  1. TA has a 15.9% FB rate. That has to be one of the lowest in the league. He's hit 41 GBs and 10 FBs. Amazing.
  2. With all honesty, the fact you're employed by the Sox and make this post is disheartening as f***. It's like you took the chance to jump on a simple category mistake by the metric company and turn it into some big (long settled debate) on the validity and utility of metrics in baseball. It is utterly unsurprising that 1) the Sox stink as bad as they do and 2) they employ people that would go "metrics!" in response to a simple error in a tiny corner of the sabemetric universe as a "gotcha".
  3. You are correct he has his 5 year rights to refuse the demotion, but then he would forfeit his contract and become a free agent. Nobody is going to give him a single penny, let alone the 35 or so million he is still owed in Houston.
  4. Yea Chicago has been relatively healthy. The Ball bros are just made of glass and Zach had an injury history before even getting to Chicago. 90% I'd think would refer to basically an all out sprint not in a game. So on a treadmill or under supervision on the field. 80% I'd think would basically refer to doing hard on field workouts a tick below all out. It sounds like he's pretty healthy imo and probably just tweaked the areas of the muscle around the previous injury. Yoan's sounds much worse, like Robert's last year with more of the muscle coming off the bone.
  5. I'd expect he'll be on a rehab assignment within three weeks and then if everything goes fine back in Chicago by first week of June or so. I figured this was closer to a 6 week thing than 10 so splitting the difference at 8 with early June.
  6. Mariners are playing some good ball. Don't think it's sustainable obviously but their pitching has been pretty lights out lately. The weather here has been absolute trash, the marine layers and cold might be helping them win some low scoring games. We'll see what happens when it warms up. I've been told it does have to eventually warm up. Maybe by July 4th .
  7. Sounds like part of the problem is it's just too competitive and players have to throw hard all year round.
  8. exactly, but he has no experience, so might as well take some lumps now.
  9. he's fine, he just needs some refinement.
  10. Gavin even looking smooth in the OF, well sell that pixie dust high.
  11. that was a fucking clinic, sit down buxton.
  12. literally all he had to do was look opposite way and he'd have maybe even scooted one through. It was obvious he was going to get a junk diet by the 2nd pitch.
  13. he tried to strikeout but umps wouldn't let him.
  14. nice inning, throwing strikes ahead in the count usually works.
  15. jesus christ i'm in pain just looking at that. it's not even that warm, hands are prolly are stiff already.
  16. you can tell schiffren has some pep in his step, lol, good for him tho.
  17. and slugging...253! That's a .033 ISO! Wow! Big time powah! 18 hits. No HR. 3 doubles. Stunt on 'em Timmy!
  18. Well in about 350 PA in the high minors he's only hit for like a 218 BA. The profile is still there otherwise, but I'd be fine just letting him get 400 more PA in AAA before calling him up in September.
  19. We're actually better than the Marlins, lol.
  20. DON'T PUT ANY OF THAT JR STINK ON THE BEAR!
