  1. Yea pretty middle case scenario it was a fair trade all things considered the problem was failing to sustain the team including replacing Lynn and others. Of course when you're not spending big bucks in FA and you're trading away cost controlled youngsters for "proven" MLB vets it's hard to sustain. Just bad process.
  2. Not at all surprising. And both guys can f*** off. Texas got 5.2 fwar out of dunnning so far. We got some cool yelling I guess.
  3. Jason is based enjoyed imo in small doses. I was no huge fan of him over 162 games but FFS man he's smooth and professional even if corny and learned baseball on the job. Schriffen is like the homeless man's version of Benetti, at best. It's like they thought they could pull another rabbit out of a hat but instead they just made another horrible hire.
  4. Amazing they did that after we pulled all their best FO talent.
  5. I'd be surprised if anybody other than Chicago offers him a starting gig.
  6. Move on from both Sheets and Vaughn. Neither guy has any profile better than 2 WAR even with better hitting. I'd rather put Colas at 1st next year then see either guy on the roster.
  7. The easiest thing, especially as you get older, is to just do nothing. Once this attitude starts to filter down into an org, it's only a matter of time before the entire thing rots from the head down. In MLB you're guaranteed profits even when you allow your org to defile itself to the level of all time worst, otherwise JR would be replaced. Lucky us.
  8. It's not coaching, not at the MLB level. It's horse s%*# ball players. Vaughn is one of the worst athletes in MLB and has no position. Same with Vargas and Gavin. Until the scouting improves you'll see more DH types trying to play positions. As a cherry on top those DH types will hit for under league average. Bonus!
  9. He's old. He's old and has been surrounded by yes men his entire life. Nothing will change until he dies or sells. This is what he has created and it's way, way too late for him to learn new tricks.
  10. Rewatched some Last Dance the other night. JR talking about how he hand picked Crumbs and how genius he knew that move would be really pissed me off in light of the last twenty years of his ownership in Chicago. You got fucking lucky bro. You got stupidly lucky that you had MJ fall into your lap and then Krause had a few magic offseasons (all possible because you had MJ of course) and then after MJ left you went right back to being a perennial bottom feeder until Rose fell into your lap at 1.8%. JR is so far up his own ass and is now so old and ingrained in his thinking that until he dies or sells nothing will change. He'll keep just hiring guys that suck up to him and hoping he somehow finds another Jordan and Krause. It ain't gonna happen.
  11. Yes it's worse to set a record over 99.99% different teams managed to avoid than to simply miss the playoffs.
  12. CALL YOUR WIVES CALL YOUR SONS CALL YOUR DAUGHTERS, HISTORY!
  13. LFG, glad to share this HISTORIC moment with this board!
  14. None of it matters, but pile on media, they deserve it and then some.
  15. He's a slap hitter. His load in his lower body is non existent for a pro and his levers aren't long enough to make up any power. A total scouting whiff and one that you didn't need to be much of a scout to see as many of us here said at the time.
  16. You kidding? Nah we pay him and let him put up another zero WAR next year that's what we do here.
  17. The 130 losses were worth it to get this. You saved the season.
  18. I’m so tired of the “they show up” bullshit. Now we know where our play by play guy gets it at least.
  19. he has a chronic back issue among other things. "not supposed to" happens quite a bit, it's baseball. He's a bust, but let's not pretend like he was some big malcontent. When he played, for the most part, he was a solid starter and sometimes more. I think the biggest bust is Eloy personally. A golden bat that was pretty much penciled in as at worst a 280/340/500 type that would put up 35 HR a year in the Cell with a 2-3 WAR floor. Dude isn't even replacement level and can't hit 25 HR a year.
  20. This is probably true but the choice was to give Sheets 500 PA or Colas and they went with Sheets and let him put up another negative WAR season. So they tried to shoehorn a DH that can't hit league average who is older than Colas and can't play RF, into RF rather than just play the actual RF in a throwaway season. Puzzling.
