  1. I don't begrudge anybody optimism but the reality is the season is 50% over and every shred of of evidence is saying this is a bad team. Bad teams don't go on 7-3 stretches very often and they certainly don't recover from being 13 under .500 in late June.
  2. Another problem with the overall construction of the White Sox is that they have failed for years to find left handed mashers that are DH/1B types. They found...Sheets. Who hits like a 2B and fields like a DH.
  3. Well if there's one org that can help him stay healthy, it's this one...
  4. No offense to anybody posting it but it's sorta amazing that in 2023 you're still not aware of the defensive spectrum and how it affects value. I mean, maybe it's 'cause the team you follow doesn't seem to realize it either, to be fair.
  5. If he has a grievance it's that the Sox wasted a year having him take reps in the outfield instead of focusing 100% on 1B and hitting. While ultimately it's on Vaughn to develop his skills it could not have helped his development focusing on learning the OF at the MLB level as a rookie.
  6. Doubt it, but it would be pointless, Vaughn has to develop against MLB level pitching. AAA will do nothing for him.
  7. Right, I think I undersold it a bit. Maybe the most optimistic projections had the Sox at 80 if you fudged some games played projections.
  8. Coaching is a problem, but you can't make chicken salad out of chicken s%*#. A few of us noted that preseason, this team was projected by most systems for around 78-82 wins. Players that were supposed to push the Sox towards 90, including Tim Anderson, Eloy, Moncada, Vaughn, Lynn and a few others are simply no longer stars, or even average regulars. Anderson himself is the difference between 85 wins and 80 given he's gone from a reliable 3-4 WAR player to negative. Hahn has done a horrible job of recognizing and responding to true talent dropoffs and has made short sided trades (Lynn for Dunning, the whole Madrigal process) that have gutted what should have been new talent coming into their prime as others declined. He further failed in FA to even paper over 2nd base, and it's hard to give him much credit for giving Benintendi a poison pill type contract just to find an average regular in LF.
  9. We scored one run. This is a team loss from a bad team. Pointing to high leverage mistakes is easy but unproductive. Mistakes happen on all teams. Score some damn runs.
  10. In his last 30 days he's hitting 189/289/301 with a remarkable 39K in 96 PA.
  11. Go enjoy your summer guys. Life is too short (if you're over 30) to worry about a team this s%*# and with bad ownership. I'm just keeping it real. I'm ashamed I even bothered to post this after checking the box.
  12. Doesn't matter really, we're into the denouement for this story. They only real question is how long until JR passes so we can move into a new story.
  13. As I posted the other day: Burger and Robert have combined for 3.5 fWAR, the rest of the team -.5 fWAR. We have a bottom 1/2 farm system, our best piece is currently just coming back from a significant oblique injury and we also have several bad contracts on the MLB books after giving premature extensions. There's no there there! We're boned.
  14. Don't think you can overstate this. They have the money, they have the west coast access to Japan. I'd say they are like 3-1 favorites against the rest of MLB to sign him.
  15. There's a million reasons he won't sign here, including the losing, but let's just keep it simple: our owner is too cheap.
  16. You know you're getting old when you forget what sort of player a guy like Andrus was in his prime. He was pretty electric.
  17. I'll just call him Taint. As in he's now tainted with the stink of the White Sox org.
  18. Every time I see this dude's name all I can think of is seafood with a mustard seed mayo based sauce.
