all this. Little did I know that I would lead to the deaths of thousands and cause the country to tear apart at the seams… ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Pretty good, huh? “The Soapbox” is a Weekly ranting by Andrew Denst. To Whom it May Concern: I am Andrew D., Human Being #0119198208261984103120003. I have been a member of your society for a little over 21 years now, and it is my regret to inform you that I am turning in my membership card and resigning. While I feel the idea of the Human Race is good, the organization clearly needs some major overhauls. To the point that if changes are not made, the entire group will fold. I’m a rat deserting a sinking ship of sorts. Look at how things are run today. You have families with children as young as 9 years old running around, wanting to hurt and kill people, smoking and drinking. Little girls who’s aspirations in life are to be strippers. Mothers who weep and grieve over the fact that their 12 year old is sneaking out of the house to have sex with older men. And what do these mothers do to seek help? The one thing that we have gone to solve our problems for decades now… TV I’m not talking about sappy self-help shows like Dr. Phil… oh no no no… Jenny Jones is the name of the game. Actually pay attention to your kids and show a little backbone? Nah… we’ll get a hyperactive motivational speakers that like to play dress up in camouflage and call themselves drill sergeants. Yelling in the face of 10 year old Billy will surely instantly fix the sociological problems he has and keep him from lighting cats on fire. And maybe a few push-ups will give 13 year old Suzy the confidence and support she needs so she no longer feels like she has to show 25 year old men her tits. Or.. how about this? The parents actually do their job. They make sure the kids aren’t staying out all odd hours of the night. Or maybe they provide for the things lacking in their live.. And X-Boxes don’t count. They’re pieces of s*** anyway. I’m talking attention, I’m talking about emotional support. To keep tabs on their kids and make sure they aren’t making the same mistakes that they did (since chances are that Slutty Suzie’s mom was a slut too). I got news for you mom and dad… Maury isn’t the answer. Now, you might find this a bit rash of me to just up and quit humanity because of this. Oh yeah, well shut up! You don’t know me! Whatever! Shut up! You’re the ho! YOU’RE THE HO! Whatever! Whatever! Kiss my ass! You don’t know me! Also, kids growing up too fast isn’t my only beef, so is the “grown -ups” that act like kids. No, I’m not talking about the middle-aged people that blame everything that goes bad on everyone but themselves. You know the ones. They refuse to accept responsibility for their own actions. Rather, it’s another group of people we all know well. Out government. Now, I could talk about this war bulls*** until my fingers are worn down to the to the knuckles and bleeding, but I’ll save that for later. Don’t you worry. Rather, here’s three pieces of beauty from recent events. 1 - During a recent news talk show, someone was quoted as saying “I kindda hope we have a war. I wanna see some of our new weapons in action!” (More or less) 2 - Our hard earned tax dollars are going to.. *drum roll* A brand new set where our special military type people will go and tell us how evil everyone is and that the war is going just peachy-keen! *thumbs up* 3 - The French are being mean and don’t want to play along… well.. We know how to get back at them.. No.. it’s not holding your breath until you turn blue in the face. Something just as good though. We won’t call French Fries French Fries anymore! We’ll call them Freedom fries! Take that you Frogs! Notice something here? We don’t see war for what it is anymore. It isn’t death.. It’s a pageant.. A play. We make really cool slogans and sound bites and s***! Why… we’ll have images of a jet taking off on a aircraft carrier and an American flag blowing in the breeze. Pump you up with so much patriotic goodness that you vomit red, white and blue! Hot damn, this will be great during sweeps month! And yet loosing sight of the thousands of innocents killed and affected by this. And when the first coffins come home stateside, will the reality sink in? No.. we’ll just have their military pictures with the flag waving in the background, carry the funerals live.. And well, make a show out of their deaths. And my, my, I could go on, but once again, I’d loose track and the point of this resignation letter. The fact is, I’ve had it with people in general. I’m done, I’m finished. Thank you for the room and board while I was here, but I’m going to see if the local wolf den has an opening now. Ok, first, if You played All Star Baseball 2003... more of the same, which isn't a bad thing. I jut played one game, and looked around a little, here's my applause and gripes: Positives: - There's a TON of histroical stuff, from jerseys, to teams, to old school "All-Star teams" (PreWWII, and Post, plus Negro Leagues) - Each team (well, at least the Sox) have about 6 jeresys, Home, Rod, Home Alt, Road Alt (I think) Throwback (1917) Alt Throwback, and Negro Leauge At this time, I only have the Home, Road and Throwback unlocked - Looks pretty sweet - The White Sox Roster looks like it'll be dead on more or less, with the exception that Borchard is the starting CF, which seems doubtful, otherwise, it has a rotation od Colon, Buehrle, Garland, Wright, and auch. an BUllpnen of Glover, White, Marte, Wunch, Gordon and Kouch. I think I'm leaving someone out maybe. There is Rios but NO DAUBACH, or Josh Paul. - Nice little addtion of an All-Star patch to the Sox Unis Negatvies: - Ok, they got the updated Batter's eye, but... umm.. why the old bullpens?!? And it is still Comiskey, but that shouldn't be held agaisnt them since they proably had the gmae pretty much done when the name was sold. - There's a lot of historical parks.. but.. no Old Comiskey - Saved games take up A LOT OF SPACE... around 250 blocks of memory. - The fielding can be... bad... at times... *cries* Overall: Get it, I love it, there's a LOT of stuff in there. Score: 3 out of 4 - Pete

ASB04 for cube and xbox is out, im waiting for ps2 which will be out this week. What?!?! ANd I didn't know this? *head explodes* - Pete, who has a 'cube and PS2, and thinks X-Box is a good system... FOR ME TO POOP ON!
-
Should've talked to me, I knew that system wasn't going to last. I just wish I could still talk to the advisor of my High School newspaper who was a Dreamcast Fanboy... I warned him...heh. - Pete
-
Well, although this is a good sign, I hardly think 2 doubles in the third ST game of the year means Frank THomas is back... by this logic, Colon, Buehrle and Garland will all win the AL Cy Young. - Pete
-
Very impressive numbers today from the pitching that we needed to see.. hopefully, this continues to the regular season. - Pete
-
Come on Cal, I wanna see you No-Hit the Cubs this year... - Pete
-
Eh, I'm gonna wait for All Star 2004 for 'Cube - Pete
-
Failed to mention Wunch pitched the top of the ninth, and took them out 1-2-3 with 2ks - Pete
-
That's it, I'm never talking to you again Heather. - Pete, who probably needs glasses for a good reason.

Ya had to tell em about my Hawks bra didn't ya. Woohoo! - Pete
