  1. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Mar 16, 2006 -> 09:41 AM) Well, there's no where to go but to stay at the same level or go down. Kinda weird, eh? We can't go up... No, the '98 Yankees couldn't go up. As a team, we still can.
  2. Chris Matthews has accepted fees of about $35,000 for speeches he has given on behalf of health care related industries, in violation of MSNBC policy. Edit: NBC is now saying that Matthews gave all of the money to charity, and doing otherwise would have gotten him fired. Better than their original "He wasn't there" defense.
  3. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Mar 16, 2006 -> 08:52 AM) Every team is facing similar ST injuries. They happen to lots of players every spring. Little inflammations and pulls. Nothing serious. Nothing to worry about. This scares me vastly less than the pop one of our guys felt in his foot right around this time last year.
  4. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Mar 16, 2006 -> 04:57 AM) He would prob help a little but I dont think it would of been a huge difference..... It would not have been a huge difference, and everyone knows it. Look everyone, here are the facts of the Bulls this year. Pax was stuck with an absolutely untenable situation last year. He had a high draft pick with an obscure injury who they didn't want to risk playing if he couldn't prove he was healthy and who did not want to go so far as to prove to the team he was healthy. We were basically looking at having Curry sign his qualifying offer, play out this year, and leave. Instead, Pax managed to take that guy who was about to leave and turn it into almost certainly 2 separate "Top of the lottery" picks. And he did so without losing our cap space which we have after this year. The sacrifice he had to make? We had to take a step back this year, because we wouldn't have a solid inside scoring threat. So, we're taking a step back this year. Boo-Hoo. I'll worry about that when we have 2 picks in the top 12 this year and a top 5 pick next year, and with a little luck one of those will be top 2. In terms of Thomas...yeah he probably could have been useful at some level. But we saw last year what Skiles and Pax could do if they find the right kind of people. Hell, we saw Larry Brown turn the right kind of people into champions. If Tim Thomas doesn't fit in with Skiles's system...fine. Let them do their work, accept that we are taking a step back this season, and let's make our runs in 07 and beyond, once we have the talent we need.
  5. QUOTE(RME JICO @ Mar 16, 2006 -> 04:18 AM) Yeah, there is no way the Sox are going to rely on Hermie. If 4+ months of rest doesn't alleviate the problem, then more rest is not going to do it for him either. The best option would be to go ahead and fix the problem with surgery and come back at 100%. Some people have said that if he goes in for that surgery...he may never pitch again.
  6. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Mar 16, 2006 -> 06:57 AM) uugh dont say that. i dont want KW under the microscope again for sending damaged goods in a trade. The Pirates did a physical. They saw him on the DL last year. If they missed something, it isn't our fault.
  7. The Bonds books have at least caught the attention of 1 Congressman, who sent a letter to Selig asking for more details about his work during the 1998 and after. Link.
  8. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 15, 2006 -> 06:04 AM) The Ides of March are upon us I forgot to point out Pi day yesterday.
  9. QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Mar 15, 2006 -> 03:24 PM) I think Chicago teams have cornered the market on players like AJ. Players you hate on one team but love on yours, in no particular order: AJ Dennis Rodman Albert Belle Bob Probert Bryan Cox John Starks (briefly) John Salley etc. There is no way AJ deserves to show up on any list anywhere with a cheating jackass like Albert Belle. I certainly didn't "Love" him when he pulled out of his contract after 2 years, or when this stuff happened:
  10. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Mar 15, 2006 -> 02:11 PM) The Angels are going to regret letting Bengie go. That's up to Jeff Mathis to decide. Anywho...as much youth as they have, they may as well drop back for a year or two, bring some guys up, get younger, and make a big splash 2-3 years from now when they have guys like Wood, Kendrick, Morales, and Kotchman all starting and each making the minimum and can go and spend the rest of their dollars on their pitching staff.
  11. QUOTE(SouthsideBlitz @ Mar 15, 2006 -> 02:06 PM) Ok simple question, and that's why I asked is he ONE of the THREE brothers .. I know where two of them are but not the other. Jose Molina of the Angels, Bengie Molina now of Toronto, and Yadier Molina of the Cardinals.
  12. QUOTE(SouthsideBlitz @ Mar 15, 2006 -> 01:59 PM) By the way ... Does anyone know if Molina is one of the three Molina brothers? NO he's not, and there would have to be 4 molina brothers for him to be one of them anyway.
  13. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 15, 2006 -> 01:53 PM) What happened? No matter how much MLB's Gameday sucks...you never know how much you miss it until there are games where they don't have it.
  14. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 15, 2006 -> 01:35 PM) Yeah, he's Buehrle Part 2 the way Farmer is kissing his ass. I could live with that.
  15. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Mar 15, 2006 -> 01:23 PM) Marte>>>Lopez - a left shoulder. Fixed.
  16. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Mar 15, 2006 -> 01:22 PM) Javier Lopez and Boone Logan will make anyone want to use Cotts more... If Marte couldn't make Ozzie want to use Neal more...
  17. Neal was ready for more innings last year, but Ozzie never let him face righties.
  18. QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Mar 15, 2006 -> 01:11 PM) Triceps tendinitis for Contreras according to Ed Farmer, that's why Neal Cotts started. Hermanson to throw tomorrow on their off day. Lotta tendinitis going around lately. Jose, Pods, Damon, etc. Well, guess that's why you have ST in the first place.
  19. QUOTE(RegionSox @ Mar 15, 2006 -> 01:08 PM) I think he was working on some kind of offspeed pitch. I hope to god to never see it again If he could throw something at about 90-91 for a strike half the time, combined with that 99+ express, that 91 mph pitch would still be damn hard for people to pick up, and it would make it even harder for them to just say "I'm gonna sit back and hope he throws me a curve".
  20. QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 15, 2006 -> 12:57 PM) He didn't top 93 mph last time I saw him on tv. Hopefully he's just working on stuff. I believe last time he was asked about that he basically said it was spring and the velocity would come. Can anyone take a look at his arm angle? Is he dropping his arm more than usual while pitching or anything? That'd be a really bad sign.
  21. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Mar 15, 2006 -> 12:03 PM) In retrospect, who would you have chosen? Well, my pecking order before Dean's collapse went Dean, Clark, Edwards, Kerry, others.
  22. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 15, 2006 -> 11:34 AM) Now NASA is even offering usage of its runways... for a fee. http://www.cnn.com/2006/TECH/space/03/15/r...t.ap/index.html That thing is the flattest runway on Earth. Hell, I might put up a few bucks to land on it.
  23. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 15, 2006 -> 11:13 AM) I am starting to tire of Kerry's lack of material input in the political arena. I really hope he isn't the Dem nominee for Prez in '08. I hoped he wouldn't be in 04.
  24. So, remember that "Big Dig" in Boston, the one that anyone concerned about government waste has bashed for running like $10 billion over cost? The guy in charge of it? Bush is bumping him up to head of the Federal Highway Administration.
