If it’s Getz without any process, it’s because Reinsdorf wants to be Jerry Jones or Al David and just handle it himself: -

is there any CBA loophole that we could get a draft pick for Lucas if he was here for 5 out of 6 months of the season? -

He has a 1.457 WHIP, clearly some numbers have just gone temporarily haywire with him. Basically everything he is throwing is either a strikeout a hit or a walk. -
This is the correct statement of how mutual options and buyouts work.

I believe it's more like a person rather than people.

This is literally part of the strategy. When you acquire guys in their early to mid 30s, they are cheaper. Relief pitchers are also cheaper. Older players are cheaper because other teams recognize the risk of the player falling off, sometimes suddenly, with age. Keuchel, Lynn, Grandal, LaRoche, Cabrera. These guys had high likelihood of hitting walls in age. The White Sox took those gambles. And relievers - they’re up and down every year, sometimes luck/BABIP, sometimes because 80 outings a year takes a big toll on an arm. The guys who get big contracts are often coming off of good years, so they're set up to take a step back just based off of luck.

Give this excuse all you want it’s still wrong. Common sense is not “there should be hundreds of big events nationwide per week and it’s impossible to evacuate any of them in an emergency so you just let things play out and hope tons aid people don’t die.” Common sense is not “there might be a gun on site but let’s hope there isn’t because if there is we are helpless. “ How many events this week nationwide had 20,000 people present? You have to be able to evacuate this in minutes without a crowd crush, it is seriously rule number 1. Concert venues know this, stadiums know this. If you do not have procedures for this then you will lose millions in the negligence lawsuit from the families of your victims. Common sense should be “this is what we trained for people, this is why we have well trained and well paid staff. If we have to move everyone out we can do it safely in a few minutes, a crowd rush is not a concern. Is it 100% certain that it is safe to keep people in this facility or not? If you did not know where the shot came from, then the answer to that question is no. If this turns into an active shooter situation because someone has a gun that is way worse as you cannot manage the crowd rush in that scenario. If they thought it was 100% safe, why did they move family members?

Ok first - the White Sox and in fact any big event or professional spots team should have sufficient staff on hand and trained to manage a quick move if everyone to the exits in an emergency. It is standard crowd control procedures and is legally required in many states. If you don’t have this, you end up with Astroworld. Hell the facility was barely half full. Second, it is challenging to figure out how it is not safe for the players families and guests but everyone else should be allowed to stay.
