Failed slogans from the ticket office's offseason brainstorming session: The 2024 White Sox: Some of the players are definite big leaguers. The 2024 White Sox: Not a threat, but we're stacked with guys from Chicago, the right parts too. The 2024 White Sox: We know our limitations.

I'll be looking to see if his delivery has changed I guess. Some talk that it's more compact now. He had problems locating fastballs to RHB to say the least last year. If he's still missing glove side 80% of the time nothing has changed. I don't care about his numbers, just show some positive command and control improvement when starting a count.

Too late for that. Getz should have brought his own guy (stooge) in. I'll tell you what, this is gonna be the grindiest group of grinders that ever ground.

That was funny when the spokesman was like "it's this really cool algorithm that takes all these things into account" and then in the next breath basically said they're just using the secondary market data (reading between the lines). Of course unsold tickets (even direct from the club) should be sold at the highest price possible on gameday and the days prior. It's just now the club gets the same price the guy in the lot and now the guys on vividseats or stubhub do, or slightly better given there's no skimming.

I know you're the king of this but it's apples to oranges. A chain restaurant is successful largely because it fills the role of dependable meal at a fixed price. I'd assume the 80/20 rule applies to fast food, 80% of your biz comes from 20% of your customers. Those are the people getting Wendy's every single day, the loyalists. Those people are coming because they know they are going to get the same item, at the same price, every day. They don't want to see a bus full of HS kids in front of them at the drive through and learn they are gonna be paying 2x for a frosty. Tickets? Tickets are not only not a physical commodity, they are purely a luxury, whereas where you eat lunch is mostly not, at least for 95% of the population.

I just can't with him man. It's like reading a more polished, just (slightly) more organized Caulfield. Like what sort of brain uses that as the lede? One that thinks differently than I do, that's for sure. How does a letter "escort" anything? Thumbs up to Fegan tho, glad he landed somewhere that will at least provide him a steady check this season.

I watched most of the game, there's just absolutely no juice on this squad. There's some decent players but there's not any sort of exciting talent if Colson isn't playing. The guys that are decent are known quantities , the unknown quantities are either journeyman or never will bes. Remember some of those late 90s Sox teams that gave up 8 runs most nights but scored 7? Those teams were sorta fun bad. This one I think is just gonna be bad bad.

Mariners prospects clowning on our guys now. Hard contact.
-
Eloy has modified his stance a bit, slightly less open. Still led to a weak waive at an outside changeup for the K. I dunno, he's just a guess hitter, that's obvious. His stance isn't going to magically fix that. Maybe he can run into enough fastballs to return something at the trade deadline.

Sloppy lack of attention to the Mariners runner leads to a SB and then a sac fly. New year, preseason, same old Sox.
-
Sox trotting out another pitcher with an ERA over 5 last year. I'd say he's probably only a spring training arm, except that doesn't seem right, he's probably slotted in as the setup guy.
-
Oof, questionable call and he's out. Leaves bases loaded.
-
Damn good pitch to hit fouled off. Decent AB at least.
-
Big chance for Stassi here.
-
That's Burdic's ball but DeJong takes it. That's something a good manager would be correcting right now, no matter who is in LF.
-
You can see why Shuster struggled last year. He doesn't have much room for error at his velocity. He's lost his breaking ball this inning and is getting hit hard.
-
Max looked pretty slow to get out of his crouch there, that said, would have been a close play even if he got to it, he couldn't have rolled it out there much better.
-
OF defense not exactly showing out this inning. Another ball that a good defender probably catches.
-
Shuster getting lit up now. Oof. Sometimes working too much in the zone turns into just lobbing BP.
