  1. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Sep 15, 2006 -> 03:37 PM) I know enough about you to know you wouldn't answer what I wanted answered. You know me well enough that I'm gonna ask it anyways How many steals would Ross be capable of, and at what percentage, if he were starting everyday? He is 4/7 career in stolen bases. 4/4 this year and 0/3 in 2004. In other words, probably not many, IMO. He could probably get a high percentage because he'd only be running if a pitcher was ignoring him. The only 2 guys on the White Sox who you put at the leadoff spot for steals are Podsednik and Pablo. The problem of course is Podsednik has been a disaster on the basepaths this season...lots of steals, but lots of CS as well. You put Ross Gload in the leadoff spot to get the extra 30-40 points of average and 100 or so points of OPS over Podsednik, sacrificing the spead for it.
  2. How industry predictions came true, and 30 years of environmentalism in California totally destroyed that state's economy. (except...they didn't).
  3. QUOTE(samclemens @ Sep 15, 2006 -> 01:14 PM) he may be right (for once), but just how in the hell did he get the UN's ear? send adam west to b**** about not enough paved streets in azerbaijan too. "Perhaps it was the noid who should have avoided me."
  4. Might be more the El Nino this year rather than Global Climate Change causing it, FWIW.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 15, 2006 -> 01:05 PM) Oh, go get some jack in the box tacos. I will never eat at that f***ing place. It's ads are the only ones worse than Burger King.

I would just like to add that I hate you all.
  7. QUOTE(Hangar18 @ Sep 15, 2006 -> 12:47 PM) Tonites starter for the Orioles, Hayden Penn, vs the Tigers, has something like a 36.00 ERA, 3 2/3 innings, 17 hits, 15 earned runs. If he was pitching against us, he'd probaby throw 5 shutout innings. Seems that always happens when we get hit with a young guy.
  8. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Sep 15, 2006 -> 11:24 AM) Well let me ask...is Uribe, at this point, too expensive to be a super-sub? If the Sox could keep him and use him off the bench, that would be just awesome. $4.15 million is an awful lot for a super sub.
  9. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Sep 15, 2006 -> 10:57 AM) If we get Young, I hope it's to play second. He'd be a welcome addition offensively, but he'd hurt Buehrle and Garland a helluva lot, too. I'm not totally sure how much Young would actually hurt Garland/Buehrle. Not nearly as much as the occasional Mack in CF has hurt them, I'm sure of that. Young is actually recording more outs/9innings than Uribe (does Texas throw out more sinkerballers than we do? I don't think so but I could be wrong). He's turned more double plays, has a fielding percentage slightly higher than Uribe. His ZR isn't spectacular, but it's not terrible either. At his best, Uribe is probably quite a bit better than Young, especially with that cannon for an arm. But we haven't seen Uribe at his best very much this season, IMO. How good would an infield of Crede, Uribe, Young, and Konerko be? Iguchi is a FA after 2007 IIRC.
  10. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Sep 15, 2006 -> 10:51 AM) I'm glad to see I am not the only one who feels this way about the Sudan. As usual, nothing is being said about this because it is in Africa. I found this on MSNBC, not in the headlines, but under the section for newsweek articles. Of course when it should be trumpeded around the world to appeal for a stop to the violence, the headlines are all about Bush v Powell and Ney's guilt. Sad. At least George Clooney is doing his part.
  11. The IAEA slammed a Congressional report which tried to spin its way into concluding that Iran was rapidly developing nuclear weapons.
  12. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 15, 2006 -> 10:34 AM) Um, yes. Unfortunately, or military is too busy fighting us out of the sixth crusade in Iraq to do anything about it. And unfortunately, the U.N. doesn't have the balls to do anything about it either.
  13. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Sep 15, 2006 -> 10:10 AM) Yeah, I think I am going to grab a couple of Miller Lites to go with my hotdogs with ketchup Hmmm...this does seem like an issue that should be taken up by the men of the square table...
  14. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 15, 2006 -> 09:54 AM) Not the same guy. Not the same Frank either. QUOTE(SnB @ Sep 15, 2006 -> 10:09 AM) another wciu game. awesome Mother F***er. Well, at least they're in Oakland, so hopefully Extra Innings should carry the game with Oakland's announcers.
  15. QUOTE(Texsox @ Sep 15, 2006 -> 10:05 AM) If we have the same death with less Troops, I could still accept that. It would allow for more Troops to be deployed elsewhere. But if Troops go down and deaths go up, we haven't gained anything in my accounting. Well, then I would point out that the number of troops has increased over the past 3 months or so, and at the same time, the level of violence even just in Baghdad has increased over the same time, let alone the fact that we've pulled troops out of other areas and put them into Baghdad (leaving places like Anbar less secure). If we want to start talking about more troops actually securing that country, we literally need to start finding a few hundred thousand more troops. Because 150k, which is about the limit for our current army, just hasn't been enough to do the job, and the fact that they're there but also not able to do the job makes the entire strategic situation for the United States worse, and probably worsens the violence in Iraq as well.
  16. Interesting read: Why is winter gasoline less expensive?
  17. I have one word to describe the work on this bill: Obamatastic.
  18. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 15, 2006 -> 09:41 AM) No thanks. Bust him inside with 2 seamers and he will get himself out. I only say that because of what Frank did last time he faced Garland.
  19. Keep it up Jon. Garland must step up today. Loaiza has been in a groove lately, and it seems he's found a significant chunk of that velocity that disappeared after the 2003 season. He is probably going to pitch a good game. Which means that Jon Garland will need to pitch a better one. And Jon...if you have to...just pitch around Frank this time.
  20. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Sep 15, 2006 -> 09:22 AM) So did Hicks say something about Young specifically or all the team's players in general? Both. Hicks has since tried to back off the commments
  21. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Sep 15, 2006 -> 09:14 AM) i can't see it competing with PS3 or X360 I for one have been wanting a new game system for some time (the ol' Super Nintendo just doesn't cut it) but I'm not sure I want to pay the price tag on the others.
  22. QUOTE(Texsox @ Sep 15, 2006 -> 05:22 AM) We're there. If removing some Troops from harms' way makes the other more vulnerable, than I'd rather have them there. Bottom line, I want to see zero body bags coming out of the region. If that means 150,000 troops instead of 120,000, so be it. But what happens if the same number of body bags come out of the region with 150,000 troops in the area instead of 120,000? Or more?
