  1. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 06:06 AM) Better that you go broke and die than an embryo be murdered. Interestingly enough, Tony Snow actually apologized for that comment.
  2. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 05:11 AM) The interesting thing is that natural gas year over year has experienced basically a zero price change. That's right, it hasn't gone ANYWHERE, while crude is up around 50%. That folks is what you call speculation and terror premium. And more rapid demand growth than supply growth.
  3. QUOTE(Bonderman38 @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 08:34 PM) The Sox didn't average 100 losses in the last five years and they didn't lose 119 games in 2003 though. And therefore, we didn't get to draft anyone nearly as sure as a Justin Verlander.
  4. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 07:39 AM) 6 IP, 5 H, 2 BB, 3 ER, 4 K's, 1 HR. That was Beckett's outing 6 IP, 6 H, 1 BB, 3 ER, 4 K's, 2 HR. That was Vazquez's outing after the 6th when people were throwing him under the bus and thought he should be pulled. Amazing how much that "run support" thing can help a pitcher eh? So, you're telling me that Beckett is almost as bad as Vazquez? This year I'll buy that.
  5. Well, at least if we're facing Johan, we're throwing our best at him also. I just hope that Alomar can block a forkball in the dirt. Come on Jose. Take us to the promised land.
  6. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 05:41 PM) Walk and we have runners on the corners with Punto coming up. The runner got to 3rd on what I'd deem a passed ball. You and the official scorer it appears.
  7. If the past week is any indication, Punto will also draw a walk here, thus bringing Mauer to the plate with the bases loaded.
  8. Gload can prove me wrong at some point this game, but I still think Mack should be starting in RF.
  9. 17 pitches, 14 strikes for Vazquez through 2 innings. That's reallllly good.
  10. If Bonderman has an off day, Cleveland's offense is good enough to come back
  11. QUOTE(AbeFroman @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 03:37 PM) I can't imagine that the market for soriano is so dry that he would resort to this deal Depending on how much money we sent along, it might actually be that dry. Vazquez is still a potential #2 starter in the right spot (Taht ballpark might help him too)...if Detroit, Anaheim aren't giving up Sanchez, Santana...there's not much more ML ready talent being talked about.
  12. QUOTE(EvilMonkey @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 03:08 PM) I think your statement should read ANY administration instead of THIS. Unless something drastic changes in politics in general, whichever party is in power will do whatever it can to stay in power. And the one out of power will do anything it can to get back in power. Its a vicious cycle, kinda like Kerry Wood and Mark Prior pitching, then going on the IR, it never ends. Baseball calls it the DL.
  13. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 03:17 PM) Can't say, been so busy trying to keep up with whats going on, but I swore one was elbow related and my geuss is the most recent one is as well. The injury this year is listed as a "Right Shoulder Strain". "strained terres major muscle under his right shoulder". Other injuries he's had problems with: 15 day DL in March of 04 with a Stomach Virus Later that year, he missed all kinds of time with "Elbow and Mechanics" problems.
  14. Up again, Down again, Up again, Down again...at least now we don't NEED to trade away another player to make room.
  15. Please let KW be serious when he says BMac isn't going anywhere...please...please...
  16. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 03:00 PM) I just don't see how the Nationals would make a trade of this magnitude without getting McCarthy back. If that's what it takes, forget about it! Soriano is a luxury, not a need. I think what will wind up happening is the Nats will work as hard as they can to get the best offer possible. They know they won't be keeping him, and even 2 decent prospects will be better than 2 sandwich picks for Soriano leaving in November. They will take whatever they can get. The Angels won't be giving up Ervin Santana or Brandon Wood, the Dodgers won't be giving up Billingsly, the Tigers won't give up that AAA pitcher who's name i can't remember, and the White Sox won't give up McCarthy. I'll bet that beyond that, we can put together a pretty good deal for them if they want to take it.
  17. QUOTE(daa84 @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 02:54 PM) id guess its tonight, because the sox said a move would be made before the minny game to bring the roster to 25, otherwise id think they would wait t il after tonights games to make the deal At least right now, MacDougal is listed on the 25 man roster at whitesox.com, but Alomar Jr. is not. Both BMac and Tracey are still there.
  18. DLee is going back to the DL with inflammation in the wrist he hurt earlier in the year. I just knew the Cubs were bringing him back too early. Anyway, hopefully this will only be a minor setback.
  19. QUOTE(jenksd @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 02:52 PM) If we traded a box of bricks for Soriano people here would cry "BUT WHAT WOULD HOLD OUR STADIUM UP" that's my take on this As long as that Box of Bricks wasn't wearing Jersey number 55.
  20. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 02:48 PM) Washington has a hell of a block for Fields at third too, unless Zimmerman has fallen off and I didn't know it. No, he has not, which would mean that Fields would either have to be moved for something else by the Nats or he'd have to take Soriano's spot in left.
  21. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 02:47 PM) Thousands may be about right. The other million plus are upset Williams isn't willing to move a lanky relief pitcher in a sexy move for Soriano The other noise you hear is the noise of those millions celebrating as BMac shuts down the Mets for our 4th world series in 5 years. The noise is so loud it's traveling through time.
  22. QUOTE(Sonik22 @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 02:45 PM) Big yes but u have to give up more. They already have a 3rd baseman in zimmerman, and they need pitching. I for one think Haeger would be a damn good pitcher for them.
  23. QUOTE(rcpweiner @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 02:43 PM) Well then ... Pods and Fields for Soriano? Yes or no, everybody? Keep BMac and BA out of any trade discussion and the answer is yes.
