  1. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 17, 2014 -> 04:55 PM) If he had managed that game like it was going to be a 14 inning game, it would have surely been over in 9. You nailed it. He f***ed it up plain and simple. I disagreed with bringing in Downs, then I disagreed with the quick hook, but that stuff ok whatever. Letting Cleto start the 9th however is unacceptable with a rested Webb and Lindstrom. That he didn't use his best two relievers until runners on in the 9th tells you everything you need to know. The game was blown at that point. Robin is a disaster with his tactics, I just hope his "rah rah" s*** is something special.
  2. QUOTE (beautox @ Apr 15, 2014 -> 08:49 PM) His velocity is sitting right where it was last year i've seen 92 consistently and I think i seen 93 once or twice. Oh ok I was under the impression he could get it up to 93-94. Guess he's more of a guy that sits around 90-92, which makes sense given his 3rd/4th starter profile. His breaking stuff is nasty however if he can command those two different breaking balls he has 90-92 is plenty.
  3. Johnson is pitching damn well. Velocity really isn't there but his breaking stuff is nasty.
  4. Johnson's breaking ball looks quite a bit more lively tonight, really breaking sharply down.
  5. what a joke it was OBVIOUS he was safe, replay is a f***ing disgrace.
  6. actually might have caught a break with the cold weather for Johnson's start. He looks quite a bit sharper than last outing. He's locating much better for starters and getting that fastball up past 90 on the regular.
  7. There is no room for Konerko or Garcia on the roster but it is what it is. Semian is probably going to get screwed over and get sent down despite holding his own pretty damn well. They should just tell Kong he's now a coach and have him officially retire, pay him the same amount or anything but it's obvious he's not in the plans and it was a big courtesy by JR to bring him back.
  8. QUOTE (Charlie Haeger's Knuckles @ Apr 10, 2014 -> 04:39 PM) Is Viciedo a defensive upgrade in RF? f*** no. Anyone not excited about Garcia is a moron IMO. Guy was projected for over 10 war over the next 4 reasons, and what he showed in a week and a half in 2014 is that that might have been way low. He was breaking out big time and now he just lost a year of his development. If there is any silver ligning it's that it's his non throwing shoulder but that's it. He's not going to be able to pick up a bat or ball for 3-4 months.
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 9, 2014 -> 06:06 PM) That's fine, just have to hope for no tears, etc. Yep, it's good the x rays were negative let's hope the MRI comes back clean. If it's "just" a separated shoulder he could be back in a couple weeks depending on the severity. It was his left shoulder correct? That's another small positive.
  10. QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ Apr 9, 2014 -> 05:23 PM) Hahn should be ashamed of this pen he assembled Who cares, a pen is the most easily fixed part of the team. This is a throwaway season as long as the youngsters develop the pen can easily be fixed for 2015 and beyond.
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 9, 2014 -> 04:27 PM) What a disaster...if he's out for an extended period, this suddenly becomes a lost year for him and his development. Seperated shoulder actually might be a best case, 4-6 weeks he'll be back. I just hope he didn't tear something.
  12. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Apr 9, 2014 -> 03:47 PM) Johnson looks like he has no confidence in anything he is doing. Yea I'm not a huge believer in reading the tea leaves of body language but he just seems to not be mentally into the game.
  13. great call ump, hadn't given a low strike all day and gives it on 3-0, good job Garcia not letting it affect him.
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 9, 2014 -> 03:35 PM) He looked the same in his first start. Seems to be a little tight, which is causing his arm to drag. Needs more towel drills between starts!
  15. he missed that ball by 6 inches with the glove, hopefully he has a cup on.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 9, 2014 -> 03:26 PM) He has no chance of being successful in the majors with a fastball in the 89-90 range, as his command has always been his biggest question mark. Hovering around 90 to start, that might be adequate for a 5th starter type, but it's not what any Sox fan wants or expects out of him. On the plus side, his breaking ball looks pretty good to start.
  17. It's a bit curious that De Aza didn't get the start, especially with Johnson on the mount, who is probably going to give up some gappers to left center. Oh well, Viciedo has started well and despite that strikeout I don't mind playing him against some RHP to see if he's turned a corner verse them. We should just DFA Dunn...
  18. QUOTE (Hawkfan @ Apr 2, 2014 -> 06:07 PM) Great Win! Lets get the sweep! It sucked that Minnesota pretty much gave us the victory but I only saw the 11th inning, so maybe that doesn't tell the whole story. I also thought it was hilarious that Adam Dunn had no idea that the winning run was scoring as he was pimping his walk. Thats okay though, I'd rather he just be focused on hitting, and he did have a good at bat. Go Sox! Sox rallied in the 9th starting with Kong and Tank singles off the Twins' closer, so they did some good work.
  19. QUOTE (BaconOnAStick @ Apr 2, 2014 -> 05:42 PM) Alexei in the 2 hole, now. It should be De Aza against RHP, no questions asked. In fact, it's so obvious Ventura will never do it.
  20. good job mentally by veal to buckle down. Encouraging sign at least a little bit from him.
  21. honestly I don't know what they see in Veal. It's not like his stuff is overpowering and if he just got his control problems fixed he'd be good. His stuff isn't even that good.
  22. man, thought ramirez was going to come up with that
