  1. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ May 27, 2006 -> 06:41 PM) The Tribe might turn into sellers at the break.... As young as their team is...who exactly do they have to sell? Wickman is about the only one who comes to my mind. They have guys like Byrd and Johnson, but IIRC, none of them are FA's after this year.
  2. Well, when your 3 and 4 hitters have 31 home runs between them, I guess a couple DP's are tolerable.
  3. Zaun needs to resume reciting the data from Playboy.
  4. Taubenheim pulls a K-Rod. Nicely done scotty.
  5. Ok, we got the 2 I wanted...now it's time to put this game away. Make it easy for Garland, come on Paulie.
  6. I think Jim's raised his bat a little bit higher at the plate. He's changed the angle he's holding it at.
  7. Thank you Alex. Jim...break one of those windows in CF this time.
  8. We better walk away from this with at least 2.
  9. Walked the bases loaded...come on Alex...that's basically the free bunt. At least Juan didn't GIDP.

    What???

QUOTE(Soxbadger @ May 27, 2006 -> 05:26 PM) I thought the goal was peace in the Middle East. Not "democracy" in the Middle East. Seeing as Hitler was elected, its the people not the system of govt that mean something. Hitler and the Nazis never actually won an election.
  11. Juan...2 walks already this inning...PATIENCE.
  12. QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 28, 2006 -> 10:35 AM) Well, they do need a 2B more than they need a 3B/1B/DH. And the Angels are going to be letting Kennedy walk at the end of the year and giving Kendrick the 2b spot anyway...the kid's already up, so why hold onto him at this point?
  13. Patience Mack...don't help him out.
  14. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ May 28, 2006 -> 10:33 AM) Damage is done though. Even though he didn't give up anything he still threw 30 pitches. They can't foul off 15 pitches every at bat. They were working the count like Crazy. Now it's time for JG to respond by focusing hard on getting that first pitch over so that they can't just sit back like that.
  15. Link. Even if you assume that they're counting every pound of CO2 and not normalizing by number of passengers on the plane, they're still off by a factor of over 10^3.
  16. Man, did Jon EVER need that. Yowza. 2 baserunners, a strike em out throw em out, and that inning took FOREVER. Good work getting through that Jon. Hopefully they won't be able to keep up fouling pitches off at that pace, or we'll run out of pitchers.
  17. What else can Garland do at that point? Yeesh.
  18. What is this, pitch 14 of this AB?
  19. Man, that didn't look like that bad of a pitch to me.
  20. Toronto's hitters really working the count early.
  21. At least Garland's throwing inside.
  22. Ground ball to start off. Let's do this Jon...keep it on the ground.
  23. Now this possibility at least intrigues me, especially if Willis continues to struggle. Why? Because him struggling right now might depress his trade value at exactly the time his cost to the Marlins would be going up due to closing in on arbitration. It'd still cost a lot in terms of prospects (just not Brandon for crying out loud), but if the Marlins think that what they'll get for him will decline with time, then maybe they'd consider it. Of course, right now, I see very little problem acquiring a pitcher who is struggling, just because we have a pretty darn good pitching coach for him to work with, which is another key part of the equation. I'm still as skeptical on Willis and his tricky delivery as others here are, and don't know whether or not he can really be consistent. But if he's going to have success anywhere, we've got as good of a system as anyone else.
  24. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ May 27, 2006 -> 11:08 PM) Well Erstad is brutal from what I heard. Defensively, he's no more than mediocre after all those injury bugs in CF. Offensively, he's below average from what Angel fans are saying as well. I look at his numbers and they scream, "blah". I don't mind finding an outside answer, but Erstad and Finley definately ain't it. Let's put it this way...if we were to make a genuine run at Shields, one of the things I'd do if I were the Angels GM would be to make sure that in addition to Shields, any team dealing with me would have to either take Erstadt or Garret Anderson and their contracts off of my hands (a-la Mike Lowell and Beckett going to Boston) just to save some of that money. The Angels would be delighted if someone actually offered them something of even Boone Logan's caliber at this point for Erstadt, IMO, given how much he's paid. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ May 28, 2006 -> 08:02 AM) We also were pretty much a lock to win if we had a 1 run lead. With this bullpen we cannot afford two auto-outs. We were also pretty much one of the worst 3 or 4 offenses in the AL last year. Right now we're #4 in the AL, and if we win by 3 runs today somehow we'll be #3. Let me say this as clearly as I can...OUR OFFENSE IS NOT THE PROBLEM.
