  1. we're the dumbest team in baseball. he was out easily.
  2. He's like the generic dude you draft in the 40th round of an OOTP phantasy draft.
  3. this play by play guy is pretty on brand for the sox' 2nd rate org.
  4. All my life (all my life) They been tryin' to keep me down (they been tryin' to keep me down) All this time (all this time) Never thought I would make it out (never thought I'd make it out) They couldn't break me, they couldn't break me (no, no) They couldn't take me, they couldn't take me (no) All my life (all my life) They been tryin' to keep me down (they been tryin' to keep me down)
  5. Shitty teams leads to shitty chemistry but this team managed to check itself out in May, that's fucking impressive.
  6. I think andrus is in danger of setting a record for lowest qualified wRC+. He's within reach. Nefy Perez had a 39 and some dead ball era dude had a 38. Andrus is currently at 52, so he's got a little work to do still.
  7. To me he's one of those guys whose act is great when they are performing in the field but becomes insufferable when they aren't. he's currently in the latter category.
  8. It's funny looking at his stats the Sox signed him coming off a career year (for a reliever of all types...) and he immediately pretty much reverted to his career stats (mediocre and certainly not worth paying for his projected age 35 and 36 seasons) with the expected dropoff from aging. LA got two decent seasons out of him and one really good one, while he was still in his prime, then dumped him at the perfect time while the Sox probably thought they were getting a steal.
  9. Nothing on this team management or player wise (other than Luis) is particularly impressive, bullpen and bullpen management including. The stupid thing is how much time and money and effort they've put into fielding a mediocre bullpen. You can win with a mediocre bullpen if you have a good offense and a good defense most nights. That's not the Sox.
  10. On a functioning team your stars play like stars and you can work in younger players, sometimes over the course of years, in order to mold them into solid big leaguers. On our team, our stars don't play like stars (other than Robert) so it puts too much pressure on young guys that need MLB development time.
  11. I though AV was turning a bit of a corner with regards to consistently elevating the ball, but his expected slash line based on his batted ball data is pretty much exactly what his real line is. He's hitting a few more balls in the air relative to his first seasons, but it's still not enough to make him a good hitter instead of just a decent one. As noted, he's -6 runs on the bases and -8 with the glove so far, hard to produce much value as a 1B unless you're better than a wRC+ of 111. He's on pace for 1 fWAR, and that feels pretty accurate, just another guy, not even an average regular.
  12. Not sure even the White Sox can screw up an incredibly athletic lefty hitter with this hit tool and command of the strike zone that at worst profiles as a league average 3B.
  13. start the game you cowards. I'm ready to get pissed and annoyed again.
