  1. Eh, RH didn't turn one of the quickest bats in college baseball into whatever he's doing now.
  2. You know my thoughts on stone. Dude should have been put out to pasture years ago, but because he's a JR loyalist, he'll have a lifetime gig if he wants.
  3. Shiffren already asking dumbass questions like Jason to Stone. No, you feel less confident with a good catcher? What are we doing here?
  4. Tigers have had some pretty good BABIP luck from what I can tell.
  5. Just got back from my workout. I see we have 3 runs on 3 hits. LETS GO!
  6. It's not very fun to come to work when the company is in the red and everybody hates things. In general, chemistry is downstream of performance. And performance is downstream of a players' true talent, not anybody else's on the team. TLR was decent for one year, so was RV, so was ____. And Grifol will go down as another shitass manager that led shitass teams. We don't get "good" managers often here. Long story short, I'll guarantee the next good Sox team has "good chemistry", whoever the manager is.
  7. LMAO. They have some dude on the broadcast who was on the 1st mariners team. You can't make this s%*# up: "this team has come a long way since that first day [when they got shut out]..." They remain without a WS appearance 46 odd years later. You've come a long way to go nowhere Mariners.
  8. Some flaming cold takes (for now) in the 1st few pages of this thread. Ironically @Balta1701 doing the world's 2nd longest running bit (apparently, @greg775 still leads) as after all his arguing was the only person to take the over on 4 innings in the discussion.
  9. There is little to no proven science on strengthening tendons and ligaments. You can strengthen the surrounding muscle tissue, and possibly some of the connective tissue adjacent to the bone and muscle, but not the structures themselves. The force put on an elbow throwing 98 mph heaters and 90 mph sliders is what is causing injuries, not "coddling". FFS we have technology now that can measure these forces and we know how destructive they can be on the human arms and shoulders. The average MLB fastball in 2002, hardly even that long ago in MLB terms, was 89 mph. It's now almost 94mph. You think that might have something to do with injuries to pitchers?
  10. God we really busted out with all of our cuban post Robert signings. Sucks to not even get a single utility guy out of it.
  11. Isn't this a sunshine blower account? Careful. That kinda talk is dangerously close to the reality of this 2024 Sox club.
  12. I'm still a sucker for sports talk radio. I usually have WKJR on at work. I get the need for a background noise that why I like putting on the Mariners radio, just reminds me of nice warm summer nights.
  13. I'm kinda strange in that while I will watch other NBA or NFL games outside my teams, I probably will watch under 20 innings all year of non Sox games. I'll listen to the Mariners radio broadcast but as far as tuning into a non sox game, just doesn't interest me.
  14. I don't think this Sox team is going to have an issue clogging the bases. Considering the two guys ahead of him went 0-8 and Vaughn had the best ABs of the day, imma go with batting him 2nd might actually have gotten us a runner to 2B yesterday. But, if you want to insist on 100 year old tropes, fine, I'm not going to argue further.
  15. He's only working with so much but I don't understand why you'd leadoff Benetendi and have Moncada second against a tough LHP. I probably would have had Vaughn second if absolutely nothing else.
  16. It wasn't his elbow, it was his core and I'm not sure how you can blame the training staff for a rookie not letting the staff know his discomfort level. Jose did a good job in that situation as a Latin leader, but players do need some accountability to their own health. @ptatc and I talked about it some. I believe he said that 80-100 innings would be the cap. I took that to mean that if they can get Crochett to say 25 starts, he'll average about 4 per, and finish around 100. Or he gets 20 starts, is around 5 per, and again is around 100 innings and he'll be shut down sometime in August. He's got a surgically repaired elbow, looks to be in excellent shape, has changed some mechanics -- it's now or never to stay healthy. So far, so good. But it's early.
  17. I did think the park looked nice. They've done a good job with the additions and branding scheme. That said, it won't look so nice with 15k in attendance.
  18. It sneaks up on you. At 35 I never noticed anything, at 40 yea, pissing every 90 minutes in the morning after coffee and certain days it's just like every 90 minutes all day. I've done a lot of research on it and there's not much accepted science on it. Some people think it's related to emotional issues in middle aged men, so as regular posters on a baseball forum we're all predisposed.
