Why am I singling out a dramatic shift on the part of the team I was a fan of for decades? Why am I calling out a guy who was on the record 10 years ago praising the work of the Selig rule at encouraging diversity who now ignores it himself as he removes diversity from his front office (seriously go check out his employees). Why don’t I complain more about bad behavior by the Mets on a White Sox message board? I’m very used to people trying to use distraction when they know they can’t actually support actions but totally want to, but “why are you stressing about the White Sox on a message board devoted to the White Sox” is rather impressive.

At the same time, you can’t hold a 27 year old with a history of serious injury who is putting up 2.5 WAR when your team is on pace for 100 losses and has basically no support coming from the minors in the next 2 years. You can argue with the return I get that, holding him and letting him hit 2 dingers to make this a 10-2 loss and then having his trade value gone by the time the team is actually back to .500 doesn’t interest or excite me.

You certainly should. You should also be expected to conduct an external and unbiased search for key positions. Very few teams seem to be totally unwilling to do so. It might well be 1 team.

Hiring white guys to positions they don’t deserve is sort of a White Sox thing. -

Isn’t he still the main White Sox fill in for days when Stone misses? And the likely candidate to replace Benetti in like 2 seasons? -

So is Chris Getz. -

Salvador Perez doesn’t lose 95 games in a season, not with his leadership. -
Do you think his contract is extended this year or do they wait for next offseason?

Yes, because that’s what all of our problems were with Rick Hahn, too much interference from the computer. I mean, their staff is loaded with people that have strong histories of success and it isn’t like their staff is legitimately 4x too small so no one is overworked. But, I’m sure Getz has a plan to talk to Reinsdorf in the future about about this and I’m sure it will be totally effective.

Oh I think LaRussa was much worse. I think Renteria at least worked hard and tried to coach. LaRussa was a horrific hybrid of all the worst parts of recent White Sox coaches. You had Ventura’s laziness and unwillingness to enforce any rules, you had Ozzie’s obsession with certain types of ball players and the way the game was played in the 1980s, Renteria’s ignorance, and Ozzie’s and Renteria’s arrogance all rolled into one.

While Moore had a good two year run with some real innovation, his full rebuild process getting to that took what 7 years? And that was followed by a 7 season period from 2016-2022 of being actually worse than the White Sox? After 7 years of top 10 draft picks, plus extra picks for revenue sharing and small market teams, plus being out of the race so they should be taking advantage of the trade deadline to add talent, their system was bottom 5 in baseball and their team was bottom two. This doesn’t even look good compared with Rick Hahn, if you’re that bad for that long you should build up talent by complete accident. While it’s only an allegation, this record after 2015 is so poor that it makes the idea that he was specifically trying to draft and sign outspoken Christians as a priority way easier to believe.

RR was adamantly not going to learn anything or get better, he made that abundantly clear. The idea that he has anything to learn made him cuss at reporters when they asked fluff questions along those lines. Of course, this was also one of LaRussa’s numerous flaws. Among the things he refused to learn and angrily shouted people down when told about them was “official MLB rule changes”.

If anyone happened to be willing to message me with the part of this Rosenthal article on the White Sox and their opposition to diversity I’d appreciate it.

So is Jerry Reinsdorf.

“Hired goons?”
-
Because very few teams give big reliever contracts as consistently as the white Sox.

The last place Yankees are “rich and getting richer”?

I will repeat Todd Frazier as a comparable reference.

I’m expecting Nightengale to tweet it in a few minutes just because you asked.

Every time there’s something someone posted that we think was a joke because it’s too ridiculous he actually said it huh?

No way Getz could possibly have had an unreasonable bias towards a Royals player. I’m sure his performance this year has earned his faith.
