  1. QUOTE(JimH @ May 25, 2006 -> 06:54 AM) Barrett should get at least 5 and I think Derek Lee is in line for a suspension for coming onto the field while being on the DL ... not that his suspension will matter. Contreras hit the field while on the DL as well (he didn't come off the DL until the next day.)
  2. QUOTE(samclemens @ May 24, 2006 -> 05:46 PM) i am so f***ing sick of vincente fox and his corrupt government. i am glad to see the senate is growing some semblence of a pair of testicles with the fines for business that hire illegals. His government is still probably the least corrupt government Mexico has had in decades.
  3. The home runs will come AJ, especially when it warms up. Just put the ball in play.
  4. QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ May 24, 2006 -> 05:09 PM) Actually, this Congressman has not been indicted for anything yet - but when an investigation is launched, other Congressmen from the Dem side have stepped down from committees where there may seem to be a conflict of interest in the interest of preserving the ethics of the institution. The indictments are probably going to come down in a little over a month, from what I've read. At this point it's basically a foregone conclusion. QUOTE(EvilMonkey @ May 24, 2006 -> 05:55 PM) You can't tell me that you actually believe that. You are not stupid. You may be a liberal, but you are not that stupid. NONE of the politicians do what they do to 'preserve the ethics of the institution', They ALL do what they do with their own best interests in mind, the interests of their party next, and maybe then, some nagging little ethics concern. Those that would put ethics first, from both parties, could probably be counted on one hand, and wouldn't even be in that type of situation for it to matter. Those 10 words have got to be the most insane things I have ever read on this site. Ever. You know the real sad thing IMO? If there was actually a Congressperson or two out there acting with the best interests of the institution first and simply not caring about their own interests or their party's, they wouldn't be recognized because the stench of everyone else up there is so bad that it's just sort of assumed that they're trying to benefit themselves no matter what.
  5. QUOTE(beautox @ May 24, 2006 -> 07:43 PM) is it me or does Jenks now have 4 pitches? i know he was a starter in the Angels organization. It looks like hes got a cutter and a change up along with his fast ball and 12-6 hook. I think that pitch he threw to Ellis was that hard slider he breaks out every now and again. Man was that nasty. Ellis just stood there for like 10 seconds thinking "What the Hell was that?".
  6. Now THAT was a hell of a game. Mark JD Mack Crede JT Pods Thornton Bobby the Giant Yowza That was just a dynamite game to watch. Break out the brooms!
  7. 28 pitch inning for MB. That was ooogly. At least it's over unscathed.
  8. Big key batter right here. It'll either wind up being an out or we'll be down at least 3 into the next inning.
  9. QUOTE(BFirebird @ May 24, 2006 -> 05:23 PM) He has lost some velocity...therefore people don't chase his bad pitches anymore. He never really had any control...it is just easier for the hitters to see the bad pitches with the lack of velocity. His mechanics are also really off right now...he's trying to make up for the drop in velocity by overthrowing everything, so hitters wind up able to pick up his arm angle a lot better. He'll improve if he fixes that. No more 20 win seasons probably, but he's not as bad as he looks now.
  10. Good lord, I turn away for like 10 seconds and Buehrle throws 8 pitches.
  11. JD down to .556 average with RISP and 2 outs. 21 pitch first inning for Haren. 9 pitch first inning for Buehrle.
  12. Time for Dye to take care of business.
  13. That's Haren's 10th walk in 10 games.
  14. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 24, 2006 -> 05:10 PM) ...and he got you 0 points that inning. Loser. You ever notice how a lot of times guys will make a great defensive play and then have a great offensive play next time up to bat?
  15. QUOTE(WinningUgly85 @ May 24, 2006 -> 05:09 PM) good article but why did he knee the giants trainer in the groin? or am I missing something? AJ's denied that ever happened.
  16. QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ May 24, 2006 -> 05:07 PM) Dumb question but.... can you DH for another position theoretically? So, the shorter version is..."no".
  17. QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ May 24, 2006 -> 05:00 PM) It's also something they've done consistently since Pelosi became minority leader btw. Have any other Democrats actually faced indictments for bribery since Pelosi became Minority Leader?
  18. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ May 24, 2006 -> 03:54 PM) Bulls are around 19 million under the cap. We don't need to throw in players to match salaries. That's a higher number than I've heard. Are we sure what the cap is yet? Also, Garnett does make somewhere in the $18 million range. Wow, I think you're actually right, depending on the final cap number.
  19. QUOTE(My Dixie Normus @ May 24, 2006 -> 04:33 PM) Crankiness??? My wife would have missed the last half decade if she let crankiness keep her out of the game. Your wife is in the game? Can she pitch? Or hit? Or play defense? If so, the Cubs could use her.
  20. QUOTE(Goldmember @ May 24, 2006 -> 03:07 PM) unfit based on these circumstances? now that's comical... I'd say that the "driving with an unrestrained baby on your lap" is a much better argument personally, but this fits in nicely alongside.
  21. It's a step in the right direction. A call for a resignation on the day the indictments are handed down would be another necessary step.
  22. Interestingly, Paramount Pictures has pledged to make the publicity for this film "Carbon Neutral".
  23. QUOTE(ShoeLessRob @ May 24, 2006 -> 03:40 PM) I'd actually like to see someone bean him instead of saying s***, they got no balls to back their decision up. Escobar?
  24. QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ May 24, 2006 -> 03:28 PM) I fully expect 90+, but to say this hasn't played their best ball is a bit of hyperbole. I'd like to see them have another 30-15 stretch, or better, but I don't expect it. On paper, you're totally right. But the counterpoint is this; just watching the team, they don't seem like they're firing on every cylinder they could be. Even during the winning streaks, there's still a couple pitchers struggling, some bullpen guy falling apart, guys making silly plays on defense, etc. They just seem like they can play a lot better than this just from watching them.
  25. ABC News is reporting that Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert has had his name turn up and is now a target of the FBI investigation into the Jack Abramoff Bribery scandal. Dennis Hastert was the #1 recipient of contributions from Mr. Abramoff from 1998 to 2004. Take with a grain of salt, as it is based on anonymous sources, but anywho...would anyone now like to guess why he's so angry about the FBI being able to search Congressional offices if they get a warrant?
