  1. lol I don’t think the Bills like the Jets.
  2. Isn’t the lesson here that yes they could use Crochet but in the playoffs today no single starting pitcher is a true difference maker any more? And that instead, it’s more useful to have a deep bench of guys who can give two innings in a bullpen game or after a starter gets pulled in the 4th inning?
  3. You underestimate his ability to find others to blame.
  4. But you have to imagine that they need to sign someone to cover 3b in addition to their other needs and this removes their money. So they’re missing Moncada and Grandal, or Moncada and Keuchel, both of whom were important that year. Maybe Hahn pays Sale the $50 million remaining on his contract and as a consequence he doesn’t sign Robert. Maybe they still make it because the difference in teams was big enough, but a lot closer.
  5. With hindsight - had the White Sox not done that deal, counting the money spent on Sale that they couldn't spend elsewhere and the lack of Moncada at 3b (who was a strong contributor on their playoff teams), they have 0 playoff appearances since 2008 today and it is the longest running playoff drought in sports.
  6. Mark Buehrle pitched over 10 years ago now. There is a reason we don’t see guys like that commonly any more, hitters have gotten better too. The stuff the white Sox eschew - electronic tools, launch angles, exit velocities - hitters are way more primed to take advantage of guys like that. Guys like that wind up with ERAs over 5 and are put in the bullpen and told to throw as hard as they can for an inning since throwing 89 as a starter doesn’t work any more. Thats the reality if you try to force starters to throw 100 pitches each outing too, every starter is going to have an ERA of 5 because hitters for most teams have gotten better.
  7. Lonzo Ball expected to be active Wednesday.
  8. How? Things are moving progressively more and more in this direction with time because it's effective. How do we do this? Move the fences back everywhere and add in 2 more outfielders?
  9. Is that the case if Crochet is gone? Between Crochet and Fedde, that’s most of the quality in the White Sox pitching staff. Hard to count on rookies, even heralded ones, to make up for that.
  10. Yeah who would ever think that a parade of relievers throwing at 98 could be effective? You’ll never see a team put up 33 straight scoreless innings in the playoffs doing that. Seriously, these guys are throwing this hard all the time because it works. Hitters today are at a level they weren’t at 15 years ago either, most pitchers can’t be effective throwing 91-92 for most of a game. Pitching and hitting have evolved together here, as the training and preparation have evolved, both sides are pushing the physical envelope further and further. If you want to succeed throwing 91 all game, you better have some pinpoint control, a ton of movement, and great offspeed stuff that you throw the majority of the time. Hitters are too good today to sit down against a 91 mph fastball otherwise. And in that case, the stress on your elbow comes from throwing 40% of your pitches as sliders, same problem.
  11. Hard to win a 5 game series when the last time you scored is the second inning of game 3
  12. It was definitely bad. There is still no possibility it’s even close to Rick Hahn’s second worst trade.
  13. Without knowledge of what was in those files, yes that’s entirely possible. Many domestic abuse victims try to live normal lives as much as they can, especially if a kid was involved and all the money comes from the abuser. Clevinger getting 15 of his friends to testify that he’s a great guy is probably easy when he has an $8 million salary. The abusers best friend or other knowledgeable person coming forward to talk to investigators and subjecting themselves personally to harassment from people like Getz and his big fans is a much bigger ask, and commonly these cases don’t move forwards because additional people don’t want harassment themselves. We even saw how Oscar Colas started following and liking every photo on the victims instagram page in early 2023, so yes that’s entirely possible.
  14. The White Sox gave up 2 guys who each had 1.5 years of control. This is nothing close to Hahn’s worst for that alone - if Kopech wins the NL cy young next year, not only was he not winning the AL one here, but he’s immediately a free agent.
  15. Thats not what you claimed though. You claimed that there was “no evidence” and “MLb has found no evidence.” Prove it. Show me where they said there is no evidnece. Please prove to me he didn’t, show me the report saying he didn’t. You are claiming you are certain of innocence. This is far beyond “not suspended.” I believe this is bullshit and you are lying. Most domestic violence cases are hard to prove because they’re he said she said cases, but you are telling me there is affirmative proof it did not happen and she lied. Give it to us, or you’re lying.
  16. Please kindly share for me The MLB report that said "There is no evidence to back any accusations" as you have made a very specific defense claim here.
  17. As with most abusers, that there's always more than one. That the White Sox should have stayed away from this guy and I will never let Chris Getz live this choice down.
  18. They also had Marcel Ozuna in the Home Run Derby.
  19. That you belittled anyone who disagrees with you as "circle jerking around shitting on kids just because they play for the Chicago White Sox. Being incessantly pessimistic isn't cool or edgy. This isn't Reddit and we aren't 17." Gosh why would anyone have any problem with that.
  20. We don't know this. We do not know what their process was. We do know that there was evidence, so don't you dare say there was none again. What we do know is that MLB did not follow the process laid out in their rules, which calls for a player to be put on restricted duty temporarily during an investigation and for the investigation to be prompt. There is no version of investigating something 6+ months after the fact that is prompt. Memory doesn't work like that, especially with traumatic events.
  21. Notice the difference though: I said why I thought this was a horrible sign for the player, you described his accolades. Only one of us then said what anyone who doesn’t agree is participating in a circle jerk for 17 year olds on Reddit.
  22. By all evidence? Here’s the bruises. They were published after MLB failed to do a prompt investigation. Is this who you want the White Sox to be? This is your stuff? LOOK AT IT. Every other team knew to stay away from him. There were other police reports we learned about this year that were public as well.
  23. Here’s the thing - aside from Getz, who made it personal first by accepting the job and second by rewarding a player for beating up women which apparently he is a huge fan of - saying “Drew Thorpe will not succeed with a strikeout rate worse than late career Jamie Moyer and a walk rate 3x that high” isn’t personal at all. Saying “Colson Montgomery had a terrible season and counting on him as your opening day SS is a clear mistake” is a well supported opinion. But daring to point this out gets you described as part of a “circle jerk”. So who is being cool and edgy?
