  1. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 08:56 AM) Yes, Brady Clark is quite good defensively in both RF/CF with a terrific arm. He'd be a great fit for the Sox right now, it's just more speed and OBP at the bottom of the lineup, he's been the Brewers leadoff hitter so it's really not fair to be looking at his SLG/OPS. He's not going to give you a ton of pop but he's going to hit singles, get on base and can run. Considering all the mashers the Sox have in the middle of the order, Clark would be a nice contrast at the bottom of the lineup. Ok, now we're starting to come up with ideas that make sense. The questions then are going to be if Milwaukee decides to become sellers and what the cost would be. It'd be really nice to not have to give up Anderson, Sweeney, or Fields in such a deal, but if it comes down to it, Fields might be an ideal guy for them, if they lose El Caballo to FA at the end of the year they'll need someone who can hit to play LF.
  2. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 09:27 AM) Have we tried Pods in CF this year? I agree that it doesn't seem like a good idea, but have we given it a shot? No we haven't. We did quite a bit last year.
  3. QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 09:23 AM) Tim Couch wrote a horrible article today in the Sun Times bashing Ozzie for "doing nothing" about the current slump. WTF is he supposed to do? The team wasn't constructed by Ozzie, but KW. Ozzie really has no good options for LF/CF right now. Everyone should be pulling for BA to get hot and get his line up to around 220/310/400. Otherwise, we're going to be seeing a lot more of Mack/Pods/Ozuna in CF, which makes me want to puke. None of those guys can play a lick of D out there, and with the way the pitching has been giving up fly balls, I shutter at the thought. He's supposed to kick the pitching staff in the ass. That's what he's supposed to do. This slump is due to the pitching staff, not due to Anderson. It'd be damn nice to see improvement from the pitching staff, but since game 1 against Toronto, our pitching staff has given up: 8, 3, 5, 0, 4, 5, 12, 4, 6, 10, and 3 runs. By my numbers, that works out to a "Runs per game average" (Not ERA) of 5.74. We give up 5.74 runs per game over 11 games, we go 4-7. It's pretty damn simple.
  4. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 08:41 AM) Lieberman (D-CT) Nay I'm actually impressed for once. Something tells me that he's hearing footsteps...
  5. QUOTE(henry wiggins @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 08:55 AM) If BA is in a funk mentally over this, which seems likely, going to AAA is not going to help him gain any conviction that he can hit major-league pitching. So that might not be the right move here either. Yeah, but it also might remind him that he actually can hit a baseball every so often.
  6. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 08:54 AM) I think some GMs are eagerly anticipating a call from KW. They know he's not afraid to give up talent in order to acquire talent. The good news is that we do have several pitchers who are performing quite well. Yeah he struggled with us (in a whopping 1 start), but the way he's pitched in AAA, Haeger should probably be on someone's big league squad right now.
  7. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 08:50 AM) 2 things, that 1.833 OPS f***ing blows. and 2 why the f*** hadn't this been looked up earlier? Sorry, I was asleep
  8. QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 08:47 AM) I highly doubt that Sweeney will be a more productive offensive player than Mackowiak at this point in his career. Mack is 1 for his last 11 right now, maybe worse. His little hot streak from early May is over.
  9. QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 08:42 AM) For conversations sake: Ricardo Nanita's Splits: .291/.383/.422 24 years old (first year in AA) Ryan Sweeney: .308/.362/.403 21 years old (first year in AAA) Ruben Rivera: .222/.295/.348, 32 years old (I think he used to play some CF back in the day) Jerry Owens: .223/.285/.295, 25 yrs old (first year in AAA) The last thing I want is to see Owens in CF. The 2nd to last thing I want is to start Sweeney's arbitration clock early, but right now we might not have much of a choice. How is that Nanita person at catching the ball?
  10. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 08:42 AM) And again, which one is the rookie and which one has been in the league for 5 years? Why is BA the goat? Why does Uribe get the free pass, everyone? Uribe has actually gotten a few hits lately. Hit .237 in May. Anderson seems to be getting worse.
  11. QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 08:36 AM) Actually Sweeney and Owens get most of the starts in CF for Charlotte. Ricardo Nanita is the starting CF for Birmingham. How many starts has Sweeney gotten at CF?
  12. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 06:03 AM) You need the George Costanza logic here to get out of your job; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Costan...George_Costanza I wonder if Frank did that to the trophy on the way out also...
  13. Lo, and God said to Abraham, "You shall keep the gays from getting married". And Abraham said "I can't hear you, you'll have to speak into the microphone." And God said, "Oh, I'm sorry, is this better? Check check, checkc check, Jerry turn up the hi-gain a little."
  14. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 08:28 AM) We should have another good glove, no hit CF in our system somewhere. Bring whoever this guy is, up. Send BA down to get his stroke back. I'd rather have the good defense. Who is even playing CF in AAA and AA for us now?
  15. QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 07:10 AM) 5. Soriano has surprised people out in LF this year. But changing him over to CF might be too much to ask. Unless we can move Pods to centerfield and keep Soriano out in LF? Hmmm I like that i dea. Wow, it's really hard to imagine a worse defensive outfield. Ozuna in CF with Soriano in LF may be worse, but aside from that.
  16. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 08:26 AM) Obviously, that's not the answer either. Not long term, but it might be something we could survive for a week or two.
  17. QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 08:07 PM) That happened to me too, but my "name" was Charles Kuntz. Sounds like a Moe Syzlack prank-call-name to me. Scary thing? I went to High School/College with a Charles Kuntz (Chesterton, Indiana)
  18. Isn't there one reliever somewhere in the NL who's so sidearmed that he basically scrapes his knuckles on the mound every pitch? Try that.
  19. QUOTE(Sox1422 @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 08:11 AM) I know everyone likes Anderson and wants to give him a chance, but there has to be better options available somewhere and KW needs to take a look. Actually, I really don't think there are. None at anything we could genuinely afford (translation, none that don't cost us McCarthy). Our best option may well be sending BA down for a week or two, hoping he finds his swing, trying to make due while he's down, and then bringing him back up. Even back in April he still sucked, but he was hitting better than he is now.
  20. Need a small favor from someone who has access to photoshop/illustrator. Can I get this pic edited such that detective Scrotes is wearing a Sox logo? Maybe make that a Sox road jersey he's wearing?
  21. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 08:11 PM) They're coming apart. Bottom f***ing line. They're coming apart. They feed off the bad teams then they s*** their pants when they play the good teams. Now we have them on the ropes, it's time to finish them off. With Jose on the mound tomorrow, we have to come out and get a few runs early. If Jose is on, and we get the lead early, in another week or two the Tigers could be sniffing .500.
  22. By the way, this is exactly how to use BMac. He pitched a couple times last series, got 2 days off, pitched again today. He should never go more than 2 days without pitching.
  23. QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 07:49 PM) psychologically the Tigers now know they cannot beat us Coming into this game, I thought that was the biggest thing. We kept the Tigers slide going, and ended ours. Tomorrow, the Tigers will come in thinking their slide will still be going. And they'll have to face Jose.
  24. BMac and Jenks: 3 IP, 4 k's, 1 BB, 0 hits. Our bullpen won that game. Garcia Helped a little bit. So did Cintron, but we had so many chances to win eventually something was going to catch Detroit. BMac and Jenks won that game. And Detective Scrotes is going to show up in a lot of game threads.
