  1. Pedro gestures for a lefty when he has a righty warming up. Slam your beer.
  2. I can point to an individual or two and build a narrative that they will have a decent season -- but the staff, overall? There's no way it's anything better than "mediocre" and probably will be "bad bordering on awful" all year long. We just don't have the horses. If you had a Chris Sale or even MB you could rely on for 180 good innings things would look a little different and everybody could slot back one, but those guys aren't walking through the door.
  3. It's just 1 of 162. I liked the way our guys competed out there today. It's just nice to be back at the ballpark and seeing all these [gestures at empty seats] fans come out.
  4. Schriffen looks like he's about to lean in and ask me to confess my sins. Stone looks like he's in the middle of some point he thinks is really important but in reality doesn't matter one bit.
  5. The hand holding that monstrosity tells me all I need to know. Yikes.
  6. I take his words at face value. I've read a little bit than in Japan a lot of rich people give their assistants access to their finances that we'd probably consider too trustworthy. At least that's what a couple people have said on twitter, not sure how accurate it is but makes sense as they do have a high trust society compared to ours. And of course it's not exactly unheard of in the US for greedy associates of athlete and entertainers to defraud them. All that said, would it surprise me one bit if Ohtani was placing bets? Not one bit.
  7. currently at o/u 74.5 on DK. 76 projected wins on FG. Projections like their offense a bit, but their pitching not so much.
  8. lol, is he bitching that the Sox didn't pay him the 3 million? Good god, choosy beggars we have here.
  9. f*** this this guy for giving air to all these former Bauer sex workers / “girlfriends” that fill my twitter feed with their petty bullshit. I get it Bauer is a violent asshole but I don’t need your opinions either. I did one search for the guy…
  10. I was at the book for March madness and they had Sox 60.5 which felt like a sucker bet so I went with Mariners under 87.5.
  11. it's all good, glad to have you back posting. Maybe we'll shock the world this year with Pillar doing his best late stage Kong for a few months. He'll also mentor Sheets to a season like a young El Caballo.
  12. I was 13 that season and a huge Frank Thomas and Sox fan obviously. My dad was so down on baseball and JR but then you know as a kid it's just something that happens and you move on the next year. Not sure my dad ever regained the same passion tho. Frank and the Sox were having an amazing season, frank especially.
  13. If Getz really found a bunch of decent back end starters and maybe more I'll excuse a lot of his other BS. Seriously the flotsam and jetsam in the rotation he brought over looks to be decent. Of course no bat has been swung in real anger yet. Here's hoping.
  14. This what a JR joint does to you. It rots our fan brains to make us accept s%*# like this. Read to the end. You're now arguing it was a *good* move (or at least good process) to offer a 3 million dollar bonus (because it didn't involve a guarantee or a roster spot) to a player that at 35, has absolutely zero upside and should the make the 26 man would take ABs away from players that might actually be on the next decent Sox team. Three weeks later when said player is released, nobody, literally nobody, not even a contender seeking that coveted "solid vet backup" for the league min signs him -- and now in a stroke of brilliance the Sox get the pleasure of putting him on the 26 and 40 man rosters without paying him the three million! That's fucking genius. ?????? it's obvious they think Pillar is a good add.
  15. It's the look of someone that is listening to a person say 2+2 is 5. Anyways, it's sunday afternoon and I've fallen into the trap of arguing on the internet about a s%*# franchise. Not an airport but imma head out for now.
  16. he had a 71 wRC+ last year. He had a .248 OBP. He'll fit in great here, you're right. Solid vet. Great role player. wut.
  17. Well he's on the 40 man now buddy! Sorta invalidates all that! It's obvious they made bringing him in a priority. Hey, ZIPS thinks if he plays 100 games he'll give us .5 fWAR! LFG! Pull it down! Getz did that! signed a 35 year old corner OF to a league min deal rather than just see what they have in the guy they traded a young pitching prospect for or Oscar Colas!
  18. It's terrible process. You wasted the opportunity cost when clearly 29 other teams wanted nothing to do with him at any price, at any roster spot. How can anybody defend this move? Sure, it "cost nothing" only if you ignore the opportunity cost of bringing someone that actually might have value and/or contribute to the next good Sox team. You're telling me you'd rather have this guy clogging up the back of the roster than someone like Canaan Smith-Njigba?
  19. Why in gods name was he ever offered 3 million guaranteed anyways he obviously has no market based on the events of this weekend. just a dumb signing and one they continue on with it seems.
  20. Bro the mopes you're yelling at have been living and dying with this franchise for decades. We know what the Sox' median season is. We know what the spreadsheets say. Like, focus on some positives sure (even I have) but just don't yell at people not blowing sunshine and rainbows before the season even starts.
  21. @Dick Allenis not a guy that has a history of puffing up the Sox. For some reason, that seams to be your reason to exist here. Like just calm down a bit it's only March 23rd. By July, there's like an 80% chance we're 10 under and your account will be deactivated. If we're not? Well, crow then. There's only so many strawmen people can knock down in the meantime.
