  1. The single best thing that could happen to the White Sox right now is a collision between Rob Mackowiak and Scott Podsednik. And it's nothing against either of them, I hate seeing people get hurt. But keeping Mack out of Center Field and Podsednik out of left field, by whatever means necessary, would give this team the best chance to win every game. Seriously, someone at Soxfest next year, ask Ozzie why the Hell he keeps doing this. And distribute tomatoes to throw up at the stage when he gives that answer.
  2. Finally, I come home for some decent news after a long, entertaining day of driving (went to Santa Monica beach!). Mark with a quality start. Not a shutout, but at some level I don't care, K.C.'s lineup is no longer a bunch of pushovers...all I want from now on are quality starts, because our offense is good enough to win with those most of the time. Detroit loses, and we close back to where we were before yesterday. And we have a shot to win the series now. Thanks for everything you did, Mark and the pen and the offense. Now let's polish it off tomorrow.
  3. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 07:49 PM) I can't remember the last time Cintron got a hit. HEY OZZIE....PLAY OUR f***ING STARTERS! He's 1/4 today.
  4. Ok, now only 2 of those runs are showing up as earned.
  5. Hey, the Yankees are beating the Twins almost this badly. yay! Another day of 1/2 game in front of the wild card. I wonder if the A's can catch us.
  6. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 06:23 PM) Did you hear that Sweeney was called up to only play CF? And yet...he doesn't play CF. So would Anderson have had the balls that Mack has screwed up? I haven't been here to ask.
  7. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 06:23 PM) They shouldn't. Cintron's error should at least make 3 of the runs unearned. I think the rule is that you can't just assume that a guy would have been out, IIRC.
  8. QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 06:20 PM) hey at least Jose's ERA isnt going to suffer with that blast Actually, according to Gameday, all 7 of Jose's runs are now earned. His ERA is up to 4.53. Every one of our starters is now above 4.50 in ERA.
  9. QUOTE(iguchi=dank @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 05:27 PM) Yes you are correct. I'll give you those points. I still think that pods sucking so much this year is still having an adverse effect on gooch because its been much different situations this year than last for him. Plus there's ALOT of pressure when pods continues not to get on first and makes an out. And of course, the fact that Pods is not on base and when he is on base is not a base stealing threat cuts down on the number of fastballs that Iguchi sees compared to last year.
  10. Thankfully, JD keeps it from being an 8 pitch inning.
  11. I've got a really bad feeling about this game...and the first 2 batters have just made it worse.
  12. Do you guys think Mackowiak hates seeing himself in CF as much as we do? Seriously he has to feel like he's let down his pitchers out there so many times this year
  13. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 05:02 PM) I can pack the array to kick out profanity every so often, and the occasional homophobic comment, and I could put variables that include every player and manager in baseball and have ozzie insult it randomly. That should pretty much make the simulation pretty accurate. Don't forget the bean balls.
  14. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 04:55 PM) He should be playing for that guy who went AWOL in LF. That's crazy talk! We can't put Podsednik on the bench, Mackowiak needs his rest! Wait a second, something's wrong with that logic...
  15. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 04:47 PM) Santana getting rocked in detriot. 3 runs = getting rocked? QUOTE(chisox72 @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 04:52 PM) Thats great, because Ozzie's decisions tonight are giving our team the best chance to succee...wait, no, just to suck and drop another game behind them..... Look at the bright side. Carlos Silva is pitching against the Yankees, so after tonight, we'll still have the 3rd best record in the AL!
  16. QUOTE(chisox72 @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 04:42 PM) Of course, Ozzie HAS to play his match-ups...after all, its Cy Hernandez on the mound.... Brian can't hit righties anyhow, look at this past few games.... Brian Anderson must be rested for winterball. At any and all cost. We must DOMINATE winterball. And occasionally a lefty will pitch in Winterball...so Brian Anderson will be ready!
  17. Podsednik, LF Iguchi, 2b Dye, RF Thome, DH Konerko, 1b Pierzynski, C Crede, 3b Satan, CF Cintron, SS Contreras, P (Slight editorial in there) DeJesus, LF Grudzielanek, 2B Teahen, 3B Sweeney, DH Brown, RF Shealy, 1b Back, C Blanco, SS Gathright, CF Hernandez, P
  18. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 04:28 PM) Guillen is never going to have good english grammar. He could speak Esperanto with a Spanish accent for all I care if he would stop putting Mackowiak in CF.
  19. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 04:33 PM) It's Mack and Cintron, trust me. Can we try Cintron in CF and Mack at 2b? I'd have more confidence in the unknown than in what we've already seen.
  20. QUOTE(shoota @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 04:28 PM) Is there any other place to find the lineups before gametime? I fruitlessly checked whitesox.com. If Riefert doesn't post them...sometimes Chicago Radio stations will read them...if not, you can just open MLB's gameday and wait. 1-0 Yankees over Twinkies on an ARod home run. 1-0 Det over LAA. Both in the 2nd.
  21. QUOTE(shoota @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 04:10 PM) Does Reifert's blog list the day's lineup before every game? Not every day, he posts them when he can.
  22. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 04:01 PM) You assume that these people are going to destroy things only because the US is there? If we leave it will get WORSE, not better, because they are going to make damn sure to split Iraq in about 4 pieces. THAT is what this is about, not the US presence there. No, I don't assume that people are only destroying things because the U.S. is there. I am assuming instead that people are going to destroy things either way, but if there were absolutely no change in the casualties between us being there and us leaving, it would be advantageous for us to leave, simply based on the savings in blood and treasure. But, there are reasons to think that the presence of the U.S. forces has been a major flashpoint with a number of groups, both Sunni and Shia, and at least reducing that footprint might prove helpful. Secondly, it'd be 3 pieces, not 4. And it's already in the process of happening anyway, the Kurds are practically off doing whatever they want already (including trying and succeeding in starting a war with Turkey), and both the Sunnis and the Shia are and succeeding in ethnically cleansing out their districts by turning the members of other religious sects into refugees. The breakup has already started, having U.S. troops there as both a target and as an inflammatory element simply isn't helping, and certainly isn't helping enough to be worth the entire efforts of the U.S. army at a time when other countries are rattling the saber.
  23. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 03:26 PM) Has anything more awful ever been said? Rob Mackowiak started 4 of the 7 games we played against Detroit and Minnesota in CF.
