  1. QUOTE(jenksd @ Jun 3, 2006 -> 04:55 PM) Vazquez's final stat line tonight: CG, 10 ER, 25 Ks 375 pitches.
  2. QUOTE(greg775 @ Jun 3, 2006 -> 04:54 PM) If we get a double play here we win the game. If they score 4 runs this inning we lose. Right now, I have complete confidence in our ability to figure a way to lose this game even if we get out out this inning only down 1.
  3. QUOTE(greg775 @ Jun 3, 2006 -> 04:54 PM) I think they are gonna complete the deal and get 6 Their next 3 guys aren't amazing power guys, I'll give them 5 on either 2 singles or 1 extra base hit.
  4. Ok...taking bets now...how many runs does Texas get this inning from Big Inning Javy?
  5. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 3, 2006 -> 04:48 PM) I can't believe someone said that Matthews Jr. wouldn't be an upgrade over our current CF situation. Time to avoid the typical Vazquez big inning. There's a difference between saying someone wouldn't be an upgrade and saying that you don't want them. I for one am still holding out hope that Anderson will string a few hits together at some point this season and actually get that job full time, and if nothing else, the kid's going to be damn good a while down the road, IMO.
  6. QUOTE(greg775 @ Jun 3, 2006 -> 04:46 PM) how long is thome out? Day to day. I'll bet he'll wind up in the lineup tomorrow, there was talk of putting him in today, but I think Ozzie may have decided to hold his "you miss 1 day, you miss 2" rule to everyone.
  7. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 3, 2006 -> 04:45 PM) Had to listen to the first 2 innings on the radio. So far, it sounds like 3/4 of our infield has been unable to make a play. Vazquez sounds like he has good stuff. Get well soon Thome! I would hate to see this defense behind one of our groundball pitchers (MB or JG). God, why can't Brian just get a couple damn hits so that we can play him more? Argh!
  8. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 3, 2006 -> 03:50 PM) Who? The only ones who have any trade value left are Felix, C. Lee, and Bedard. The rest of the guys are old veterans with bloated contracts. They might not net you a lot more than Rowand, but the odds of them failing to improve their numbers as the year goes on are pretty remote for almost all the guys I put on my little list there.
  9. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 3, 2006 -> 03:32 PM) Garland is beyond dreadful. There are currently 97 pitchers in MLB who have pitched enough innings to qualify for leading the league in ERA. Garland is ranked 92. Doesn't sound like a guy due $22 million total for 2007 and 2008. His numbers are Jaime Navarro-esque. Some other interesting selections from that list #78: Cliff Lee #80: Randy Johnson 81: Matt Morris 88: Andy Pettitte 89: Felix Hernandez 90: John Lieber 92: Erik Bedard 97: Brad Radke 98: Jeff Weaver.
  10. The D-Backs activated Terry Mullholland. Pujols strained his right oblique muscle chasing a foul ball. He'll be reevaluated tomorrow. Octavio Dotel will start a rehab assignment at class A Tampa. Phillies Starter Randy Wolf will start a rehab assignment in A ball. Tetrahydrogestrinone is out with a sore back. Darrin Erstadt went 0/3 with a walk in his first rehab game at AA. Cesar Izturis was hitless in a rehab game. The brewers made a bunch of pitching moves. The Mariners released Kevin Appier, ending his comeback bid. Yorvit Torrealba was activated from the DL by the Rockies.
  11. Bill O'Reilly gets Malmedy backwards.
  12. QUOTE(Texsox @ Jun 3, 2006 -> 03:20 AM) I was thinking we could agree on Zeppelin And YAS, are you saying North America would have been better off if the Indians had controlled their borders? Diseases usually don't care about borders.
  13. QUOTE(Felix @ Jun 3, 2006 -> 01:10 PM) I'd be surprised if that happened. I think he'll be a Yankee The Yankees just don't have good starting pitching to deal like the Sox do, and that's what Philly needs.
  14. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jun 3, 2006 -> 01:07 PM) I give it two years before Abreu is on the Sox. Depending on what Sweeney does at AAA, I would not be terribly surprised if he was on the Sox next year when we deal one of our starting pitchers. Philly's been trying to dump him and part of his contract for pitching since they got their new GM
  15. Hopefully Javy has some of those strikeout pitches working, because that's not exactly a good defensive lineup behind him. Please...just win a damn game. Javy, Jelp us!
  16. Well, the one thing I would say is that Philly currently does have the 3rd worst starting rotation ERA in the NL, so they're probably in the market for another starter, and they might be willing to sacrifice offense to do it. But on the other hand...if I'm in their spot, I wait until Cole Hamels gets back off the DL and I get a better idea of whether or not he could give me anything before I make any moves for starting pitching. And yeah, JG has a no trade clause. Who says he wouldn't like pitching in Philly? Anyone here personal friends with JG, or just going off press reports, like the press reports saying that Garland wasn't going to sign last season, or that he only wanted to play on the west coast?
  17. So seriously, what the f*** does Greg Walker get paid for?
  18. This is going to be an entertaining finals no matter who winds up in it.
  19. QUOTE(EvilMonkey @ Jun 2, 2006 -> 06:23 PM) How about having all the primaries on the same day? This way Iowa and a few East Coast states don't decide who we have left to vote for. Or divide the states into 3 or 4 groups. One year, group A votes first, next year, group B, etc. Almost anything would be better. The Democrats under Dean have been making an effort to, at the very least, include a couple of states other than Iowa and New Hampshire in the first round, if for no other reason than the fact that the populations of Iowa and New Hampshire are incredibly homogeneous in terms of racial makeup. They've run into a lot of pushback from the folks in Iowa and N.H., who for some reason seem to like having every politician who wants to run for president trying to casually scratch their back (with gold.)
  20. Can we try sending Uribe and Anderson to him?
  21. So...before this week, the Tigers and the Sox were both at the bottom of the league in strength of schedule. This week, the Tigers have played the Yankees and Red Sox, the White Sox have played the Blue Jays, Tribe, and now Texas, and both are getting their asses handed to them. I'm really starting to wonder...maybe the AL Central just isn't as good as it looked coming into this season, and maybe the Tigers and White Sox have really just been feasting on mediocre competition. Now all of a sudden both of them are losing left and right as their schedules get tougher.
  22. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Jun 2, 2006 -> 09:23 PM) The sox (and us as the fans) should feel grateful that we are playing absolutely horrendous right now, and are only 2+ games behind Detriot right now and can make a statement/decrease or tie the lead, when we play them after this series. Well, it looks like Detroit will go into that series with a much shorter losing skid than the Sox, since the Tigers managed to win 1 against the Yankees to end the series.
  23. Boston ties up Detroit @ 1-1. Single by Manny knocking in Coco.
  24. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jun 2, 2006 -> 04:49 PM) Good news, out 3rd hitter has a .347/.383/.488 line against right-handed pitching this seaosn. Bad news: he's .190/.261/.238 w/RISP -- GIDP to end the first anyone? oddly, he's .391/.436/.540 with both of his HRs when the bases are empty. So you're saying Pierzynski would make a good leadoff hitter?
  25. Well, this is why we kept Gload at the end of the bench for so long. Hopefully he'll prove useful. Wow...Texas only has 3 guys in their lineup hitting under .300, and one of them is Teixeira.
