  1. QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 07:01 PM) Offman also said that any deal that will be made likely will involve Jerome Williams FWIW. So that would what, leave the Cubs with Maddux, Prior, Zambrano, Wood, and Rusch in their starting rotation? Do they have a backup plan? Or two?
  2. With the Padres losing both Loretta and Hernandez...and Bonds losing 40 pounds (hint hint), does anyone else think that the entire NL West may come out worse next season?
  3. I guess he was the best option after Hoffman signed. Anyone care to place bets as to whether or not he stays healthy this year?
  4. QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 07:01 PM) The show that basically got Tucker Carlson fired from CNN because he's a douche. Still doesn't top Bob Novak's method of leaving CNN.
  5. Fairly insightful Stark piece on Clemens & the Stros.
  6. Um...yeah...I get what you're saying guy who wrote that. I still think Borch remains a better and cheaper option.
  7. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 04:55 PM) for some reason these guys think that Rex will be the next coming of Tom Brady. Just not gonna happen. If Orton throws for 150 yards this sunday and 1 TD and maybe one interception i am fine with that. People don't realize that this is a running football team. They will run the ball at least 70% of the time even if Grossman is QB. That is why they drafted Benson and not Mike Williams. Do you realize how much better that would be than the numbers Orton has put up the last couple games? He'd have to throw like 8 picks to put up those numbers and have his passer rating down where it's been the last couple weeks.
  8. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 03:48 PM) I am less and less a fan of O'reilly every day. I lost a lot of respect for him with his socialist rantings about the oil industry and this is making it worse. Great post Balta. You think that one by O'Reilly is entertaining...last night I believe, they broadcast a clip of the Daily Show from about a year ago making jokes about people not calling it christmas or something like that. O'Reilly said it was broadcast the evening before he showed it. A lie by something like a year. Supposedly...Stewart's going to hit back tonight.
  9. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 04:56 PM) I think it's pretty important for the White Sox. Every win will count next year, and having Benson or Redman pitching gives them a better chance of beating us. They still won't be good, but they might take a game or two more. And that's never good. But we also have Jim Thome as our DH instead of Carl Everett...and Brandon McCarthy starting instead of Orlando Hernandez, and Bobby Jenks Closing instead of Dustin Hermanson (that cost us 1 game against KC)
  10. QUOTE(JDsDirtySox @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 04:26 PM) Agreed. The Tigers are also the team rumored to have an offer to Johnny Damon at 5 years 70 million. Boras will turn that into 7 years, $100 million. Don't ask me how, he just will. F***ing typing. I meant this. Written a 15 page paper today. Gimme a break.
  11. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 04:02 PM) You're right about that. BUT.......... Oh yes he did throw the medals away. http://www.washingtontimes.com/national/20...20351-2402r.htm Yet supposedly he has shown his medals to reporters in the past. Ah heck...let's just admit he has no idea what he threw and neither do we. He definately threw something.
  12. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 03:51 PM) Isn't WIckman the last real option? Jones and Hoffman are out so there can't be too many more Who else is in the market for a closer that might take a shot at the big guy? I can think of maybe the Orioles or the Bravos off the top of my head, anyone else who might be in need of one?
  13. QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 03:58 PM) Ouch.. They have Baker in the wings to close and he has to wait 3 more years.. Not good. Not if age catches up with Hoffman at some point.
  14. QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 03:56 PM) I was pretty sure he never threw his medals away. Ok, I'm going to respond to this before someone else does...when you earn the awards that Kerry got, you get a couple different things...you get a medal, and you also get some sort of ribbon that I believe can go on your uniform. Kerry threw away the latter at a Vietnam protest. So yes, he did throw something away, and it is entirely a semantic issue as to whether he threw away his medals or his ribbons.
  15. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 03:42 PM) Seriously, It will be pouring rain and you'll see idiots flying by you at 75-85 on the freeway. They have no idea that when it rains you need to slow down. In July, I moved to an apartment overlooking the 210. I'm hoping to find some entertainment looking out the window and watching the street when the real rains start. (I already had 1 high-speed chase go by my window). Well, I may be in a better situation than most, as my only transportation at least for now is still 2 wheels and powered by pedals. I've spent a fair amount of time sitting in traffic while driving vehicles on division field trips however, and it does become less than pleasant.
  16. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 03:49 PM) Thats right, I forgot, president Bush is the one over there toturing people. Oh wait, no he's not and yet people seem to generalize that the whole freaking army is toturing individuals. Thats like saying every Sox fan is William Lique. Don't let the extremely vast minority allow you to make a false opinion on the majority of soldiers. I never said, nor will I ever say that it is a majority. But that said, a small minority can still be a huge and systemic problem.
  17. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 03:43 PM) You also have Senator Kerry making this accusations about how crappy our troops are and how they are treating the Iraqi's horribly and invading their rights. Comments like that sicken me. Let me guess...you heard about those "awful quotes" from Limbaugh. Or at least indirectly from someone who heard it from him.
  18. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 03:23 PM) Rex Grossman is the better QB. That does not mean he's the better QB to play this sunday, or the sunday after that, or heck, any other sunday this year. He may well be the better QB to play, but he has to prove that by finding a rhythm with his teammates in practice, proving he's in game shape, proving he won't hurt himself, and that he's the better option.
  19. Yeah he had a good year last year, but I was a lot more scared of their bullpen when I thought Percival would be at the back end of it. Any numbers on how much they spent on him?
  20. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 03:06 PM) Start him. Start him now. I would be very worried about that...he's only been working out for what, a few weeks, after having to sit out for months? And he's only taking 25% of the snaps? That's not a recipe for success with a QB.
  21. QUOTE(WinninUgly @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 02:54 PM) The Rocket wanted $20 million for one year and the Stros already had $65 million tied into 5 players for 2006 - ouch! Good lord, that's worse than we were 2 years ago. Could you imagine if Beltran had signed with them? That'd be like $82 million for 6 players, with like $6 million going to the other 19.
  22. Man, I'm shocked by this. The Stros even spent a draft pick on Roger's son to try to encourage him to return. I figured he'd play 1 more year on the understanding that his son would be called up to play catcher for at least 1 game that he pitched this season.
  23. I don't know if this fits with the topic or not, but I just have to post it...just sit here and read it and soak up the irony. Take a guess who said that. Bringing Horror into the world in the name of Jesus. Wow.
  24. QUOTE(mr_genius @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 02:19 PM) why would you voluntarily go somewhere like that? Alcohol.
  25. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 01:37 PM) Who catches Wakefield now? The backstop.
