  1. There's a pattern to this. The White Sox overachieved relative to PECOTA in 2020 and 2021 - when they had a very young team with a lot of guys called up recently. Cleveland overachieved in 2022 - when they had the youngest team in the league and played 16 rookies. Young teams where guys don't have long records but who contribute a lot are teams that over perform in many of these projection systems.
  2. As far as I can tell the big league pitch clock starts this year? Are you just saying it’s disappointing they set this one up first?
  3. Still hanging onto that prediction that Clevinger will never pitch for the Sox?

  5. 10th inning: No Ghost Runner 11th inning: Ghost Runner on first 12th inning: Ghost Runner on 2nd 13th inning: Ghost Runner on 3rd 14th inning: First and Third 15th inning: Second and Third 16th inning and on: Bases Loaded
  6. It wasn't a bad move by him, that's not what I meant. It's a good decision when you're that age and coming off an inconsistent start to your career to guarantee yourself money. That also, however, sets up a situation where he has only 1 real legitimate chance to get paid the real big contract. He should do so.
  7. He’s going to want to be paid. He gave away a lot on that first contract when it locked him into the White Sox until he was in his 30s, he gets basically one chance at the big career defining free agent deal.
  8. “Germans doing things with their arms that dehumanizes a minority is the kind of thing I fully endorse and I’m totally on their side” is certainly a take.
  9. Just in case you weren’t bothered by the Tomahawk chop, here are some Germans doing it. In a beer hall.
  10. Most teams are so flush with cash that they’re willing to spend tons of money to fill holes, but they’re hoarding prospects when they have them.
  11. Mike Clevinger has been working on his gum health and can now spit on an infant all the way throughout the scout seats. He believes that by the end of spring training he can clear the dugout from a standing position.
  12. There's a clearly outlined "Administrative leave" setup they could use, but it does require that they actually finish this up promptly. It does not seem like MLB has any interest in doing so, if they were dealing with this then somehow it doesn't seem like the victim would go so far as to share the photos.
  13. 5 years, $64 million for Javier. No option years. He was arb-1 this year so this buys out 2 FA years.
  14. Wouldn’t Carbondale make them the St. Louis Bears?
  15. The other possibility is that this is expressing what his body can do now. When he had the injury in 2021, there was a major worry we discussed a lot at the time that this sort of injury could cost him explosiveness long term. Having his sprint speed drop and defense get worse last year could also be a result of a permanent loss of speed and quickness due to that injury.
  16. I clicked on the Twitter feed for Rick Hahn and all the posts were AK and the Bulls.
  17. We put him on waivers to clear space for German, right? Was there anyone of less use who could have been waived instead? Just want to see who to compare him to later this year.
  18. That probably slices $1-2 million a year off their tax bill.
  19. I think AH will be giving a pretty big subsidy, but it will probably be largely in the form of a tax credit - limiting the taxes collected from the businesses developed on that land - rather than the city paying to build the park itself. That is different from what we’ve seen with Comiskey or the Soldier Field refits.
  20. I looked at some of the basic minor league level stats and they suggested that Colas was pretty bad out in CF when given the chance out there. He wasn't a guy with big range in RF either, so I would genuinely be surprised if we were awed by his range in RF or if we thought he could transition to CF, but that's not talking about his arm - which is particularly important in RF and could offset a lot even if his range in the corner wasn't good.
