Predict the lineup: August 1 at Texas

Note that I didn't add Schultz to the bullpen or Montgomery to 2b, I figure that's a decent offer for 2 months of Ohtani. -

Benintendi Anderson Robert Ohtani Jimenez Vaughn Grandal Burger Remillard -

Yeah, but IMO none of those guys are hall of famers if they never took steroids anyway. Palmeiro’s about the worst of those, you need his steroid inflated numbers but for him to never be caught.
-
Rafael Palmeiro before the steroids put up an Andrew Vaughn like .774 OPS.

There are literally two other draft threads.

The good news is they can’t put him in the bullpen this year.

7/9: Cards @ Sox: Matz vs. Giolito, 1:10 CT

So they are playing short handed again? And didn’t use the 10 day IL with 4 offdays? -

Matz is 0-7 on the year with an ERA over 5. He hasn’t started a game since May 24, I’m guessing he was pulled from the rotation for poor performance since he was in the Bullpen for June. The Cardinals have lost the last 10 games he pitched in and are 2-16 in games where he pitched. This is actually rather impressive. -

Sitting twice leading into the AS break? This seems like the kind of thing that the beat writers should have asked about yesterday. -
Trading One Year Assets is Inevitable. Maybe even 2-yr

White Sox fans complain about Rick Hahn’s trades too much is the kind of take that probably could use an editor’s approval. -

So you take back your complaint about the White Sox fanbase? -

Except he had to throw in the point about how unfair the White Sox fan base is to their excellent GM because we bring up old trades that hurt us years later. Yes we do! Because we suck right now and things that hurt us for years caused that! -
Ricky Renteria needed schooling though! Both of the last 2 white Sox managers before Grifol were seriously out of date in their strategy and one end result of that was that the Sox were losing to teams they could stand with. Renteria’s lineup use down the stretch in 2020 was horrendous. Im also a big fan of the time in 2019 where a reporter asked Renteria how he used analytics while coaching (a very standard question for writing a positive article) and Renteria’s totally professional reply was “My answer is f*** you” - that kind of behavior should have gotten him disciplined! Different people will have different levels of balance. Hahn needs help, but its not from angry old school managers. If Hahn weren’t the worst GM in baseball, it’s safe to say those guys would have been better if they would work with someone on learning new tactics.

He would trade up to do it.

The White Sox now drop to a tie for 5th worst in baseball with the Cardinals. Loser tomorrow has sole possession of the #5 slot for the draft lottery. -

His sprint speed is down somewhat compared to last year which id believe could indicate a leg problem. His exit velocity and pull/other way profile are almost precisely at his previous seasons numbers so he is hitting the ball just as hard as before. But, he has the lowest launch angle in baseball, giving him a career high ground ball rate. I feel like this is a guy whose coaches have been trying to get him to hit the ball on the ground for 3 years, the more he listens the more he struggles. -

Because the White Sox problem with trades like that is they can’t replace guys! The Rays traded away Joe Ryan and he became a solid player. Are the Rays starved for starting pitching right now? Their starters have the 4th best WAR and 2nd best ERA in baseball. They can make trades they lose because they can replace guys. The White Sox traded Madrigal. He’s not anything special, but could the white Sox replace him? They’ve spent $20 million on Andrus and Garcia and rushed Sosa and Rodriguez up from AA to try to fill that hole since, and something tells me they’re not at the top of baseball in 2b production. The White Sox traded Dunning and y’all got to brag because Rick Hahn got a good player back. Have they replaced him? The Sox are so starved for affordable starting pitching that Toussaint is pitching today. Had they developed Crochet and Kopech into solid starters and found another one in 2019 or 2020 this wouldn’t matter, but the fact that they can’t develop anyone creates giant holes. They traded Narvaez for Colome. Colome was fine, but they had no catchers so they spent $70 million on Grandal, on top of Colome’s price. This is how it cascades - they can’t develop anyone, so when they trade guys away they have to find free agents to replace them, but they run out of money after just a handful of signings so they wind up hunting from the trash heap. -

This team is going to lose 90 plus games...

You are replying to a post made on June 24. After the game on June 23, Andrew Benintendi's batting average was precisely .275. -
That assumes Eloy has a 100% chance of successfully getting a bunt down. It takes it from 63% to 67% if he succeeds, but drops it to 42.8% if he fails and it leads to 1 out. A 4% increase in chances of winning if he succeeds, a 20% drop in chances of scoring if he fails - that means Eloy has to successfully sacrifice at an 85% clip or better for this to increase their chances of scoring.

How could Rick Hahn he have possibly dealt with bad moves and bad decisions by Grifol and Katz? They should clearly deal with the person making those bad moves and who hired Grifol and Katz, they're clearly a problem.
