  1. Beating a dead horse but he's good at all the stuff any national guy is, but bad at the stuff you'd really hope any local guy would be good at -- liking calling no doubt HRs. One of the most annoying parts of Hawk in his old days was that he completely lost the ability to judge the ball off the bat and we had the whole "stretch, get on back there, caught at the track" era.
  2. Right. I touched on it as well they couldn't even produce a back end starter or in house setup guy. I guess maybe Bummer for a season or two but that's like 1.5 WAR out of the entirety of the non-traded for farm. Hindsight is 20/20 but they should have been drafting way more HS arms starting in 2015 or so knowing they'd have a 10 year window to matriculate a few keepers into the MLB.
  3. Jason just had one of the worst HR calls you'll ever see. No doubt HR to LF and he didn't even call it a HR until about 3 beats after it landed 15 rows deep in the stands.
  4. The roster management is just absolutely fubar.
  5. I think that's priceless, especially for an offensive group. It really helped Detroit last season imo. That's what the Bears need to start building with Williams and his offensive group ASAP. The timing you get after a few offseason and seasons together you just can't replicate without the experience.
  6. Main factors to failed contention window beyond 2 years in rough order: 1) Failure to sign a superstar 5-7 WAR player. Several were on the board. 2) Failure to get two average regulars long term out of the tank drafts. Madrigal turned into the Bird Man that got turned into basically nothing. Vaughn is replacement level. Rodon is long gone. 3) Failure to fill in rotation and bullpen with literally any non Crochet additions worth half a damn from our system. Traded away Dunning too early I'd consider part of this, even tho Lance was good for a minute, Dunning was an asset that was too easily moved. 4) Managerial hires, firing of Renteria, hiring of TLR and into Grifol. 5) Collapse of TA and injury problems with Moncada, Eloy and aging / hurt /ineffective Grandal. It's amazing how much just doing 1) would have papered over everything else pretty much. Add 5-7 WAR a season to the last three years and you might just win a playoff series and who knows what happens from there.
  7. Trust me, I'm not doing too many more of these. It's like tidying up the patio before a hurricane. Let some other fool get hyped on it.
  8. f*** let eloy do it going forward. maybe his arm will just snap and we'll get morbid entertainment.
  9. Sox baseball best enjoyed with a cold one. or a cup of warm 80 proof whiskey.
  10. Burger is a legit solid player. I was a supporter of the trade at the time as we were going nowhere fast but it doesn't look like we got good value for him. TA meh. Wake me up when he gets his ISO above .50. I initially went with 100, but .50 seems reasonable for a guy currently rocking a .36 ISO. Yikes.
  11. We should be in on a number of those SPs but you just know we'll come with a "competitive offer" only.
  12. Bro we have Fletcher, Fletcher is the type of guy you build around in RF.
  13. We'll excuse you, nobody the last two years has a lot of experience having the honor, we're breaking new ground here.
  14. Yes, adductor strain. Dude is the stiffest 20 something pro athlete you'll ever see.
  15. There's a billion things to critique hahn for. Turning Q into Eloy and Dylan is def not one of them. That was an A+ trade on paper for the Sox and in reality it was a B trade for Chicago and probably a D for the Cubs.
  16. And if he did a better job his boss would not have been fired and he wouldn't have been promoted. Just White Sox things.
  17. New rule: if the honoree of the previous winner does not make the new thread before the Sox post the lineup on Twitter you forfeit the honors. Nice to see Lee get a start but FFS Beni at leadoff and Sheets at cleanup.
  18. I think the majority of people are "crying" because for all of our lives the Sox have been a horse s%*# club under JR and his "friends and family" plan is seemingly endless. The next time he hires someone firmly outside the org, outside established White Sox thinking will be the first. It's been a series of yes men and internal promotions to bums going on 50 years.
  19. You "forgot" the main hire Getz made, a guy that is ostensibly 3rd of 4th in power in the org, and you're calling others unsophisticated fans?
