the Tribe's defense has cost them the first two games against the Twins. Friday night, 1B man Nick Swisher had a ball clang off his glove on a routine throw tonight, Joe Mauer ran home on a contact play only to have the 3B dude miss the catcher by about 30 feet to the right, ball goes in the dugout and runners move up another base. embarrassing. -

QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 29, 2013 -> 06:30 PM) Wade Davis threw 69 pitches...in 1 inning actually, it was 3 outs. he pitched in the second but didnt retire a batter. He threw 49 in the first. The home plate ump had a stupid strikezone for both teams. -

Twins uber prospect Byron Buxton had one hell of a game including that catch. Twins promoted Miguel Sano and Eddie Rosario to AA New Britain over the weekend and Buxton will probably go to High-A Fort Myers next week. The Twins have been pretty stinky the last couple of seasons, but there is hope for the future, but still at least a year away. -

Twins take 4 from Milwaukee. Twins now a game back from 3rd in the central...huh. cant say that I have paid attention to the Brewers this year, but how is that team not winning games? Also, it seems like they fleeced the Angles when they traded Greinke for Segura. wow, what a player! -

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 22, 2013 -> 03:56 PM) What's the current thinking on the team? The decent start was giving false hope? That they're returning to what was expected? What about Ryan's performance, trying to undo the damage of the Bill Smith years? What's the patience level? Obviously, Aaron Hicks is the player to be most concerned about, in terms of how long they keep him at the major league level. How are the youngsters like Sano and Buxton doing? Gibson? Their other top pitching prospect? While there is concern for Hicks, I think more concerning is the starting pitching. They can strike any out and the give up way too many hits. Then it would be the extended slump Josh Willingham has been in. I think they expected Hicks to go throw some growing pains, but his horrid start has really depressed his numbers. Hicks' defense has been pretty good too. The calls for firing Ron Gardenhire are really growing louder (and rumblings of clearing out the whole front office and starting over. To me, that plan in unrealistic because its just not the way the Twins operate. That goes back to the Senators days) , but with what he has to work with for starting pitching, I dont get it. I think there is some patience in the fandom because of Sano and Buxton and a few other minor leaguers, but sometimes it gets frustrating watching the current team knowing that they are already losing 4-0 before the game even starts. -

the starting pitching is awful (outside of Diamond). Thus, the bullpen has been overworked. after the game, Worley got sent to Rochester. Samuel Deduno gets a crack at the rotation. -

should have built a roof over Kaufmann Stadium!! - Anibal Sanchez threw 115 pitches today (40ish in the first inning). he threw 122 in his last start. During the Twins series, all the starters went over 110 (Scherzer 115, Verlander 114). Seems early for Leyland to let his starters throw so much, but I guess with that leaky bullpen you do what you gotta do. -

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 23, 2013 -> 08:23 PM) Who the f*** is Oswaldo Arcia and why is he batting 3rd for the Twins? Arcia is the #2 or #3 prospect in the Twins system (Miguel Sano is the clear #1). He was raking in Rochester and the Twins had to place Mastrioanni on the DL, so he is playing everyday. Batting 3rd, I dont know. He did crush a 400+ foot homer in the first game so I guess Gardy wanted to move him up in the batting order. -

it helps that they built heating coils under the field. it'll be cool for the game, but the sun it out and that makes it feel about 10 degrees warmer. -

the Twins have had 4 postponements since last Saturday (last Sun, Wed, Fri, and now today), including 2 interleague games (Mets, and Miami today). They have had more ppd games than Aaron Hicks has hits! They have only played 15 games so far this season. They are going to play a double header because Miami is in town for a 2 (!!) game series, and Wednesday doesnt work because the Marlins have played the max number of games without a scheduled day off. -

perhaps because Im an optomist, but I think the Twins can get into that 75-80 win range. Or maybe a better way to put it is that they will get more wins this year, but not compete for a title -

QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 5, 2013 -> 03:22 PM) Pedro Hernandez will start for the Twins on Sunday. That's how bad the Twins are. to be fair, Hernandez is replacing a injured pitcher but the dropoff between Cole deVries and Pedro Hernandez is not much.
